Little Johnny - A historical view

The teacher said, "Let's begin by reviewing some American History. Who said 'Give me Liberty , or give me Death'?"

She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Little Johnny, a bright Navajo Indian boy who had his hand up. “Patrick Henry, 1775," he said.

"Very good!"

Who said, "Government of the People, by the People, for the People, shall not perish from the Earth?"

Again, no response except from Little Johnny, "Abraham Lincoln, 1863."

The teacher snapped at the class, "Class, you should be ashamed, Little Johnny knows more about history than you do."

She heard a loud whisper: "Screw the Indians."

"Who said that?" she demanded.

Little Johnny put his hand up, "General George Armstrong Custer, 1876."

At that point, a student in the back said, "I think I'm gonna puke."

The teacher glares around and asks, "All right! Now who said that!?"

Again, Little Johnny says, "George Bush to the Japanese Prime Minister, 1991."

Now furious, another student yells, "Oh yeah? Suck this!"

Little Johnny jumps out of his chair waving his hand and shouts to the teacher,
"Bill Clinton, to Monica Lewinsky, 1997!"

Now with almost mob hysteria someone said "You little shit. If you say anything else, I'll kill you."

Little Johnny frantically yells at the top of his voice, "Michael Jackson to the kid testifying against him,2004."

The teacher fainted.

And as the class gathered around the teacher on the floor, someone said, "Oh shit, we're screwed no matter what happens here!"

Little Johnny said quietly, "That would be the American Voters, November 4, 2008.

Why we don't take South American political leaders seriously enough

LA PAZ – The president of the United Nations General Assembly, Rev. Miguel D’Escoto Brockmann, on Saturday declared Bolivian President Evo Morales as “World Hero of Mother Earth” in a ceremony at the presidential palace in this capital.

With a medal and a parchment scroll, the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization named Morales “the maximum exponent and paradigm of love for Mother Earth” in the resolution for his decoration that was read during the ceremony.

The document added that the decision was taken “after extensive consultation” among representatives of the General Assembly’s member countries.

D’Escoto recalled that Morales “was the one who most helped” the United Nations declare last April 22 as International Mother Earth Day, or “Pachamama” as Mother Earth is said in Bolivia’s Aymara Indian tongue.

For his part, the president said that the honor is not for Evo Morales, “but for our ancestors and the native peoples” that “have always defended Mother Earth.”

This is nonsense. His ancestors cut down trees, trapped animals and probably sacrificed them to gods believeing that would ensure a good harvest. Many "civilizations" of the ancients disappeared because they cut down all the trees to be used as fuel. Same thing is now happening in parts of Africa. Many natives in South America wander through the forests engaging in slash and burn land clearing for farming.

Only the stupidest of the environmental wackos don't know that it is modern man, actually the culture of the west aided by our technology, that has helped "clean" up the environment destroyed by the acts of our, and their, ignorant ancestors.

He added that he will continue trying to get the international community to acknowledge the rights of Mother Earth.

The rights of who? People have rights..........Oh, wait.

Besides Morales, the former Cuban head of state Fidel Castro has been named “World Hero of Solidarity” and the late ex-president of Tanzania, Julius Nyerere, will be honored as “World Hero of Social Justice.”

“What we want to do is present these three people to the world and say that they embody virtues and values worth emulation by all of us,” said D’Escoto, who like the socialist Morales is a staunch critic of U.S. foreign policy in Latin America.

Yeah, like executing political opponents a la Castro and Che?

At last all is revealed.

D’Escoto was elected president of the 63rd session of the UN General Assembly on June 4, 2008, and was Nigaraguan foreign minister during the first Sandinista government from 1979 to 1990.

I am reminded of "The Wizard of Oz" except these flakes and fakes are actually dangerous.

Obama dreads meeting with families of military men killed in Afghanistan

PP - In an early morning interview before he left to attend Senator Kennedy's funeral President Obama said that Kennedy had lived a long and rich life and that though he will be missed we can all celebrate the many great things he accomplished.

When asked to be more specific the Chosen One said that he couldn't think of one off hand but was sure that Kennedy had done something that would be remembered 100 years from now.

When asked if he had any military funerals scheduled he said that he just hated funerals and was too busy trying to figure out to make veterans needing healthcare pay for their own insurance to go through the whole Taps thing.

"I call it the Forced Out Option," he said, explaining it was only fair for those who fought to pay for their expenses. "Try that in any bar in Chicago and the owner will expect you, or your ward heeler, to make things right."

And no, none of the above happened but we all know it to be accurate.

BTW - Can anyone tell me what happened to the demands from the Left that our President meet the aircraft containing the bodies of our dead servicemen?

Global Controlling

The current Global Warming Debate is not about temperature or CO2 levels. It is also not part of a scientific dispute inside climatology. It is an ideological clash between those who want to change us (rather than the climate) and those who believe in freedom, markets, human ingenuity, and technical progress. It is a dispute about us, about people, about human society, about our values, about our habits, about our way of life. Temperature fluctuations are only an instrument, not a real object of interest for those who play that game

Obama clamps down on dissent..

By Jeff Mason

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama hammered away at "outrageous myths" about his healthcare reform plans on Saturday, seeking again to take control of a debate that has tarnished support for his top domestic policy goal.

Obama, a Democrat, has tried for weeks to clamp down on criticism and misinformation about his healthcare plans and used his weekly radio and Internet address to confront them.

Uh Jeff, he aint our Daddy. And since we are chatting, doesn't the thought of a President "clamp(ing) down on citicism" bother you just a bit?

Judge orders GITMO prisoner released

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A Yemeni prisoner held since 2002 in the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay must be freed because there is no evidence he belonged to al Qaeda or was a bodyguard for Osama bin Laden, a U.S. judge said in a decision published on Friday.

(snip)

"There is no reliable evidence in the record that (Adahi) was a member of al Qaeda and/or the Taliban," U.S. District Judge Gladys Kessler wrote in her decision.

Greenpace admits a mistake... heck, we knew Greenpeace was a mistake

The outgoing leader of Greenpeace has admitted his organization’s recent claim that the Arctic Ice will disappear by 2030 was “a mistake.” Greenpeace made the claim in a July 15 press release entitled “Urgent Action Needed As Arctic Ice Melts,” which said there will be an ice-free Arctic by 2030 because of global warming.

Under close questioning by BBC reporter Stephen Sackur on the “Hardtalk” program, Gerd Leipold, the retiring leader of Greenpeace, said the claim was wrong.

“I don’t think it will be melting by 2030. … That may have been a mistake,” he said.
Sackur said the claim was inaccurate on two fronts, pointing out that the Arctic ice is a mass of 1.6 million square kilometers with a thickness of 3 km in the middle, and that it had survived much warmer periods in history than the present.

The BBC reporter accused Leipold and Greenpeace of releasing “misleading information” and using “exaggeration and alarmism.”

Leipold’s admission that Greenpeace issued misleading information is a major embarrassment to the organization, which often has been accused of alarmism but has always insisted that it applies full scientific rigor in its global-warming pronouncements.

Although he admitted Greenpeace had released inaccurate but alarming information, Leipold defended the organization’s practice of “emotionalizing issues” in order to bring the public around to its way of thinking and alter public opinion.

Leipold said later in the BBC interview that there is an urgent need for the suppression of economic growth in the United States and around the world. He said annual growth rates of 3 percent to 8 percent cannot continue without serious consequences for the climate.

What a dork.

We will definitely have to move to a different concept of growth.

Plame Redux How the Left is exposing the CIA

The Justice Department recently questioned military defense attorneys at Guantanamo Bay about whether photographs of CIA personnel, including covert officers, were unlawfully provided to detainees charged with organizing the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

Investigators are looking into allegations that laws protecting classified information were breached when three lawyers showed their clients the photographs, the sources said. The lawyers were apparently attempting to identify CIA officers and contractors involved in the agency's interrogation of al-Qaeda suspects in facilities outside the United States, where the agency employed harsh techniques.

If detainees at the U.S. military prison in Cuba are tried, either in federal court or by a military commission, defense lawyers are expected to attempt to call CIA personnel to testify.

The photos were taken by researchers hired by the John Adams Project, a joint effort of the American Civil Liberties Union and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, to support military counsel at Guantanamo Bay, according to the sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the inquiry. It was unclear whether the Justice Department is also examining those organizations.

Link

Where is the public outcry from the Democrats? This, unlike the non-outing of Mrs. Wislon is a crime. The perps should be charged and tried.

The Mrs. Wilson affair met none of the following. The actions of the lawyers meet all of them.

At the threshold, the agent must truly be covert. Her status as undercover must be classified, and she must have been assigned to duty outside the United States currently or in the past five years. This requirement does not mean jetting to Berlin or Taipei for a week's work. It means permanent assignment in a foreign country. Since Plame had been living in Washington for some time when the July 2003 column was published, and was working at a desk job in Langley (a no-no for a person with a need for cover), there is a serious legal question as to whether she qualifies as "covert."

The law also requires that the disclosure be made intentionally, with the knowledge that the government is taking "affirmative measures to conceal [the agent's] relationship" to the United States.

Naked Passengers

I thought I would scare you.

Just heard that a Southwest flight from Oakland to St Louis has turned around and landed... seems two passengers got in a fight and one of them took their clothes off.....

I've heard of ugly people, but wow....

Besides, it sounds like at least one of the two was wanting to make up...

"Come over here... Let me touch ya..."

It seems like people act differently on airplanes. Could be the two or three or four drinks they have in the airport bar... could be the feeling of doing something that is bigger than them.. who knows. But from the naked person here to the person who took a dump in the snack cart, weirdness reigns...

I'm a friendly type but I used to dread the "This my life" types I would run into on a regular basis. I never wanted to hurt their feelings but I really didn't care that they were on there way to see their Grandmother who was dying... I mean I cared but I didn't want to hear about it for the next two hours.

Airlines and their business practices have always fascinated me. A few years back I was on my way to Los Angeles and was connecting via Delta's Salt Lake City hub. We got in way early and as I was looking for the nearest bar I discovered a gate with a flight to Los Angeles that was getting ready to board. Since my connection wasn't in the "legal" connect time I was on a flight some hour and half later. It was obvious that the flight wasn't anywhere near full so I went over and asked if they would put me on that one.

The guy looked at my discounted ticket and said it would cost me $75.00. I declined, expressing my best wishes to the idiots in charge. When my flight left it was over sold and they were giving away $250 certificates to anyone who would give up their seats and take a later flight.

I used to hate pilots who, at night, had to show everyone they could watch the TACAN needle and read a map. "Uh, that's Oklahoma City off the right hand side..." Give me two drinks and let me sleep...

But some do have a sense of a humor.. Years and years and years ago I was on a Continental flight, yes The Proud Bird With The Golden Tail, when there was a loud bang. In a few minutes the pilot came on and announced we would about 10 minutes late arriving in Denver... It was a 727 Trijet. About 30 minutes later there was another loud bang. A few minutes later the pilot came on and announced that we would be about 15 minutes late.... he finished by saying that if we heard another bang it might take longer than anticipated to get to Denver.

National Health Care - What could go wrong?

Let me get this straight. Obama's health care plan will be written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress which hasn't read it, signed by a president who smokes, funded by a treasury chief who did not pay his taxes, overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that is nearly broke.

What could possibly go wrong? I ask you? What?

AARP stacks a teleconference

So my morning paper said that yesterday (Monday) the AARP had set up a teleconference on health care for my Congressman. Since I am a member and knew nothing about it I called AARP to ask why.

After a bit the young lady on the phone bank said that it had been for 40,000 people in the district selected by random within the 50 to 64 age group.

That, of course, is age discrimination. I expect that from corporations looking to hire someone. I did not expect it from an organization I am a member of and is supposed to be looking out for my interests.

And the unstated reason is obvious. AARP wants one of the Obama planS to pass so they stacked the conference to keep out people on Medicare as Medicare clients have been the most vocal opponents of the bill because we see that taking $4 billion out of Medicare and reducing payments to Doctors and hospitals will reduce services and reduced services will lead to rationing as surely as night follows day.

And why does AARP want one of Obama's planS to pass? Because they want to sell the insurance that the voter will be mandated to buy. A market of some 46 million people.

Always follow the money when you want the truth.

Bump and update. My daughter tells me that yesterday around 7PM a call came in from the AARP but things were so screwed up on how to ask a question she hung up. (I wasn't home and she forgot to mention it.)

So the question is, since I am not between 50 and 64 and since my daughter is not either, why was I told that was the selection criteria?

Or does this just prove that being incapable of following the plan excuses you from coming up with the plan?

Okra aka candy

So far I have frozen about 10 meals and think I can get 10 more. That will be one or two a month until the 2010 crop comes in, that is assuming Global Warming doesn't delay the crop with unseasonably cold weather as it did this spring..

It will produce until frost but I will need a step ladder for the last of the crop.

All the cook has to do is dump the pre-breaded okra into the frying pan, stir everynow and then for even browning, lift out, drain and serve. Especially good on a cold winter day.

Of course I might need to advise the police in advance of what I am growing.

I thought you might like this story. My grandparents are transplanted Oakies. They moved to Modesto, CA in 1950. My grandpa as long as I can remember has had at least an acre of okra. Right after thay moved to Modesto my grandfather woke up one morning to find several Sheriff's officers tromping through the okra and stepping on the watermelon. He went out to see what was up. The Sheriff was convinced that my grandpa was growing pot in his garden and had never heard of, let alone seen okra. It took a couple cups of coffee and a few of last years pickled okras to send this law officer on his way. He later became a close friend of the family. Much like everyone who has ever crossed paths with grandpa. It just isn't summer without okra.

A California sherrif who didn't know what pot looked like? Well, that's the story and they are sticking to it.

What will you do for your children?

This comes from Mike L.

Our generation just gets better with age!

Apparently, a self-important college freshman attending a recent football game took it upon himself to explain to a senior citizen sitting next to him why it was impossible for the older generation to understand his generation.

'You grew up in a different world, actually an almost primitive one', the student said, loud enough for many of those nearby to hear. 'The young people of today grew up with television, jet planes, space travel, man walking on the moon. Our space probes have visited Mars. We have nuclear energy, ships and electric and hydrogen cars, cell phones, and computers with light-speed processing...and more.'

After a brief silence, the senior citizen responded as follows:

'You're right, son. We didn't have those things when we were young...so we invented them. Now, you arrogant little shit, what are you doing for the next generation?'

The applause was amazing

Last meals and demonstrations

The pig came back. And a bad life choice it was for him. After his last meal of some tomatoes and cucumbers he joined his brother as BBQ by the guys who I called to come and haul him away.

But this time it took two shots. Shame to waste good amunition on a varmint who wants to eat your garden. Not that I blame him. Eating the results of other people's hard work has been around since grasshoppers discovered ants.

I am starting to become annoyed at any and all so called intelligent people nodding wisely and telling one and all that we shouldn't be yelling at our supposed elected representatives.

Why not? Have you ever heard of anyone against something willing to set down and have some ignorant politician piss on their shoes?? I mean someone worth being known as someone.

Naturally the Lefties want peace and quiet. They don't want their trained seals frightened by seeing all those voters screaming at them. Case in point:

I am relieved to hear that union members will be in the audience hopefully to deal with disturbances. It should have happened much earlier. In Bush days, when someone happen to stage a quite demonstration inside a hall with a Bush speaker, the police would carry them out and even charge them with something. It's time for us to watch real staged disturbances stopped by the disturbing people carried out the hall by union members.

Obama should have done the job long ago, but I guess he spent his fight on swiftboating Hillary in the primaries and hasn't recovered yet.

New blood pressure drug

bits and pieces...

The White House wants its minions to tell on their friends and now it is sending emails to people who haven't requested them... Outside of FNC and a few blogs nothing is said.

Bush wanted to tap telephone calls from known terrorists outside the US to telephone numbers inside the US, and vice versa, and the press went ballistic.

Tell me the media isn't full of ignorant fools in the tank for Obamie.

bits and pieces...

My MD started me on a new blood pressure drug this week. Having went through this before I called my insurance company since it was new and not in their formulary. They had added it but it is PA (prior approval) and ST ( step therapy - to be used only after lower level therapies have been tried.)

So my MD GP will have to call and explain before it will be covered by the insurance. This is per Medicare Part D guidelines.

And they won't ration care to get that $400 billion. Sure they won't. No way.

Maybe I need to call that female type person in Houston who played a Doctor to get on TV.

Michigan is in the tank

and you need to do no more and read this to understand.

Detroit, Mich. - Michigan just experienced its coldest July on record; global temperatures haven't risen in more than a decade; Great Lakes water levels have resumed their 30-year cyclical rise (contrary to a decade of media scare stories that they were drying up due to global warming), and polls show that climate change doesn't even make a list of Michigan voters' top-ten concerns.

Yet in an interview with the Detroit News Monday, Senator Debbie Stabenow (D., Mich.) - recently appointed to the Senate Energy Committee - made clear that fighting the climate crisis is her top priority.

"Climate change is very real," she confessed as she embraced cap and trade's massive tax increase on Michigan industry - at the same time claiming, against all the evidence, that it would not lead to an increase in manufacturing costs or energy prices. "Global warming creates volatility. I feel it when I'm flying. The storms are more volatile. We are paying the price in more hurricanes and tornadoes."

This is an elected offical. A Democrat. It is obvious she knows absolutely nothing about what she is speaking of yet she is willing to just do the President's bidding.

Michigan, you are getting what you deserve. Too bad it also hurts us.

But if you think Michigan has a problem, read this comment from calny from NY, NY. (Either there or Gollywood.)

Cold weather can be caused by global warming and so can increased storm volitility.

New Element discovered

Lawrence Livermore Laboratories has discovered the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputyneutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are
surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons..
Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be
detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into
contact. A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would
normally take less than a second, to take from 4 days to 40 years to complete.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2- 6 years. It does not decay,
but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the
assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places.

In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since
each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming
isodopes. This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists
to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical
concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical
morass.

When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium, an
element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since it has
half as many peons but twice as many morons.

Obama's health care excuses

I listened very carefully to this video from the House of Obama in which a guy says that no cuts in benefits in Medicare are going to happen.

Instead everything is going to get better.

Link

First he mumbles that Rx drug costs are going to go down and that when the doughtnut hole is reached there will be no co-pays and preventive drugs will be free.

And he evidently doesn't know how Medicare Part D works. He says that after you have reached the doughnut hole, which is $2700, which is the sum of your copays and what the Insurance company has paid, you have to pay 100%.

Nope. Not true. You can purchase insurance that will cover part of the generic drugs you need until you reach $4350. If you have no additional insurance, at $4350 total out of pocket costs you pay 5% of the drug cost or a copay of %2.40, which ever is higher. (The 5% always is.)

Now if he doesn't know that you can bet your Grandma's training bra that he doesn't know what he is talking about in the new plan.

The second thing he claims is that more doctors, both GPs and specialists are going to be available for both rural and urban America. Now he doesn't say how that is going to be done. Outside of heavy incentives or guards or both I don't see that happening. Most people don't go to school for years and years to have a lower standard of living than the kid who took shop in high school and became a plumber.

The third thing is that since the government will know everything about you, you won't have to answer all those pesky questions when you go to new doctor, a new clinic or a new hospital. Not doing so will save all of 5 minutes, especially since most Medicare patients have a GP, a Clinic and a hospital... But even then any Doctor I want treating me is going to want to go over the drugs in the database with the patient... Just to be sure.

And of course there is the fact that the whole world will know about that nasty STD you caught down Tijuana.

At that point the video switches to an out take of Obamie's PR meeting with AARP in which he looks into the camera and swears that benefits won't be cut....

And the check's in the mail, the Beamer is paid for and he will respect us in the morning.

Yeah. Sure. No doubt.

What you can expect from Obama's

"Public Option" healthcare plan.

10) Your annual breast exam is done at Hooters.

(9) Directions to your doctor's office include "Take a left when you enter the trailer park."

(8) The tongue depressors taste faintly of Fudgesicles.

Professional Democrats Organize?

But they say Organizing for America, which was known as Obama for America during the presidential campaign, is quietly and deliberately building a system of professional field organizers and trained volunteers that has already inspired thousands of community events and reached millions of people.

Staffers have been hired so far in 42 states, said the group's deputy director, Jeremy Bird, and he expects to have paid workers in every state in a matter of weeks.

And they will never attend a Town Hall meeting, call a Congress Critter.... and they will respect you in the morning...

Now we know why Obama wanted this:

Democrats organize

Tony Mack, a Massachusetts volunteer for the group, said he has had no trouble in recent days recruiting people to staff phone banks, asking voters in Maine to keep the heat on Sen. Olympia J. Snowe, a moderate Republican who is undecided on the healthcare bill.

What? Organize amd pressure a Congresss Critter??? How dare they. How undemocratic.

Palin, etc., as a fascist

I had a bet with myself that at some point those who oppose Obamie would be called racist by the Lefties.

I lose.

Instead we are Fascists.

And more ominously: "The most important variables...are the conservative elites' willingness to work with the fascists (along with a reciprocal flexibility on the part of the fascist leaders) and the depth of the crisis that induces them to cooperate."

That description sounds eerily like the dire straits our Congressional Republicans find themselves in right now. Though the GOP has been humiliated, rejected, and reduced to rump status by a series of epic national catastrophes mostly of its own making, its leadership can't even imagine governing cooperatively with the newly mobilized and ascendant Democrats. Lacking legitimate routes back to power, their last hope is to invest the hardcore remainder of their base with an undeserved legitimacy, recruit them as shock troops, and overthrow American democracy by force. If they can't win elections or policy fights, they're more than willing to take it to the streets, and seize power by bullying Americans into silence and complicity.

When that unholy alliance is made, the third stage -- the transition to full-fledged government fascism -- begins.

The third stage: being there
All through the Bush years, progressive right-wing watchers refused to call it "fascism" because, though we kept looking, we never saw clear signs of a deliberate, committed institutional partnership forming between America's conservative elites and its emerging homegrown brownshirt horde. We caught tantalizing signs of brief flirtations -- passing political alliances, money passing hands, far-right moonbat talking points flying out of the mouths of "mainstream" conservative leaders. But it was all circumstantial, and fairly transitory. The two sides kept a discreet distance from each other, at least in public. What went on behind closed doors, we could only guess. They certainly didn't act like a married couple.

Now, the guessing game is over. We know beyond doubt that the Teabag movement was created out of whole cloth by astroturf groups like Dick Armey's FreedomWorks and Tim Phillips' Americans for Prosperity, with massive media help from FOX News. We see the Birther fracas -- the kind of urban myth-making that should have never made it out of the pages of the National Enquirer -- being openly ratified by Congressional Republicans. We've seen Armey's own professionally-produced field manual that carefully instructs conservative goon squads in the fine art of disrupting the democratic governing process -- and the film of public officials being terrorized and threatened to the point where some of them required armed escorts to leave the building. We've seen Republican House Minority Leader John Boehner applauding and promoting a video of the disruptions and looking forward to "a long, hot August for Democrats in Congress."

All of this by people who never saw an anti-war demonstration they didn't like, a terrorist they couldn't release and a chance to insult or a chance to attack Bush they would turn down.

It is amazing. The hypocrisy of the Left and the Democrats defies description.

Even more amazing is the total ignorance and complete lack of understanding of what is going on in the country which is not fascism but a rebirth of citizens acting alone or as part of a group to take the country back from the tyranny of the Left.

That they are using the tactics of the Left makes it all the sweeter.

Terrorist 1 US 0

Reporting from Washington -- U.S. Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr. is poised to appoint a criminal prosecutor to investigate alleged CIA abuses committed during the interrogation of terrorism suspects, current and former U.S. government officials said.

A senior Justice Department official said that Holder envisioned an inquiry that would be narrow in scope, focusing on "whether people went beyond the techniques that were authorized" in Bush administration memos that liberally interpreted anti-torture laws.

Yes, that is something that Americans are just dying to know. I mean of all the things that I want to know this covers it... The only thing more interesting would be what happened to Amelia Earhart...

Some cases have not previously been disclosed, including an instance in which a CIA operative brought a gun into an interrogation booth to force a detainee to talk, officials said.

Other potentially criminal abuses have already come to light, including the waterboarding of prisoners in excess of Justice Department guidelines, and the deaths of detainees in CIA custody in Afghanistan and Iraq in 2002 and 2003.

Opening a criminal investigation is something Holder "has come reluctantly to consider," the Justice Department official said, emphasizing that Holder had not reached a final decision but noting that, "as attorney general, he has the obligation to follow the law."

Well, health care looks like a no starter, cap and trade is down with an 8 count so you know Obamie has to do something to get his Leftie base off his behind..

Palim and Obama's Death Panels

Gee. I wonder why people would think this.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin called President Barack Obama's health plan "downright evil" Friday in her first online comments since leaving office, saying in a Facebook posting that he would create a "death panel" that would deny care to the neediest Americans.

"The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care," the former Republican vice presidential candidate wrote.

Well, maybe because this man

Ezekiel Emanuel, the Presodent's health care advisor, wrote this:

This civic republican or deliberative democratic conception of the good provides both procedural and substantive insights for developing a just alloca- tion of health care resources. Procedurally, it suggests the need for public forums to deliberate about which health services should be considered basic and should be socially guaranteed. Substantively, it suggests services that promote the continuation of the polity-those that ensure healthy future genera- tions, ensure development of practical reasoning skills, and ensure full and active participation by citizens in public deliberations-are to be socially guaranteed as basic. Conversely, services provided to individuals who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens are not basic and should not be guaranteed. An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia. A less obvious example Is is guaranteeing neuropsychological services to ensure children with learning disabilities can read and learn to reason

Here's something to think about.

I recently picked a new primary care doctor.

After two visits and exhaustive Lab tests, he said I was doing 'fairly well' for my age. (I just turned 52.)

A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, 'Do you think I'll live to be 80?'

He asked, 'Do you smoke tobacco, or drink beer or wine?'

'Oh no,' I replied, 'I'm not doing drugs, either!'

Then he asked, 'Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?

'I said, 'Not much...my former doctor said that all red meat is very unhealthy!'

'Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, sailing, hiking, or bicycling?'

'No, I don't,' I said.

He asked, 'Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?'

'No,' I said.

He looked at me and said.........

'Then, why do you even give a shit?'

Privacy? What privacy?

The canary for years was used by miners to show the presence of deadly gasses. This one is a very sick bird.

UK ISPs have come out in united opposition to the British government's proposed £2 billion plan to construct a massive "Big Brother" database and surveillance system that will monitor and record every email, phone call and website visit of the country's citizens, reports Martyn Warwick.

Under proposed legislation it would be the UK's hapless ISPs that would be made responsible for implementation of the Orwellian system and, in a submission to the Home Office (the UK's equivalent of a Ministry of the Interior), a coalition of the service providers have condemned it as "an unwarranted intrusion into people’s privacy". The document also accuses the government of deliberately misleading the British public about the extent to which their private communications will be monitored.

Link

No Leftie of note in the US has condemned the plan even though if it records everything then obviously that would include traffic from and to the US (and other countries).

What that tells me is that Obamie plans to do the same.

Why Medicare is going broke

Bits and pieces...

So I get this new BP med see and the Doc says buy a 30 day supply and let's see... So I go to Walmart and since it's a generic I get a 30 day supply for $4.00... Now that would be $12.00 for 90 days.... (remember that)...

So I just happen to note that my spouse uses the same drug and has ordered a 90 supply through Right Source who is the 100% owned mail order pharmacy of Humana.. And the price is $31.00 and change..

So I play the dummy and call Humana and say, "Why?" (I have left out all the repeating of membership numbers, birth dates, home address, etc., etc.)

And, of course, everyone knows the answer but no one will say it. "Because that's what we charge."

Someone did point out that my wife paid zip so it was free. I noted that since the $31.00 and change was charged to the account it wasn't free. Walmart's price would have gotten my spouse $12.00 closer to the doughnut hole where Humana pays NOTHING while Humana's Right Source price got my wife $32.00 plus change closer to the doughnut hole where Humana pays NOTHING... and of course Humana keeps on collecting the premium...

Get all that??

Someone did tell me that Right Source had charged me the "Average Retail Price." I didn't catch on when I heard that but I'll bet it is the Feds who set "Average Retail Price..."

Anybody besides me starting to see why Medicare is going broke faster and faster??

Nixon's enemies list and Obamie's Dime Droppers

Opponents of health insurance reform may find the truth a little inconvenient, but as our second president famously said, "facts are stubborn things."

The problem is that our Liar In Chief wouldn't know a fact if it bit him.

Scary chain emails and videos are starting to percolate on the internet, breathlessly claiming, for example, to "uncover" the truth about the President’s health insurance reform positions.

Yes indeed. Since Obamie doesn't know what's in the bill himself we have to assume that what is in it pleases his advisers. As I posted here.

"This civic republican or deliberative democratic conception of the good provides both procedural and substantive insights for developing a just alloca- tion of health care resources. Procedurally, it suggests the need for public forums to deliberate about which health services should be considered basic and should be socially guaranteed."

That is a fancy way of saying the government should decide what care should be allowed. That's a fancy way of saying "rationed." And "rationed" is a ten dollar word meaning someone decides who gets what. And "socially guaranteed" is a fancy way of saying it will be paid for by the government. And there is more:

"Substantively, it suggests services that promote the continuation of the polity-those that ensure healthy future genera- tions, ensure development of practical reasoning skills, and ensure full and active participation by citizens in public deliberations-are to be socially guaranteed as basic."

That means that if you have passed the test, you will be cared for. Perhaps we should, as Hitler's Germany did, encourage only our best and brightest young women get pregnant by only our best and brightest young men. The test will be in three parts. Intelligence, Physical and Political Correctness.

And what will happen to the rejects?

"Conversely, services provided to individuals who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens are not basic and should not be guaranteed."

How do you spell "Into the oven!" in German??

"An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia. A less obvious example Is is guaranteeing neuropsychological services to ensure children with learning disabilities can read and learn to reason."

Yes indeed. That is one scary dude talking there. And who is he? Ezekiel Emanuel, health care advisor to Obamie.

But the White House goes on.

In this video, Linda Douglass, the communications director for the White House’s Health Reform Office, addresses one example that makes it look like the President intends to "eliminate" private coverage, when the reality couldn’t be further from the truth.

For the record, the President has consistently said that if you like your insurance plan, your doctor, or both, you will be able to keep them. He has even proposed eight consumer protections relating specifically to the health insurance industry.

Unfortunately for the White House we have a video of him saying, in 2003 that he wants a single payer system.

Now I happen to favor that. Let's just expand Medicare and get on with life. Everybody gets the same treatment, everybody pays through a national sales tax and we keep the same delivery system.

Will it cost? Yes. But what we have now is expensive. The thing is Obamie won't tell you that. He prefers to lie.

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

In the Soviet Union and in Cuba they were called "Block Captains." Nixon had his infamous enemies list and now we have Obamie's Dime Droppers."

And the Main Stream Media and the idiots from Gollywood who worried 24/7 about losing their civil rights when Bush was Prez say nothing.

These people truly are a "Generation of Vipers."

Obama wasn't the first Democrat

Colorado's Democrat Governor Richard Lamm said the following... It was the end of his career.

AP (The New York Times); National Desk

March 29, 1984, Thursday

Late City Final Edition, Section A, Page 16, Column 5, 512 words

Elderly people who are terminally ill have a ''duty to die and get out of the way'' instead of trying to prolong their lives by artificial means, Gov. Richard D. Lamm of Colorado said Tuesday. People who die without having life artificially extended are similar to ''leaves falling off ...

Link

Of course he complained and complained, as the link shows, that he didn't say it, that it was out of context, etc. Never the less:

Mr. Lamm provided excerpts from the 1984 speech, in which he spoke philosophically about the terminally ill of any age, about the extraordinary costs of high-technology medicine and about the ability of medical science to stave off death far beyond considerations of quality of life. After saying that society should be talking about the ethical implications, Mr. Lamm said, according to the excerpts: "We've got a duty to die and get out of the way with all of our machines and artificial hearts and everything else like that and let the other society, our kids, build a reasonable life."

Why do these politicians always hide behind the "spoke philosophy" bit? It is plain that the Democratic health plan has a basic cost containment rule that the elderly should be denied care. Been that way for 25 years.

NFL expands

The coach had put together the perfect team for the Detroit Lions. The only thing that was missing was a good quarterback. He had scouted all the colleges and even the Canadian and European Leagues, but he couldn't find a ringer who could ensure a Super Bowl win.

Then one night while watching CNN he saw a war-zone scene in Afghanistan . In one corner of the background, he spotted a young Afghan Muslim soldier with a truly incredible arm. He threw a hand-grenade straight into a 15th story window 100 yards away.

KABOOM!

He threw another hand-grenade 75 yards away, right into a chimney.

KA-BLOOEY!

Then he threw another at a passing car going 90 mph.

BULLS-EYE!

"I've got to get this guy!" Coach said to himself. "He has the perfect arm!"

So, he brings him to the States and teaches him the great game of football. And the Lions go on to win the Super Bowl. The young Afghan is hailed as the great hero of football, and when the coach asks him what he wants, all the young man wants is to call his mother.

"Mom," he says into the phone, "I just won the Super Bowl!"

"I don't want to talk to you, the old Muslim woman says. "You deserted us. You are not my son!"

"I don't think you understand, Mother," the young man pleads "I've won the greatest sporting event in the world. I'm here among thousands of my adoring fans."

"No! Let me tell you!" his mother retorts. "At this very moment, there are gunshots all around us. The neighborhood is a pile of rubble. Your two brothers were beaten within an inch of their lives last week, and I have to keep your sister in the house so she doesn't get raped!" The old lady pauses, and then tearfully says,

"I will never forgive you for making us move to Detroit !"

Obama's tax increase target

" It's deja vu all over again"
Prior to the start of the Depression, Hoover's first Treasury Secretary, Andrew Mellon, had proposed, and saw enacted, numerous tax cuts, which cut the top income tax rate from 73% to 24%. When combined with the sharp decline in incomes during the early depression, the result was a serious deficit in the federal budget. Congress, desperate to increase federal revenue, enacted the Revenue Act of 1932. The Act increased taxes across the board, and the percentage increased with income, to near pre-1928 levels for top income earners. It also implemented a 13.75% tax on corporations.

You know, I am convinced. Obamie is deliberately trying to destroy the economy.

Who's in your wallet??

A good'un from Mile L.

Will the last government employee please turn out the lights??

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - As a government shutdown loomed, residents of Alabama's most populous county lined up Friday to renew their car registrations and settle their tax bills.

By Monday, at least a quarter of the county's 3,600 employees will be on unpaid leave and many county offices will be closed or cutting back hours.

The county, with 640,000 residents, has been on the brink of filing the nation's largest municipal bankruptcy for the past year due to a sewer bond fiasco that remains unresolved. Then things got worse: A judge ruled the county's occupational tax is illegal and courts refused to let the county spend the revenue from it while officials appeal.

I wonder why they just didn't cut wages 20% across the board and keep everythung going. Seeing as how all these employees, I am sure, are absolutely needed.

Whenever the Fed is shut down Congress closes the Washington Monument... Anything to cause discomfort and problems for the taxpayer.

Birthers, Bread and Butter Pickles and global warming

Bits and pieces

August 1st. At 7:00am it was 66 degrees... Tell me about man made global warming....

"Bread and Butter" pickles done yesterday. But my tomatoes won't ripen, even though the vines are loaded with the late crop. And this is the mid south. And the high forecasted through next Friday is 88 degrees. So it's off to the farmer's market for tomatoes to can... The okra is producing, but at a reduced rate. In the mean time the butternut squash, a colder weather crop, is doing well.. but man does not live by squash alone........

And I am happy to announce that the pigs have not returned. (Yes, WR. I mean PIGS as in animals with snouts, four legs and curly tails!)

In Congress the Blue Dogs have rolled over on their back" and Nancy P has scratched their bellies.... All of you people who voted for them because they were more conservative than Bush should be as proud as a bartender who sells booze to a drunk... and then the drunk kills someone on his drive home..

Maybe they should form a club... Democrat Official Enablers.... DOE for short.

Looks like the "birthers" have finally got some reaction from the Left so you know the point is being made.

This time, the body politic has lost its head. Really. There can be no other explanation for the group outrage directed at anyone who dares to wonder why it is that Barack Hussein Obama refuses to release his long-form, original birth certificate from whatever Hawaiian vault it is in to settle the "natural born" controversy once and for all. And there can be no other explanation for why it is that no one in the media has ever seen fit to ask him why he hasn't done so. If he has nothing to hide, why hide it? Of course, if he does have something to hide, he may have put over a giant fraud on the American people.

There seem to be two basic motives. One, from the Left, is pure protection. The strategy here is to tar anyone with questions as "Birthers"--fruitcakes and weirdos, dontcha know. The Right, rather than disputing the Left's characterization of the skeptics, rather than acknowledging there is something fishy about a man with nothing to hide hiding so very much, accepts the Left's characterization without question. Not surprisingly, the Right then deems the issue a political liability -- all on the Left's terms.

Link to Diana West

The Repubs are stupid in many respects... They remind me that Sweet Dreams Are Made of This.

I knew the Prez election was over when McCain started telling us we couldn't call Hussein, Hussein. It took me a while but I finally figured out that his military experience was Vietnam... a war in which the enemy told us what we couldn't do.

You never win those battles.

Of course the one thing I can not understand is this. All Obamie has to do is produce his birth certificate from the vault... the original long form... and he has made a bunch of Righties look stupid. I don't believe he could pass up a chance like that if he could do it.

6:00PM on August 1 and the temperature is 76 degrees. Tell me about that man made global warming...
