Subscription Poker

I kept seeing ads on TV for ClubWPT, a subscription site that will let you play poker for prizes and entries into various WPT tournaments. It’s all legal and for only $19.95 a month.

Not a bad price, so I joined.

But it ain’t poker. The tournaments are mostly based on a $1000 stack with short intervals and very fast play. In other words the action is forced. Get lucky immediately or you’re dead meat.

So if you want a time killer in which you might get lucky it is not a bad deal. If you want to play in a game that is closer to what you will find in live tournaments, ClubWPT isn’t the answer.

But, until the Feds figure out that legalizing poker would be great for the players and a huge revenue source it’s about the best around.

"Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them." - Karl Popper

“It’s the presumption that Obama knows how all these industries ought to be operating better than people who have spent their lives in those industries, and a general cockiness going back to before he was president, and the fact that he has no experience whatever in managing anything. Only someone who has never had the responsibility for managing anything could believe he could manage just about everything.” - Thomas Sowell in Reason Magazine
