Tiresome BS from the Chattering Class

If I have heard it once I have heard it a thousand times from the “media class.” It goes like this and is not limited to Lefties or Righties as well as the two or three in the middle.

“Trump is getting in the way of his own message.”

The crux of this is that the audience is not capable of entertaining multiple messages at the same time. That is nonsense. People hear/see/read information all the time and act on the inputs. It is the “media class” who can’t adjust to the new world and just be an information conduit.  They believe that it is their job to tell us what they think happened or was said.

This stems from the “journalism” disease that has infected most reporters. Their self-importance knows no bounds. Just as salesmen became account managers reporters became journalists. Supposedly this signified that they had attended a journalism school.

However, technology rules and change happens. Among the many jobs destroyed by the Internet were telephone operators, travel agents and many retail clerks.

A few years back the average newspaper reader would read the editorial page and a few columnists during the week. Many people did neither. The Internet opened up multiple inputs to the average person. Trump understood this and tapped into it. He is now President.

He can twitter in the morning about one thing while yesterday he announced something else. This bothers no one except the media who seemingly want only to write about something else.

Mr. or Ms “Journalist”, say hello to the dinosaurs.

Deconstructing Tomey

I’ve been ignoring my old bud, Dark Avenger, for years. And while you would think that when nothing new is published on a unimportant blog for months then the reader would give up and not visit the blog much less comment on whatever deep  thoughts I have written after a long time off.

But no. True to form he (she?) visits me and, as per usual, goes off topic to attack something Limbaugh said.

Here’s the post with comments.

If you’ve taken the trouble to read it you would know that it has nothing to about Limbaugh or Kennedy or the Soviets. It is just me pointing out that if you believe that your boss has violated the law and/or harmed the country there is a proper way to respond and it isn’t hard to understand.

You tell your boss. And if the boss doesn’t respond properly you call up some reporters and tell them you are resigning because….

It’s called, “Doing the right thing.”

Of course this whole deal was, and is, a lie. It is just politics. That it harms the country and goes far beyond being the “loyal opposition” is the only fact.

But Tomey didn’t do that. When his boss, Loretta Lynch, told him to refer to the Clinton investigation as a “matter” he followed orders.

Following orders as a justification has a long and terrible history. It was the German Excuse. And I’ll bet it was the excuse of Pol Pot’s followers and Mao’s and every follower of every mass murderer in history.

This isn’t me. I’m just following orders.

Tomey had to know when Lynn directed him to down play the Hillary investigation that Lynch was obstructing justice. But he ignored that. But he couldn’t totally do that when Lynch and Bill Clinton had their meeting prior to Hillary being interviewed. But did he instruct the agents to keep a record of the interview? No he did not.

But, to his credit, it did bother him.

So he went public with all the damning facts about her private server and how its use violated the law and he would recommend she be indicted…..Oppps… Of course he didn’t do that.

What he did was decide to put out all the details but claim that since there was no intent she could not be indicted. Which, of course, is horse hockey.  And the Repubs hated him and the Demos loved him. What he had done was to turn it over to the public.

“Here’s the facts, Joe and Jane. You be the judge. My hands are clean.”

And that appeared to be that.  But then enough stuff came to light that Tomey’s conclusions of the summer were suddenly doubtful in the fall. What would happen if Hillary was elected and then impeached? Tomey’s part would be played and replayed and his judgment would be shown to be awful.

So he decided to reopen the investigation. And his Demo friends hated him and his Repub enemies suddenly loved him and the election happened.

I don’t know if the October surprise defeated Hillary. While it didn’t help I think the real reason was that she was a terrible candidate who had worn out her welcome and the reopening just reminded enough people of all the scandals, from Whitewater on, that are tied to the Clintons. Enough people just said, “Enough is enough. Trump may be all the bad the media says he is but he isn’t a Clinton.”

So what is Tomey? Tomey is all in for Tomey. Look at the proof. He now wants to protect the FBI. Really?Yet last year he tossed the question of Hillary’s crookedness back to the voters when everyone knew that Hillary was the next Prez. But when the FBI’s, and by extension his, actions could be at risk in late October, he changed horses.

But then, to make things worse, when the Demos started their crusade to impeach Trump he decided he wouldn’t say that Trump was not being investigated. Look what happened the last time he decided to say that someone couldn’t be indicted. Worse, what would happen to him if the Demos managed to oust Trump? Revenge is indeed best served cold and he could see the Demos just dying to get to him.

So when he could have said, “Knock it off. Trump is not under investigation,” and let the whole thing die, he played along.  What a dog’s life he was living running back and forth between the embedded political power case, the media and the Demos and many RINO's.

But he misjudged Trump. Trump doesn’t and didn’t play by the rules and Tomey has damaged his legacy beyond repair and the Demos have played their trump card to early in the 2018 elections.

Sometimes I feel like a nut

Got the following from my bud Mike Lamp....
"Paraprosdokians" are figures of speech in which the latter part of a sentence or phrase is surprising or unexpected... frequently humorous. Winston Churchill loved them.
1. Where there's a will, I want to be in it.
2. The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it's still on my list.
3. Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
4. If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.
5. We never really grow up, we only learn how to act in public.
6. War does not determine who is right - only who is left.
7. Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
8. To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism. To steal from many is research.
9. I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
10. In filling out an application, where it says, 'In case of emergency, Notify:' I put 'DOCTOR'.
11. Women will never be equal to men until they can walk down the street with a bald head and a beer gut, and still think they are sexy.
12. You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.
13. I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure..
14. To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.
15. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.
16. You're never too old to learn something stupid.
17. I'm supposed to respect my elders, but its getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

AMERICAN WORKING IN MEXICO

Got this from Larry P. Been meaning to post it...
Before any more 'outrage' at the Arizona law . . . read what it's like from the other side of that fence...I Received the following from Tom O'Malley, who was a Director with S.W. BELL in Mexico City :

"I spent five years working in Mexico. I worked under a tourist Visa for three months and could legally renew it for three more months. After that you were working illegally. I was technically illegal for three weeks waiting on the FM3 approval.

"During that six months our Mexican and U.S. attorneys were working to secure a permanent work visa called a 'FM3'. It was in addition to my U.S. passport that I had to show each time I entered and left the country. Barbara's was the same, except hers did not permit her to work.

"To apply for the FM3, I needed to submit the following notarized originals (not copies):

1. Birth certificate for Barbara and me.

2. Marriage certificate.

3. High school transcripts and proof of graduation.

4. College transcripts for every college I attended and proof of graduation.

5. Two letters of recommendation from supervisors I had worked for at least one year.

6. A letter from the St. Louis Chief of Police indicating that I had no arrest record in the U.S. and no outstanding  warrants and, was "a citizen in good standing".

7.Finally, I had to write a letter about myself that clearly stated why there was no Mexican citizen with my skills and why my skills were important to Mexico .

We called it our 'I am the greatest person on Earth' letter. It was fun to write.

"All of the above were in English that had to be translated into Spanish and be certified as legal translations, and our signatures notarized. It produced a folder about 1.5 inches thick with English on the left side & Spanish on the right."

"Once they were completed, Barbara and I spent about five hours, accompanied by a Mexican attorney, touring  Mexican government office locations and being photographed and fingerprinted at least three times at each location, and we remember at least four locations where we were  instructed on Mexican tax, labor, housing, and criminal law and that we were required to obey their laws or face the consequences.

We could not protest any of the government's actions or we would be committing a felony. We paid out four thousand dollars in fees and bribes to complete the process. When this was done we could legally bring in our household goods that were held by U.S. Customs in Laredo , Texas .

This meant we had rented furniture in Mexico while awaiting our goods. There were extensive fees involved here that the company paid."

"We could not buy a home and were required to rent at very high rates and under contract and compliance with Mexican law."

"We were required to get a Mexican driver's license. This was an amazing process. The company arranged for the licensing agency to come to our headquarters location with their photography and fingerprint equipment and the laminating machine. We showed our U.S. license, were photographed and fingerprinted again and issued the license instantly after paying out a six dollar fee. We did not take a written or driving test and never received instructions on the rules of the road. Our only instruction was to never give a policeman your license, if stopped and asked. We were instructed to hold it against the inside window away from his grasp. If he got his hands on it you, would have to pay ransom to get it back."

"We then had to pay and file Mexican income tax annually using the number of our FM3 as our ID number. The  company's Mexican accountants did this for us and we just signed what they prepared. It was about twenty legal size pages annually."

"The FM3 was good for three years and renewable for two more after paying more fees."

"Leaving the country meant turning in the FM3 and certifying we were leaving no debts behind and no outstanding legal affairs (warrants, tickets or liens)  before our household goods were released to customs."

"It was a real adventure and if any of our Senators or Congressmen went through it once, they would have a different  attitude toward Mexico ."

"The Mexican government uses its vast military and police forces to keep its citizens intimidated and  compliant. They never protest at their capitol or government offices, but do protest daily in front of the United States Embassy. The U.S. Embassy looks like a strongly reinforced fortress and during most protests the Mexican military surrounds the block with their men standing shoulder to shoulder in full riot gear to protect the Embassy. These protests are never shown on U.S. or Mexican TV. There is a large public park across the street  where they do their protesting. Anything can cause a protest such as proposed law changes in California or Texas ."

Please feel free to share this with everyone who thinks we are being hard on the illegals. Right!! Most Americans of the liberal left persuasion would never understand this..Most are blind to this reality.

How the Constellation became star of the skies

We called them “Willy Victor,” short for WV2/EC121. Here’s a nice article written by Lockheed that has some history of them.

The Connie was a sweet ride and could handle the weather and all the other problems presented by flying around the Arctic Circle and the North Pole.

But the article barely mentions the early warning flights flown out of Keflavik by VW-11 and VW-13. The two squadrons were based in Argentia, NFLD
and deployed to ;Keflavik, Iceland for flights to the east and west looking for Soviet aircraft and missiles. The Air Force had other barriers and the Navy had barriers in the west out of Midway. There were land based radar sites in Alaska, Canada and Greenland.

Yes, boys and girls, once upon time there was a “Cold War” and it was as serious as it gets. Well, as you know, we didn’t catch any ICBM’s heading for the US but did report a few Russian “Bear” bombers who seemed to run a regular route down to Cuba who had, a few years before, helped the Soviet’s try and install missiles that could hit any target within the US before we could launch a retaliatory strike. That was kind of important because there was this thing called Mutually Assured Destruction – MAD. The plan was that if each side could destroy the other, and being rational people, then neither side would launch a first strike.  But just in case, we watched. If I remember right if we caught them launching we could give early warning which would let us launch back… The needed warning  time was around 15 minutes…and there would be no second chances.

Notice the “being rational people.” That doesn’t work with radical Islam. One of the things I would do is tell the Muslim countries that if the shit keeps up we will take out Mecca or Medina…..or maybe both. Then torch off a couple of nukes in the deserts and maybe one off the coasts of Indonesia just to be sure everyone got the message. Hopefully that would rationalize the Muslim world and they would deal with radical Islam.

But enough current events. Here’s a short amateur film showing some grainy shots of “Willy Victors” flying in and around Newfoundland. If you look close enough you can see where my wife and I lived for a while with our two girls.

Lord I’d like to go back and do it again.

We have a winner!

Think about it – these tenured Leftards are giving the finger both to traditional Swedes and to Jews at the same time, while noisily proclaiming their soumission to the cult of Islam. (And yes, it is Jews that totalitarian Swedish Leftists hate, not “Israelis.”)
One also suspects that some senior Swedish diplomats stationed in Israel may have decided to decamp to cooler climes in June, so naturally their national day celebration had to give way to their Excellencies’ personal convenience.

In the beginning there was the investigation.

And the result was a detailed list of Hillary’s crimes but weren’t crimes because according to Comey there was no intent. That was the beginning of Comey’s end.

Let us review.

Hillary had intent. Her intent was to hide her words and actions. She did so because she hates criticism and is use to getting her way. I am speaking of a woman who was given $100,000 when she needed it, stymied an investigation by "hiding" documents in her closet, fired people who had worked in the WH as travel agents for years and hired her friends as pay back, lied about Benghazi even though there was a video of her and on and on. So she knew establishing a special private email system was wrong.  But after a life time of skirting the law and living off influence she felt safe enough to believe she could do what she wanted.

But she is not stupid and she was not uninformed. She knew classified information would be sent over it.

She knew what would happen and she knew it would be wrong. But her fear of being caught and knowledge that emails showing how she was selling influence to the presumed to be office of the president to both foreign and US people/organizations would be on the server made her decide to set up the email system.

Her intent was to conceal a crime. Selling  influence. Pay for play. Quid pro quo.

And the proof is not just the demonstrated sending of classified information regarding government information. It is the thousands of emails illegally deleted.

The classified emails are the smoking gun. The missing emails are the bullets. They are the "dog that did not bark." That is the proof of intent to commit a crime. That is the proof of a crime.

Now, let's look at some of the players who got pulled into the crime as it started to collapse.

First we have ex President Clinton and the Attorney General of the United States.

Why in God's name would these two try to meet in secret just before an agency of Lynch's DOJ, the FBI, was set to interview Hillary?

Well, they didn't think they would be caught and they needed to make sure all the plans were in order. That each knew what was expected of the other.

Why wasn't the interview with Hillary taped?

But it didn't work out. They were seen and in the resulting media coverage and criticism, Lynch was forced to recuse herself.  Enter Comey.

The question about Comey’s entrance and subsequent public actions becomes, “Why?”

Why did Comey decide to become a prosecutor rather than a investigator?  After all, it is the Federal Bureau of Investigation, not the Federal Bureau of Prosecution.

If you believe, as I do, that Comey is basically a honest man and wanted to do what was right, he was unhappy that Lynch had slipped aside and turned it over to her Deputy AG.  I think he had the information, knew that multiple crimes had been committed and knew that if he just sent the information up the chain of command the result would be that a report would be issued  no crime had been committed, no intent, just at its worst, a minor error of judgment on Hillary’s part. And no details provided because it contained classified information.

At that point he decided that the American people should know. That’s why he seized the initiative, gave out all the details so that the public could see just how nefarious Hillary was.

https://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/statement-by-fbi-director-james-b-comey-on-the-investigation-of-secretary-hillary-clinton2019s-use-of-a-personal-e-mail-system

But to save the FBI as an organization….can you imagine the fire storm that would have descended on the FBI if he had recommended prosecution?......he claimed there was no intent.

And the Democrats mostly loved him. They wished he hadn’t done anything and the Republicans disliked him because they felt he had done nothing.

But then the information about more emails came forth and he was trapped. If he ignored it and it was proven to be criminal the FBI would be greatly harmed.

If he announced it the FBI would be shown impartial in its dealings and Hillary would win anyway.

But Hillary did not win and the Democrats hated him.

And the rest is history. The Left, with the willing help of a corrupt media, concocted a story about Russia and Trump that is still in play.

Now Trump decided that Comey couldn’t continue to lead a fractured organization so he fired Comey.

And the Left has proven itself to be Mother Of All Hypocrites and attacked Trump for doing what they wanted to do until it was done.

What's in a word?

What a day. I’ll spare you the details but I went to the doctor because I got a bit food poisoned last night and needed some advice on what was a good gas breaker and diarrhea plug…and the pain in the center/ right side which had gotten worse on the way to the clinic.

Before it was over they were drawing blood and taking X-rays… The diagnosis?

The pain was caused by some gall bladder stones. Which, if I live long enough, will have to be dealt with. Pepto-Bismo and Gas-X for the bloating and such.

This wasn’t the first time that the medical profession thought I was having a heart attack. I woke up one morning in Las Vegas with sharp pain shooting down my left arm. A few minutes later I was riding down the street in an ambulance..followed by a lot of tests…finally a doctor came in and asked, “Mr Lewis, have you had herpes before?”

“HERPES!!!” I yelled. “No! Why do you ask?”

“Well, I am glad to tell you,” she said, “You didn’t have a heart attack. You have a herpes outbreak.”

She must have seen the panic in my face. “The common name is shingles… The medical name is Herpes Zoster….see those little red dots on the back side of your left shoulder?”

To cap the day off I had to walk a mile to the hospital’s cab stand to catch a cab back to my hotel.

Counting chickens

As you can tell, if you have read the previous post, I have suffered a serious case of “counting your chickens before they hatch.”

Believe it or not, the Republicans, one more time, found a way to lose. They managed to let Obamacare survive.

It is hard to believe but they managed to demonstrate, again, that they are controlled by the “I’d rather be Right,” wing of the party.

I mean they almost nominated a presidential candidate, take your pick, that Hillary would have beat like a drum. But having paid attention to what the broad middle part of their party wanted, they again decided to lecture it and go against the President that the middle elected.

As Gump said, “Stupid is as stupid does.”

Actually, I can set this one out. I have single payer health care insurance.  I have Medicare.

Not really. Medicare is not a single payer system. You have a 20% deductible for doctor services, a healthy deductible for hospital services, drugs they may or not be covered by the Part D Drug coverage and then there’s ER charges, oxygen, blood, etc., etc. And then there’s the monthly premium and I probably missed some charges.

OTOH Medicaid for the poor is single payer. The taxpayer pays.

And now the Democrats are bringing back the single payer system concept. But not how to pay for it.

I have long supported a single payer system modeled on Medicare but expanded to 100% payment by the government. And included in that would be dental, hearing  and vision coverage including devices.

Yeah, I know that will be expensive. The question then falls back to how to pay for it.

The Left will come up with some type of income tax increase. Which, of course, assures failure because the people already having employer provided insurance will strongly oppose paying for someone else’s healthcare. They’ll note, quite accurately, that a family of 4 pays no federal tax on income of up to about $50,000 and others have the so-called Earned Income credit.

The Right will oppose it on “principle.” Most of that being that Medicaid, if they can get it, covers the poor already and the rich can pay for their own.

The problem is that all the payees are somewhat right.  People paying shouldn’t be paying again.  And while the obvious benefits of government, common defense, infrastructure, etc., can have their payment justified by a graduated income tax by the saying that the benefits cover everyone, when you start to call for specific benefits covering a specific class then it can’t be justified. And that’s what mean’s testing does. And while welfare can be justified as a “hand up” it falls into disrespect when the “hand up” stretches into generations and such dubious things as giving aid to illegal aliens and legal immigrants/refugees.

So the obvious fair way of paying for healthcare is a federal sales tax.  And I say by a sales tax that is collected at the point of sale so that the citizen can see the tax on a daily basis. It should never be a VAT which is hidden.

Of course the Left will scream fairness. Why should the poor be taxed on a necessity such as food because they pay a higher percentage of their income for food. Well, just exempt certain items. Unprepared food, utilities, used cars over 5 years of age….and I’m sure I missed some.

And since no one will be purchasing healthcare insurance a lot of people will get a raise, including business owners and others who had been purchasing insurance for someone else. They can be made to transfer all previous payments made to the insurance companies to the employees that use to receive the benefits.

So let’s give the Demos a round of applause for thinking about and a hearty chorus of boos for wanting to introduce a plan that will never pass…and both sides nasty hisses for bowing to their special interests and never never never actually doing something that helps everyone.

About replacing Obamacare

One of the really good things about replacing Obamacare is the ability to purchase insurance across stateliness. IOW, a national market versus a state market which in turn is broken down into Zip Codes within the state.

What this does is run up the costs in some areas and down in others. And since it is done on such a small group the results are drastically uneven prices.

Remember insurance is about spreading risks, and the costs, across large groups of people.

Now we are being told that this change to a national market can’t be done due to some arcane Senate/House rules. But, we are assured it will be added later.

Watch this one. The Insurance Commissioners across various states don’t like it because they lose power. The insurance companies don’t like it because it adds competition.

A lesson in morals

The deal is this. The Left wants to claim that Flynn did wrong and but for the illegal leaks of someone in the intelligence agencies, no one would know.

It is a claim that two wrongs make a right. “We had to destroy the village to save it.”

So the question is as old as sin
.
Who will watch the watchers?

Given that the FISA court was contacted when a US citizen was listened to, and we have no way of knowing that, and the conversation was assumed to have some illegality about it, you would hope and assume that it would be referred to the DOJ.

The DOJ would then try and determine if the conversation was illegal. Either way, if the person was on the President's staff/employment, you would assume he would be informed.

Nowhere in that chain do we have any reason whatsoever for any information to be leaked to the press or anyone else.

Now, IF the actions of the President, in the eyes of the AG, were found to be unacceptable then the AG should go public and resign. If that doesn't happen then others within the chain should go public and resign.

The press and the voters can then become involved.

But that isn't what is happening. What we have are people who are political opponents of the President trying to harm the President from the shadows.

That's wrong. They weren’t elected and by doing so they send a chill through our political processes and reveal to the enemy our ability to collect intelligence.

And yes, if the "going public" is required I understand that the individuals will be harmed, if not physically, then professionally. But that comes with the job just as was the possibility of being killed in training or combat comes with being in the military or any other job that entails “defending the Constitution."

Simply put, if you don’t want such responsibilities then don’t take the job.

“South Carolina 6th Graders Learn Five Pillars of Islam,” by Trey Sanchez,

“TruthRevolt has kept a careful eye on this phenomenon, reporting on instances such as inCalifornia, Florida, Tennessee, and Minnesota where students either sang songs about Ramadan (complete with the lyrics “Allahu Akbar”), designed a Muslim prayer rug, or wrote down the five pillars of Islam, including “all people must submit to Allah.”

“The latest has occurred in Summerville, South Carolina at Alston Middle School, where 6th graders learned about the five pillars and were instructed on the “correct” interpretation of verses from the Koran.”

And here’s the lie they’re being told.

“Islam is a religion of (peace). If I believe in Islam, I am called a (Muslim). In the Islamic religion, we call God (Allah). I may dress differently than other kids. I feel (bad) that a few people of my religion committed terrorist acts. I do not believe in terrorists’ idea of a ‘holy war.’”

Maybe true for one kid. But definitively not true for some  members of the group.

“One parent told a local news station that permission should’ve been asked for before giving a lesson on religious values.

Gee, you think? You have to wonder where the parents's heads are at. They’re definitely not paying attention.

Trump and the Confederate Flag

Before I start let me say that I am not a fan of “Ancestory.” I have never worn a pair of lederhosen and the cold air that would flow over my more tender parts caused by wearing a kilt leads me to wonder about the judgment of grown men who prance around explaining they were confused about who their ancestors were but have now been saved by the magic of genetic analysis.

Indeed.

The best I can tell, based on family stories, is that I have ancestors. Quite a few in fact. Since a generation, the average time it takes to produce children, is about 25 years, then if I go back 250 years, 10 generations, then I have 2048 great, great, great, etc., grandparents.

And since I don’t have three eyes and twitch when I walk I believe it was a diverse group.

On a more recent note the story is that one of my great granddaddies fought for the South, was wounded in the Battle of Corinth, captured, escaped, married a Indian woman and lived more or less happily ever after. There’s more to it but since I foresee your eyes slamming shut I will spare you the details.

But one of the more interesting things is that he was born and raised on a small farm in western Kentucky and, like some 90 plus percent of Confederate fighters owned no slaves. Given that standing up and shooting at each other using 58 caliber rifles, dying of diseases, starving on short rations, freezing in the cold and other assorted ways of dying is quite nasty, the question is, “Why in the world would the 90% do this for the 10%?”

That question has been asked for years by the more thoughtful among us. My great grandfather had no “skin in the game” so why did he fight?

Let me ask you people who claim it was to keep slaves. Really? He had no slaves. The answer is more complex than “slavery.”

We can start with why did the North Vietnam peasant fight to install communism? Why did the average German fight to keep Hitler in power. Why did the Germanic tribes resist Caesar?  Why does the average Muslim fight?

The answer is so simple that all the “jerks under pressure,” aka “experts,” will reject it. Because the enemy was there.

Oh, there is more to it than that. The 10% manipulate the 90% through various methods. The radical Islamic leaders use religion. The West has been very effective in using “patriotism.”  But the base is “because they were there.” Roosevelt, even though it was obvious we had to rescue Europe, was wise enough to wait until the homeland was attacked.

On a side note Bush did nothing until 9/11 but by 2008 the surrender monkeys and America haters managed to help the Islamist enough to get us into a SOFA agreement in Iraq that Obama gratefully signed thus birthing ISIS.

Of course any dummy could foresee that. Even me. Here’s a comment I made in  2007 on the Left’s website, TalkLeft.

Actually we could argue over the reasons, but so what.

The issue now is that when the Surrender Party pulls out of Iraq the world will see us as weak.

Weak people and lambs get attacked.”

But I digress. Let’s get back to the Confederate flag, diversity and Vanderbilt.

Just as I don’t wear lederhosen or kilts; I do not fly the Confederate flag. Never have. But, unlike the Left wingers who trill diversity’s false song, I understand why some people do.

To frame that, you’re going to have to understand that the “War Between the States” wasn’t over when Lee surrendered. In the phase called “Reconstruction” the south was overrun with Carpet Baggers with various amounts of political influence who took power and did various illegal and immoral things. This resurrected the “because they are here” base. The result? The KKK and associated pieces of trash who wanted to get their power back. That is the base reason that the leaders of the local KKK’s were the power holders and brokers in southern society.

The results were just like the “War Between the States.”  The Yankee’s were the cause because they were, if not physically then in spirit, “there” and were the reason that Brother died at Shiloh and Uncle is crippled and we have “10 cents cotton and 40 cents meat and how in the world can a poor man eat?”

The South was devastated and remained a rural agricultural society while the North lived through the age of the Rockefeller and Vanderbilt peasant rulers and while Teddy Roosevelt had Southerners in his “Rough Riders” the reforms he preached hardly made an impact below the Mason Dixon line. It took a couple of wars and a revolution in agricultural equipment making the poor white and black sharecroppers unneeded and  forced to leave the “frosty morns” of the South and move to the soot covered  snow of the industrial north.

Think I overstate? Well, drive south on US 61 from Memphis into what was once the poorest county in the US, Tunica…that also had the highest number of millionaires per capita.  What you will see now is monster tractors tilling thousands of acres while the grand children shoot and kill each other in Chicago. But the millionaires are mostly still there along with a new set. Casino types making a living off welfare money from the Memphis area.

But I’m getting ahead of myself.

Starting in the 50’s, business being business, factories followed the Mississippi river down to the cheap labor and started locating in the south. In the small town and surrounding county I live in by the mid 60’s there were 5 factories employing some 7000 people. And compared to chopping cotton these were good paying jobs. Some were union some not. New homes were being built. Downtown’s were thriving. Businesses were opening. Population was expanding.

But by the mid 70’s the trend was starting.  Stores in the city core were closing in the face of competition from the big department stores in the expanded shopping center 15 miles away. A factory closed because it couldn’t match the lower price from foreign competition and by the end of the 70’s the largest employer closed and merged two divisions into one. Again foreign competition. 3000 jobs just gone.

And the Republican leadership didn’t do a damn thing. Nothing. Zero. Nada.

Oh, wait. They did managed to get together with the Democrats and open the immigration floodgates

In between times we fought the Vietnam War and the Democrats surrendered while the Republicans wrapped themselves in the flag. When communism collapsed the radical islamists hopped up to become the villain of the day and Bush declared a “War On Terror “ that had been started by members of “The Religion of Peace.”

Yeah. I also find that confusing.

And the immigrants just kept on coming. Eleven million illegal and about a million a year legal.

Before long the “trades” were wiped out along with meat packing, yard care and almost any service type work that didn’t require good English and was mostly out of the public’s eye.

The WOT continued and Obama was elected and the economy collapsed and it was all the Republicans fault and don’t say Merry Christmas and we now have more genders that Carter had Little Liver pills and the jobs kept on disappearing while the unemployment rate kept on rising and Obamacare helped some and hurt many but don’t mention Universal Health Care because it doesn’t work in Canada and the rest of the world.

We even lied on our Presidential Approval Poll.  I mean when everyone says the country is going in the wrong direction but the President is at a 55%.....they gotta be lying…one way or the other.

So with everyone but our Dear Leaders recognizing that we have more problems than a pregnant nun the election comes and they offer us more of the same.

And they can’t understand why Trump won. Or why some folks fly the Confederate flag.

It is simple.

Let me educate you.

It is because “they” are here. And we are damn well tired of them.
