Bits and pieces

The garden is done except for the candy... which is what I call okra... And if you ever eat it fried like my wife fries it you will understand... It will continue to grow and bear new pods until frost... I have seen some in Louisiana that had to be picked using a step ladder.

But overall the garden was a bust. The tomato plants had a hard start because of the late cold wet spring and the bell peppers just never made it. The onions and cabbage did good, but they are cool weather plants. The squash bore well, but I wound up in competition with the squirrels and rabbits. As I also did with the strawberries.

Visual evidence is displayed above.

My Dad always said a bad garden means a bad winter is coming. Don't tell Pope Algore.

Who didn't know this??

He was warmly received by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who called him "a leader that God has blessed us with at this time."

Surprise, surprise.... Sgt Carter

Democrat Barack Obama has had about a 3 to 1 advantage over Republican John McCain in Post Page 1 stories since Obama became his party's presumptive nominee June 4. Obama has generated a lot of news by being the first African American nominee, and he is less well known than McCain -- and therefore there's more to report on. But the disparity is so wide that it doesn't look good.
