President Apology

You know, it looks like all that practice of ass kissing President Apology did early own is paying off.

States Rights

It does my good old boy soul wonders for the Left in this country to discover the ninth and tenth Amendments even if what they want doesn't flic my bic. Of course it took them having some skin in the game to get their support.

Enlightened self interest! Now there's a thought!

Colorado voters in November will decide whether limited possession of marijuana for any purpose should be legalized.

If passed, the initiative would make Colorado the only state in the nation to legalize marijuana for recreational use. On Monday, the measure became the first to qualify for the state's November ballot when the Colorado Secretary of State's Office announced its supporters had turned in enough valid signatures

Coming soon to your local service station!

I have called both my US Senators and House Representative giving them the same message.

It appears to me that you are setting on your ass. Do something about this or I won't vote for you in the next election.

Some suggestions:

Pass a law that restricts oil futures trading to only organizations that can take delivery of the product.

Pass a law that opens oil drilling on all government owned land and off all the coasts.

Get on TV and start telling OPEC we are mad as hell and are seriously considering making them an example of what happens to people that we are mad as hell at.

Here are some links that will give you their telephone numbers.  Go ahead. Drop a dime on'em.

Tribes and Bill Whittle

The following is the best rant I have ever read. It's by Bill Whittle and is just so full of common sense it

should be required reading for all junior and senior high school students as well as all Poly Sci students at all colleges and universities in the US. Here are some examples.

I believe that the human animal – the raw material of our physical bodies – is essentially interchangeable. By this I mean that I could take the children of Fallujah and turn them all into Astronauts, convert Jewish babies into fanatical, mass-murdering SS guards, and shake a generation of the poorest Voodoo-worshippers in Haiti into a cadre of top-flight nuclear physicists, chemical engineers and computer scientists.

Race has nothing to do with this – nothing. The mobs of murdering Hutus and swarms of slaughtering Serbs are as different racially as it is possible to be, and they are cut from precisely the same cloth.
snip

Now, with that said – have we all heard that loud and clear? – there are light-years of difference in how various Tribes will behave.

Only a few minutes ago, I had the delightful opportunity to read the comment of a fellow who said he wished that white, middle-class, racist, conservative cocksuckers like myself could have been herded into the Superdome Concentration Camp to see how much we like it. Absent, of course, was the fundamental truth of what he plainly does not have the eyes or the imagination to see, namely, that if the Superdome had been filled with white, middle-class, racist, conservative cocksuckers like myself, it would not have been a refinery of horror, but rather a citadel of hope and order and restraint and compassion.
That has nothing to do with me being white. If the blacks and Hispanics and Jews and gays that I work with and associate with were there with me, it would have been that much better. That’s because the people I associate with – my Tribe – consists not of blacks and whites and gays and Hispanics and Asians, but of individuals who do not rape, murder, or steal.

Amendment to the Patient and Public Care Act

or, "how to step on your dork with golf shoes."

Why the Repubs in the Senate feel they need a law to enforce the First Amendment I do not know.

I suspect it is because they want to grandstand for their base just as much as the Demos want to grandstand for theirs.

Let us revisit what the First Amendment says:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
It has long been recognized that the government has the right to decide what is a "church." (If you doubt me, go visit some of the many people in prison because they decided they would become a church and thus not have to pay taxes.)

Now comes Senator Blunt with an amendment that seeks to change, PPACA, which already excludes churches from having to provide insurance ("care") for certain items they feel violate their doctrines.

Senator Blunt wants to expand the exclusion to cover individuals, institutions who purchase and companies that provide insurance. In effect, he wants to expand the First Amendment.

He is supposedly doing this in response to the Obamacare mandate that would demand that church enities, hospitals, etc., provide birth control drugs. Use of and providing of said drugs violate the church's doctrinme.

The First Amendment, magnificent in its simple language, excludes churches. I think it is plain that entities controlled and operated by the churches are, by simple extension, churches and are also excluded. And I think that argument, focused on actual churches, is correct.

But individuals, companies (both sellers and buyers) are not churches. Never have been.

Senator Blunt would do well to withdraw his bill and fight the mandate on a truly constitutional side rather than posture with an amendment that will only aid the Left and, if enacted, be declared unconstitutional.

Or even worse, put the government in the position of deciding what company or individual has the right to exercise their "morals and beliefs" and who do not.

This bill is truly a fine example of "fire, aim, ready!"

This should tell you all you need to know about why we are broke

Curse those wealthy Americans with their corporate jets and million-dollar yachts.

Well, actually, it’s not just the big-business types who own million-dollar yachts. The port of Los Angeles is the proud owner of a 73-foot luxury craft, which it purchased in 1988 and uses for public relations tours of the harbor.

You might think with the city in dire financial straits that they might sell off the yacht (which Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa insists on calling “a boat”). Instead, L.A. is “investing” $489,000 in federal taxpayer stimulus money to install new engines. Not that there is anything wrong with theold engines. Rather, it is that they run on diesel fuel (and hence fail to meet California emissions standards) and so are being swapped out for low-emission “green” hybrid motors.

A poker ahole

We have all seen this guy.

You've picked up an AK suited in position 4. Positions 2 and 3 have folded and you raise. Positions 5 and 6 fold and 7 calls. Positions 8 and 9 folds and 10 calls.

So far, so good.

The flop comes J 8 4. You decide you have the best hand and bet. Position 7 hesitates and finally calls. Position 10 also hesitates and then calls.

The turn pairs the board and you now see J J 8 4.

Not very encouraging, but you reason that if position 7 or 10 had a Jack they would have raised so you bet.

Again position 7 hesitates and then calls followed by position 10 doing the same.

A 3 comes on the river. Again you consider the lack of raise and the hesitation of the calls. So you bet.

Now comes the fun part.

Position 7 looks at his cards. He figets in his seat. He scratches his head, looking over at position 10.

And position 10 has picked his cards up holding them in the classic "toss into the muck" and fold grip.

Position 7 waits.

Position 10 starts to muck his hand then stops.

Position 7 calls. Position 10 folds.

And you turn over the AK and position 7 shows a T 4 and you lose.

Now you know and position 7 knows he wouldn't have called if position 10 hadn't showed the world he was folding.

You wish, briefly, you had a six gun in your holster so you could shoot position 10 secure in the knowledge that if the jury had only 1 poker player in it you would walk free.

But you don't have a weapon. So you settle for "ass hole" under your breath.

On religious freedom

First off let me say that I think the Catholic position on birth control is wrong.

But what I think has nothing to do with it. The Church has that right. And the government has no right of mandate by force of law that ANY church violate its doctrine.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Link

So when the government tells a religious organization that it MUST provide a service to anyone, employees and others, that the organization feels violates its religious doctrine, no matter how you or any one else feels that the doctrine is wrong.... the government has violated the Constitution.

Now many Lefties, and even some not so Left, are claiming that since some Catholic organizations have accepted government money then the government has the right to tell them what to do in this matter.

As Colonel Potter said, "Horse hockey."

The fact the government has previously given money to the religious organization and that the money has been accepted does not give the government the right to tell the religious organization it must violate its doctrine. The government has the right to withhold future money, and the right to specify certain requirements in advance of giving future money.

But the fact that previous funds may have been given and accepted prior to a stated and defined agreement of performance that covers the item(s) in dispute does not give the government the right to force the religious organization to violate its doctrine.

BTW - That's just plain ole contract law. Simpler. You can't change the terms in the middle of the deal.

Only the Left would try such an over reach.

Analyzing Tiger Woods

SIMPLY AMAZING WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT

Isn't it amazing that, within only one week of Tiger Woods crashing his Escalade, the press found every woman with whom Tiger has had an affair during the last few years?

And, they even uncovered photos, text messages, recorded phone calls, etc.!

Furthermore, they not only know the cause of the family fight, but they even know it was a 9 iron from his golf bag that his wife used to break out the windows in the Escalade.

And, each and every day, they were able to continue to provide America with updates on Tiger's sex rehab stay, his wife's divorce settlement figures, as well as the dates & tournaments in which he will play.

Now, Barack Hussein Obama has been in office for almost three years, yet this very same press :

Cannot find any of his childhood friends or neighbors;

Or find any of Obama's high school or college classmates;

Or locate any of his college papers or grades;

Or determine how he paid for both a Columbia & a Harvard education;

Or discover which country issued his visa to travel to Pakistan in the 1980's;

Or even find Michelle Obama's Princeton thesis on racism.

They just can't seem to uncover any of this.

Yet, the public still trusts that same press to give them the whole truth!

Don't you find that totally amazing ?

You cannot get the water to clear up until you get the pigs out of the creek.

Abbott and Costello examine unemployment

COSTELLO: I want to talk about the unemployment rate in America.

ABBOTT: Good Subject. Terrible Times. It’s 8.3%.

COSTELLO: That many people are out of work?

ABBOTT: No, that’s 16%.

COSTELLO: You just said 8.3%.

ABBOTT: 8.3% Unemployed.

COSTELLO: Right 8.3% out of work.

ABBOTT: No, that’s 16%.

COSTELLO: Okay, so it’s 16% unemployed.

ABBOTT: No, that’s 8.3%…

COSTELLO: WAIT A MINUTE. Is it 8.3% or 16%?

ABBOTT: 8.3% are unemployed. 16% are out of work.

COSTELLO: IF you are out of work you are unemployed.

ABBOTT: No, you can’t count the "Out of Work" as the unemployed. You have to look for work to be unemployed.

COSTELLO: BUT THEY ARE OUT OF WORK!!!

ABBOTT: No, you miss my point.

COSTELLO: What point?

ABBOTT: Someone who doesn’t look for work, can’t be counted with those who look for work. It wouldn’t be fair.

COSTELLO: To who?

ABBOTT: The unemployed.

COSTELLO: But they are ALL out of work.

ABBOTT: No, the unemployed are actively looking for work… Those who are out of work stopped looking.

They gave up and if you give up, you are no longer in the ranks of the unemployed.

COSTELLO: So if you’re off the unemployment rolls, that would count as less unemployment?

ABBOTT: Unemployment would go down. Absolutely!

COSTELLO: The unemployment just goes down because you don’t look for work?

ABBOTT: Absolutely it goes down. That’s how you get to 8.3%. Otherwise it would be 16%. You don’t want to read about 16% unemployment do ya?

COSTELLO: That would be frightening.

ABBOTT: Absolutely.

COSTELLO: Wait, I got a question for you. That means there are two ways to bring down the unemployment number?

ABBOTT: Two ways is correct.

COSTELLO: Unemployment can go down if someone gets a job?

ABBOTT: Correct.

COSTELLO: And unemployment can also go down if you stop looking for a job?

ABBOTT: Bingo.

COSTELLO: So there are two ways to bring unemployment down, and the easier of the two is to just stop looking for work.

ABBOTT: Now you’re thinking like an economist.

COSTELLO: I don’t even know what the hell I just said!

Hat tip to who ever sent me this. I'm having a Senior Moment!

Holiday Inn for retirement!

Where to live when you retire!!!

No NURSING HOME FOR me!!!

No nursing home for us. We'll be checking into a Holiday Inn!

With the average cost for a nursing home care costing $188.00 per day, there is a better way when we get old and too feeble.

I've already checked on reservations at the Holiday Inn.

For a combined long term stay discount and senior discount, it's $59.23 per night.

Breakfast is included, and some have happy hours in the afternoon.

That leaves $128.77 a day for lunch and dinner in any restaurant we want, or room service, laundry, gratuities and special TV movies.

Plus, they provide a spa, swimming pool, a workout room, a lounge and washer-dryer, etc.

Most have free toothpaste and razors, and all have free shampoo and soap.

$5 worth of tips a day you'll have the entire staff scrambling to help you.

They treat you like a customer, not a patient.

There's a city bus stop out front, and seniors ride free.

The handicap bus will also pick you up (if you fake a decent limp).

To meet other nice people, call a church bus on Sundays.

For a change of scenery, take the airport shuttle bus and eat at one of the nice restaurants there.

While you're at the airport, fly somewhere. Otherwise, the cash keeps building up.

It takes months to get into decent nursing homes. Holiday Inn will take your reservation today.

And you're not stuck in one place forever -- you can move from Inn to Inn, or even from city to city.

Want to see Hawaii ? They have Holiday Inn there too.

TV broken? Light bulbs need changing? Need a mattress replaced? No problem.. They fix everything, and apologize for the inconvenience.

The Inn has a night security person and daily room service. The maid checks to see if you are ok. If not, they'll call an ambulance . .. or the undertaker.

If you fall and break a hip, Medicare will pay for the hip, and Holiday Inn will upgrade you to a suite for the rest of your life.

And no worries about visits from family. They will always be glad to find you, and probably check in for a few days mini-vacation.

The grandkids can use the pool.

What more could I ask for?
