I'm partial to Oscar Peterson (Blue Moon). He was from Montreal where I grew up. I heard him play in discos. Also Paul Anka from Ottawa. I heard him with friends when he was starting (Put your head on my shoulder). Of course, I love Nat King Cole (Love is a many....) Gale Storm, Buddy Holly...They're so good! There are some, on that list, I never heard yet. It will be so enjoyable.
Different ones from different times... Definitely "Cry Me a River" and "Moonglow" from the 50's.. "You've Got the Magic Touch" and "Great Pretender" Almost anything from Chuck Berry... they all remind me of when I was young and supple... Never was a huge Elvis or Beattles fan... can't say why just wasn't... still like the early Supremes... "Fever" because of some great memories....I loved disco because it was great to dance to but no real memorable songs outside of some Donna Summers and Blonde... "Call Me" was my favorite pop in the 8 track and go fast fast fast tune.. "On The Road Again" by Wille and his "City of New Orleans.." Two all time favorites "MacAruther Park" and "Hollywood Nights" which has the greatest lyric in the world.... "She had a face that would let her get away.."
Thanks. That's a good list to start with. You have to remember that I didn't speak English till I was 25. I missed many artists. Of course, I know the French singers like Edith Piaf, Maurice Chevalier, Tino Rossi, Charles Trenet...
I didn't like Elvis. I think the gyrating put me off!!!! I was (am) a classical pianist. The Beatles music (rhythm) interested me, not the lyrics.
I've always been partial to male singers ;-) Thanks again. Have a good night!
An Engineer is not a Scientist. He doesn't think like a Scientist. He doesn't have the same value-system in his judgments. But he's even more anti-mystic than the Scientist!
- John W Cambell, Jr - Analog Science Fiction Science Fact, December 1966
Which explains why many scientists buy into the man made warming hoax and many engineers reject it. Scientists want to know why and believe. Engineers want to build.
