I had the chance to see some of the LA Poker Classic last week. It was very enjoyable, but not as enjoyable as it would have been to play in it, which I did not. Something about not having $10,000 for an entrance fee kept that from happening. But I did come away with some thoughts.

First, the main line pros continue to dominate, with a gifted amateur flashing to the top from time to time. That lends a lot of fun and excitement, but proves nothing beyond the fact that short term luck can make a difference.

The other thing I noticed was the greatly reduced number of limit games and the larger number of no limit games. Long term I think that will hurt poker for the simple reason that too many players will be busted out of the no limit games because they are beyond their skill level. Players moving up one, or even two, levels in a limit game may get their butts beat, but the length of the playing time allows them to improve their play. That isn’t true in no limit.

In the past, poker was played in your local pool room, country club, VFW, private games, etc. It was, to a certain degree, not socially acceptable, although more money was lost on your local golf course, then and now, than is on poker. However, golf was and is acceptable. Poker has just recently achieved a certain degree of acceptance.

There’s not much the casinos and card rooms can do to stop this, but they can limit the dollar size of the games and be doubly careful to supervise the games. A NL 40-80game is HUGE, and as the prayer says, “lead me not into temptation.”

Over on the Demo side

I see a lot of gnashing of teeth and pulling of hair about what to do about how to fix the problem of the Demo primary voters in Florida and Michigan not, as it currently stands, having their votes count because they ignored the DNC's rules and voted earlier than approved.

It appears the most popular plan is to have a re vote. This is especially popular with Hussein's fans since he did not campaign in Florida and wasn't even on the ballot in Michigan.

I recommend that they include the outcome as is. Anyone running for President who is stupid enough to think the Demos could totally insult the voters of these two states should lose.

I think it is a perfect example of what many on the Left believe. If it sounds good they just say it, and in their world it becomes true. It is called gilding the lily.
i.e. Algore didn't invent the Internet, but he was a fan of technology and did push funding for its deployment. Hillary thinks of herself as a special heroic person, so she decides she was named after a special heroic person. Hussein did have a struggle, but that struggle isn't heroic enough, so now he thinks of himself as the child of the civil rights struggle rather than the child of two people who loved each other.

My problem with all of this is not that these are just "lies," but lies that indicate that the person feels they are unique and should lead because they are unique. What this means is that they should be treated differently than those they lead. What that means is that they think they are above the herd. And that means they don't have to follow any one's wishes but theirs. And that is dangerous. Damn dangerous for a democracy.

Tuning in to C-Span recently, I found myself listening to a speech by
Senator
Barrack Hussein Obama, Jr. He was standing in the pulpit of a black church
in
Selma, Alabama, and as I studied the body language of the dozen or so black
ministers standing behind the senator, I couldn't help but be reminded of
the
little head-bobbing dolls that people used to place in the rear windows of
their 1957 Chevrolets. If their reactions are any indication, the new
"Schlickmeister" of the Democrat Party is actually a pretty accomplished
public speaker.

However, as he spoke, I found my b.s. alarm going off, repeatedly. But I
couldn't quite figure out why until I actually read excerpts of his speech
several days later. Here's part of what he said:

"...something happened back here in Selma, Alabama. Something happened in
Birmingham that sent out what Bobby Kennedy called, "ripples of hope all
around the world." Something happened when a bunch of women decided they
were
going to walk instead of ride the bus after a long day of doing somebody
else's laundry, looking after somebody else's children.

"When (black) men who had PhD's decided 'that's enough' and 'we're going to
stand up for our dignity,' that sent a shout across oceans so that my
grandfather began to imagine something different for his son. His son, who
grew up herding goats in a small village in Africa could suddenly set his
sights a little higher and believe that maybe a black man in this world had
a
chance.

"So the Kennedy's decided we're going to do an airlift. We're going to go
to
Africa and start bringing young Africans over to this country and give them
scholarships to study so they can learn what a wonderful country America is.


"This young man named Barack Obama got one of those tickets and came over to
this country. He met this woman whose great great-great-great- grandfather
had owned slaves; but she had a good idea there was some craziness going on
because they looked at each other and they decided that we know that, (in)
the world as it has been, it might not be possible for us to get together
and
have a child. There was something stirring across the country because of
what
happened in Selma, Alabama, because some folks are willing to march across a
bridge. So they got together and Barack Obama Jr. Was born. So don't tell me
I don't have a claim on Selma, Alabama. Don't tell me I'm not coming home to
Selma, Alabama."

Okay, so what's wrong with that? It all sounds good. But is it?

Obama told his audience that, because some folks had the courage to "march
across a bridge" in Selma, Alabama, his mother, a white woman from Kansas,
and his father, a black Muslim from Africa, took heart. It gave them the
courage to get married and have a child. The problem with that
characterization is that Barrack Obama, Jr., was born on August 4, 1961,
while the first of three marches across that bridge in Selma didn't occur
until March 7, 1965, at least five years after Obama's parents met.

Obama went on to tell his audience that the Kennedy's, Jack and Bobby,
decided to do an airlift. They would bring some young Africans over so that
they could be educated and learn all about America. His grandfather heard
that call and sent his son, Barrack Obama, Sr., to America.

The problem with that scenario is that, having been born in August 1961, the
future senator was not conceived until sometime in November 1960. So if this
African grandfather heard words that ''sent a shout across oceans,''
inspiring him to send his goat-herder son to America, it was not a Democrat
Jack Kennedy he heard, nor his brother Bobby, it was a Republican President,
Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Obama's speech is reminiscent of Al Gore's claim of having invented the
Internet, Hillary Clinton's claim of having been named after the first man
to
climb Mt. Everest, even though she was born five years and seven months
before Sir Edmund climbed the mountain, and John Kerry's imaginary trip to
Cambodia.

As one of my black friends, Eddie Huff, has said, "We need to ask some very
serious questions of the senator from Illinois. It's not enough to be black,
it's not enough to be articulate, and it's not enough to be eloquent and a
media darling. The only question will be how deaf an ear, or how blind an
eye, will people turn in order to turn a frog into a prince."

NEW HAVEN, Conn.: A former Navy sailor was convicted Wednesday of leaking details about ship movements to suspected terrorism supporters, an act that could have endangered his own crewmates.

Jurors convicted Hassan Abu-Jihaad, 32, of Phoenix of providing material support to terrorists and disclosing classified national defense information on the second day of deliberations.

The facts

….Obama's campaign got caught up in a series of revised statements about what one of his economic advisers said to a Canadian official about NAFTA. Meanwhile, the trial of Chicago developer Tony Rezko, a former Obama supporter, thrust that issue back into the headlines.

Someone asked me why I was cheerleading for Hillary. I suppressed a desire to punch him. I don’t give a flip who wins the Demo nomination, but I do want to make sure the Demos, and the country know who and what they are getting.

The above quote comes from CBS News and I note it for two reasons. The first is to show that Hussein has ties to some very shady people, and that he not only wouldn’t come clean about the discussion between his people and Canada because it shows that the pure dishonestness of his campaign, it also demonstrates that he doesn’t mind violating Federal Law. And yes, I know he didn’t personally do it, but I also remember that Nixon got impeached for what his guys did, and his failure to give them up. No difference between Nixon’s and Hussein’s actions in my mind, except Hussein has done it twice. First In Syria a few weeks ago and now with the Canadians.

This section shall not abridge the right of a citizen to apply himself, or his agent, to any foreign government, or the agents thereof, for redress of any injury which he may have sustained from such government or any of its agents or subjects.

and it is supposed to keep unauthorized people from doing the above. For years and years it wasn’t a very big deal, but leave it to the Demos to break the law big time. First it was Dear Leader Pelosi, and now Hussein twice. And to be fair, Dear Leader Pelosi had a couple of tag a long Repubs.

Perhaps someone should also advise the Canadians that what they are doing is often called “aiding and abetting” in an unlawful act and that they should restrain themselves… Particularly when GITMO is starting to have spare cells…

Now, it isn’t that I am for NAFTA, I’m not. Any dunderhead, even Bubba and Pope Algore knew that the end result of NAFTA would be a big time loss of manufacturing jobs. The Little Admiral wasn’t always right, but he knew a giant sucking sound when he heard it, and what was being sucked. Perhaps that is what Bubba aka Monica’s Boyfriend thought was going on. Perhaps he was confused. As the old C&W song said..

It is not that I think manufacturing can make a comeback in the US. A few years back I was involved with a start up in which we tried every way possible to manufacture in the US. It just couldn’t be done.

But what we could do, say in the case of Mexico would be demand a 25% discount in oil prices, the Mexican Army to keep their cultural sojourner wannabees south of the border and to clean up a small fraction of the corruption that is there.

Instead the politicians claim to be able to bring back jobs while, in Hussein’s case violate federal law and lie to the electorate.
