The Religion of Peace

1122AM CST – They did it again.

A representative of the Religion of Peace, aka Islam, blew himself up today and killed a few dozen or so Russians.
You know, every time I turn around this is happening or just been prevented from happening.

I think it is time to say, “Hey you moderate Muslims! Hellooooooo! What will it take for you to figure out YOU have a problem that is OUR problem.
Now, should WE fix YOUR problem? No. YOU should fix YOUR problem. Besides. YOU won’t like how WE fix YOUR problem.

Sorry for the yelling, but I mean, really. You know what’s going on.

1414 CST - Jimmy M sent me this.

1634 CST - Huh??

Some Repubs and Demos are gonna set together while Obamie opines and truies to blow smoke our collective asses tomorrow night.

Hey Repub dudes! If I wanted you to get along with the Demos I would have voted for the Demo!

More later!

Point Spreads – Jets Pittsburg and Bears Packers. - UPDATE

1930 CST - Did I do right?

There were 9 players left at the final table of the tournament. The chip count was around $1,000,000.

The chip leader was around $300,000. Second was around $150,000. The short stack, who was to my left in 4 position had around $25,000. I had about $100,000. The remaining $425,000 was split about evenly among the other 5 players.

Blinds were at $6,000/$3000 with $1,000 antes so I had about 10-12 blinds left.

The short stack went all in with his $25,000 and 5,6,7 position folded to the No 2 chip leader who was a very aggressive player who had hit a hot streak and had made a comeback from about $20,000 to the $150,000. He called and raised $15,000. The chip leader folded and I looked down to see an Ace of Hearts and Queen of Hearts.

The pot was now around $79,000.

The All In player was a fairly loose player who had made it to the final table by catching some cards. He would play any suited ace and or A 10 and above or pair. The raiser was an aggressive player who would steal if he could.

I gave it a long thought. The All In could have anything. I decided that the raiser had a decent hand and had raised to get everyone else out so he could get heads up against the All In player.

If I could get the raiser out I had a good shot at beating the All In player for $65,000 pot, close to doubling up and getting close to second place in chips. Besides. I could very likely have the best hand.

So I went all in. The raiser thought for a bit and then called. The All In player showed JJ, the raiser showed KK.

I caught a Q on the flop but nothing else and wished everyone good night and cashed out seventh place money. A nice bit but not what I wanted.
Did I do right? I dunno.

I wasn’t really short stacked but close and the money fairly evenly divided between the rest of us. One or more of us was probably gonna double up and that would triple the pressure. I made my decision to try and try to move up on what I knew of the players and gave it a go. It didn’t work.

It ain’t life or death, just money but I still wonder. Did I do right??

8:32AM CST - Last fall I posted “Football truths.”

I thought it to be funny. Others disagreed. The disagreement seemed to be directly connected to the school they supported.
Fancy that. Self interest strikes again.
Anyway, overnight and the post took a ton of hits. It dawns on me that the NFL playoff games are today and anything that promises information is of intense interest.
So I have titled this post “Point Spreads – Jets Pittsburg and Bears Packers.” Let’s see what happens.
I never bet pro sports. Playing poker is my game and one bad habit at a time is all I can stand. (Okay, okay. I have bet drinks, bragging rights and dinners on my beloved UT with friends. But that stopped three years ago.)

8:32AM CST – A minor rant.

I hate it when the very small Right Wing media keep talking about how Obamie is moving to the center while his minions in the FCC is moving to take control of the Internet and his EPA is shutting down coal mines and instituting new “clean air” regulations because of the man made global warming hoax.
Stupid is as stupid does, eh children?

10:54AM CST - What career path should our children pursue??

Anything that relates to REMOVING tattoos should give solid employment in about 10 years.

10:58AM CST - Best musical gadget for geezers.

An AUX input on the car's radio for your MPEG player. I have about 500 songs I like loaded up and I play them and blissfully ignore everything else on the magic machine as I drive down the road. That excludes The Big Guy, of course. (Actually it does, but my Leftie readers will never believe me.)

Keith Olbermann fired???

January 22, 2011 – Saturday Saturday

8:10AM CST – Snow and snow
My Mother-In-Law said that when snow lays around for more than three days it is waiting for more.
Makes sense. If it is too cold for it to melt so the next front that comes through will have enough moisture to drop some more snow.

8:11 CST – Death of a friend

Yesterday I wrote that a friend was dying. He is now gone and will be missed by his family and friends. Some of us will get together either by phone or in person and remember the good times and the bad times that we shared together. We all came through and now he has left us but we aren’t far behind.

9:45: CST – Dark Avenger has come back,
perhaps because he now understands that I know that he and Harry Saxon are one and the same. He has sent two missives, neither of which will be published.
But the gist of one is that the Tea Party is only as popular now as it was last summer and this is before they got “blood libeled.” 52% is the number. You know, given the hatred poured out by the Lefties and the Lame Stream Media 52% is a wonderful number.

10:00 CST – Keith Olbermann has been fired.
And don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!

Rock and roll is what???

January 21, 2011 – Bits and pieces

8:14 CST – Bad news

An old friend is dying. Somehow that doesn’t make sense. He was always large size, active and engaging. Some will try to seek and give solace by saying that he lived a long and happy life. And that is true. I’m sure he feels that he accomplished more with less than many who started with more, and he did.
But the truth is this.
The world will be a worse place when he is gone.
I fear our youngsters will grow old and have no friends, just people they text messages to because they don’t want to have to actually say something without first writing it down and then thinking about it.
I read one time that lead in the joints of the water pipes of ancient Rome is thought to have leeched into the water and drove many people insane leading to the eventual downfall. If true that shows that not all technical advances are good.

My take on the Internet varies from day to day.

8:29 CST – Weather report: 17F and clearing

Southerners do not cope well with snow and ice. This morning we have all of two inches and I face it with a sense of outrage. If I had wanted to have snow I would have stayed in Denver where they had lots of it and people knew how to deal with it.
But it was pretty last night. The security lights created a pool of light that approached daylight and nothing stirred. The birds had fed all afternoon from the feeder off the deck and the squirrels had ran back and forth looking for that especially sweet acorn they had hid last fall.
Time for some beef stew and corn bread for dinner. Maybe some of that frozen okra from the garden as a side with sliced onions and slaw.

9:50 CST – Civility as a lifestyle

I am suffering from boredom regarding politics. The latest buzz word is “civility.” To hell with that. The Left lost the last election and I see no reason to pay them very much attention, especially when they start lying about “hate speech” and sundry items.
In the meantime they write such intelligent comments as this one:

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Where's a Special Prosecutor when we need one?":
“You're as stupid as that asshole Lesabre from the Jackson Sun forums.

This is the comment he/she was responding to:

Where is a special prosecutor when we need one

Truth does hurt.

Speaking of hate speech from the Left, and the Sun’s forum, here’s an example. Note that the comment was on 1/6/11, two days before the Tucson killings.

One of the other commentators, CharlesLeeSmith by moniker, was asked if he would condemn the comment by smileyface. This was after the killings in Tucson and you would think that people would be more sensitive. But not CharlesLeeSmith:

Charles posted at 1/10/2011 5:24 PM CST :
Of course I condemn it....that let's you off way too easy.

Link

Let me see. I am an asshole who should play Russian Roulette but that isn't bad enough.....

Ain't love great?

If it had been The Big Guy kidney failure would have been the wishful curse…. Wait. That’s already been done.
Charles and others deny that this was a threat. For years I couldn’t understand that but I think I have finally figured it out. Hatred of the Right is all they have and they are so fearful of losing that the hate-fear-hate thing just feeds on itself. As an Internet bud, dherring wrote:

"One speaker on the National Review cruise said that we live our lives among the left and understand them. They, on the other hand, live among their own kind and have little association for the right so they form caricatures of the right."

10:12 – Recall the Pima County Sherriff??

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik has never lost an election, but that was before his remarks assigning blame for the deadly Tucson, Ariz., shooting to political "vitriol" and calling Arizona "a mecca for prejudice and bigotry."
Now it's Sheriff Dupnik who finds himself on the public-opinion hot seat. A group opposed to illegal immigration has begun an effort to recall the sheriff in a special election. Meanwhile, a Pima County tea party group is planning on holding a "Dump Dupnik" rally next week outside his office.
"I haven't been a fan of Dupnik's for a long time, but this really was the straw that broke the camel's back," said Tom Rompel, co-owner of Black Weapons Armory in Tucson. "He's law enforcement. We expect 'the facts, ma'am,' not his opinion. He leans far left, always has, and frankly, people have had enough."

Link

One can hope that this man will be retired because of his untoward words towards millions of Americans. Not to mention his sorry job of running the department.

Seance on a cold January day - Update 1

January 20, 2011

08:57 CST – The greedy meets the stupid!
Just heard on Fox News that the NFL will let you stand outside the Dallas Cowboy’s stadium during the Super Bowl for $200.00
Guess you folks in Fort Worth can stay home for only $1.00.
There appears to be no limit to the NFL’s greed and the stupidity of some football fans.

09:49 CST – Wonder if he checked luggage??
The parents of the 16 year old who climbed into the nose wheel of a commercial jet and stowed away for a free ride and who was then killed are now suing the airline.
For thousands of years children were expected to provide financial security for the parents during their old age.
Nothing really changes.

10:29 CST – We don’t manufacture anything anymore

It appears that a museum owned by the people of the United States, celebrating the history of the United States, cannot find companies in this country employing American workers that are able to manufacture statues of our founding fathers, or our current president,” Sen. Bernie Sanders, an independent from Vermont who caucuses with Democrats, said in a letter to the museum.

Link

I understand Kenya can help us out with one of Hussein.

BTW – Sanders is a socialist. Leave it to ABC to get such things wrong.

12:15 CST – Shopping advice for the faint hearted
Never go to Walmart when snow and ice is predicted. Never. Never.

12:58 CST – Crooks and dictators and can you tell the difference?
Picked this up from The Big Guy, maybe you missed it.
We just gave a State Dinner where Presidents, Jimmy and Hussein Obamie, both winners of Nobel Peace prizes….. honored the Premier of China… who has the latest Nobel Peace Prize winner locked up in prison….
Am I the only one who sees something wrong with that?

Want a hint?

1652 CST – Birthers and Governors
This one won’t go away.
Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie suggested in an interview published today that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health.
Abercrombie told the Honolulu Star Advertiser he was searching within the Hawaii Department of Health to find definitive vital records that would prove Obama was born in Hawaii, because the continuing eligibility controversy could hurt the president's chances of re-election in 2012.
So far, the only birth document available on Obama is a Hawaii Certification of Live Birth that first appeared on the Internet during the 2008 presidential campaign. It was posted by two purportedly independent websites that have displayed a strong partisan bias for Obama – Snopes.com released the COLB in June 2008, and FactCheck.org published photographs of the document in August 2008.
WND previously reported the Hawaii Department of Health has refused to authenticate the COLB posted on the Internet by Snopes.com and FactCheck.org.
WND has reported that in 1961, Obama's grandparents, Stanley and Madelyn Dunham, could have made an in-person report of a Hawaii birth even if the infant Barack Obama Jr. had been foreign-born.
Similarly, the newspaper announcements of Obama's birth do not prove he was born in Hawaii, since they could have been triggered by the grandparents registering the birth as Hawaiian, even if the baby was born elsewhere.
Moreover, WND has documented that the address reported in the newspaper birth announcements was the home of the grandparents.

Update at 1848 - Jimmy M sent me this:

I met a fairy today that would grant me one wish.

"I want to live forever," I said.

"Sorry," said the fairy, "I'm not allowed to grant wishes like that!"

"Fine," I said, "I want to die after the Democrats get their heads out of their asses!"

"You crafty bastard," said the fairy.

What did this buy?

Saudi Arabia's king was the most generous gift-giver, according to documents released by the State Department on Tuesday.

Saudi King Abdullah gave Obama, his wife and daughters nearly $190,000 in luxury baubles in 2009, including the single most valuable gift reported to have been given to U.S. officials that year: a ruby and diamond jewelry set, including earrings, a ring, a bracelet and necklace, for the first lady worth $132,000

But don't be looking for the first lady to be wearing the dazzling gems anytime soon. By law, most gifts to U.S. officials must be turned over to the government and the jewelry has already been sent to the National Archives.

MSNBC

A bribe? No. But with oil prices heading above $100 and the economy ready to tumble one of the few cards the President can play is using his influence to get OPEC to increase production.

By accepting these gifts the President is signaling to the SA king that what the king is doing is okay.

What Obama should have done, and it is not too late, is to return them while explaining that since the price of oil is too high and so destructive to the average American that he cannot accept them.

Don't hold your breath.

Plastic or paper?

Got this from an old bud over the 'net.

The world is just getting too complex for me.. They even mess me up every time I go to the grocery store. You would think they could settle on something themselves but this sudden "Paper or Plastic?" every time I check out just knocks me for a loop. I bought some of those cloth reusable bags to avoid looking confused, but I never remember to take them in with me.

Now I toss it back to them. When they ask me, "Paper or Plastic?" I just say, "Doesn't matter to me. I am bi-sacksual." Then it's their turn to stare at me with a blank look. I was recently asked if I tweet. I answered, No, but I do toot a lot."

Kinda explains a lot.

Hat tip to Bill T!
