Wish I had said that:
"If it weren't for that put-on British accent, Christiane Amanpour would be reporting on pest control in Bolivia, and that's an insult to the Bolivians. She proves that ignorance, bigotry, and an inability to distinguish truth from fiction are no barriers to success in journalism."
The above comes from William Katz at UrgentAgenda. If you don't read him daily you are missing a real treat. Of course he has an advanatge... talent.
Do you ever wonder where people like Amanpour come from? Is there some "worm hole" that connects to an alternate universe where the US is evil with no value?? My love of science fiction aside, I doubt it.
But a few minutes ago I heard Senator Thune explain that last summer Congress authorized ACRON, you know, the people who registering every person in sight, to receive 4.5% of funds provided by Congress. Now the bailout bill supposedly shut ACRON off, but since there is a conflict here it is up to the "Director" whether or not they get the money... Well duhhhh.... do we really have to guess what that means?
Now let me see, 4.5% of $700,000,000,000.00 is $31,500,000,000.00 and that's enough to have a revolution with.
Maybe that "worm hole" does exist.....
Update.
I gave Senator Corker's office a call and had a chat with a nice young man who noted that the bill was introduced last February and that the Senator was only 1 of about 12 that voted against it. It was passed in July.
And that the money isn't exclusively ACRON, but to the various Non Profits... some of which are supposed to help people fight eviction from their homes...
Okay, the outrage has gone from get the pitchforks and torches level to just get the pitchforks...
I asked the young man two questions.
First, why didn't the Senator filibuster the bill from the floor of the Senate. He explained that the Democrats had enough Republican votes to pass it so it would have been useless. True, but it would at least have, just maybe, gotten enough exposure that the public would have raised enough hell that the needed 60 votes would have washed away.
Secondly, why did the Senator call a press conference, issue a press release, etc. and whatever, condemning the bill??
Look, my dear Repub chums, and Demos too, the cable news networks gobble content like crazy. Call them. Tell them you want to make a statement. At least that is doing something.

Paulson and Bernake... take the rest of the week off

Guys, can we talk?
I know you mean well, but look...
Yesterday AM the market was having a nice little bounce, somewhere around up 200 when Bernake made his speech.... It went into a tail spin and lost around what... 300? 500??
Today the market was having a nice little bounce when Paulson made his speech... It went to a tail spin and lost around 200...
So look, just take the rest of the week off. I can't afford any moreof your jaw boning... I am tired of feeding the bears!
Obama, Bill Morris and the G20
I am not a great fan of Dick Morris. He came too late to the side of the angels and I don't think he is as smart as he thinks he is. Two traits that any true southerner would be put off by.
But he does make some astute observations from time.
This summarizes Hussein's associations and why.
Hussein scares me not because of his associations, but that he does appear to be guided hy Alinksy, which explains why he didn't run away screaming. My real problem is this. He is a practical radical. Remember that Marx and Lenin may have set the stage, but it was the practical Stalin who closed the deal..... killing millions along the way..
And no, I don't think Hussein will do that, but as he tries to tie the US economy directly to the G20 the end result will be drastically lowered wages and benefits for the working class. The very people who are now so enamored of him.
Remember dear chums. If we can pass a law giving 700 billion dollars to save the banks and the economy, something appearing less likely every day, we can nationalize the oil industry... the car industry......
But he does make some astute observations from time.
This summarizes Hussein's associations and why.
Even apart from the details of the Obama/Ayers connection, two key points emerge:
a) Obama lied and misled the American people in his description of his relationship with Ayers as casual and arm’s-length; and
b) Obama was consciously guided by Ayers’s radical philosophy, rooted in the teachings of leftist Saul Alinksy, in his distribution of CAC grant funds.
Since Obama is asking us to let him direct education spending by the federal government and wants us to trust his veracity, these are difficulties he will have to explain in order to get the votes to win.
Now that Obama is comfortably ahead in the polls, attention will understandably shift to him. We will want to know what kind of president he would make. The fact that, within the past 10 years, he participated in a radical program of political education conceptualized by an admitted radical terrorist offers no reassurance.
Why did Obama put up with Ayers? Because he got a big job and $50 million of patronage to distribute to his friends and supporters in Chicago. Why did he hang out with Jeremiah Wright? Because he was new in town, having grown up in Hawaii and Indonesia and having been educated at Columbia and Harvard, and needed all the local introductions he could get to jump-start his political career. Why was he so close to Rezko?
Because he funded Obama’s campaigns and helped him buy a house for $300,000 less than he otherwise would have had to pay.
Not a good recommendation for a president.

Tom Brokaw destroys Town Hall debate
Debate? Was there a debate tonight??
This was supposed to a Town Hall affair. But now we find out that the qustions were submitted and then selected by Tom "I am biggger than the election" Brokaw.
Tom seemed especially interested in not letting the candidates talk.
Instead he asked the same questions that are asked by him and his peers. And as anyone could expect, we got the same answers. Nothing new was asked, nothing new was learned except Hussein did finally, in an off hand way, admitted that he said he would meet with the leader of Iran without pre-condition.
Disgusting.

Barney Franks, Herb Moses, Bill Clinton, Fannie Mae and Oil Prices

Also known as how the Democrats set the building on fire and then shot the firemen.
By STEVEN A. HOLMES (New York Times)
Published: September 30, 1999
In a move that could help increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on loans that it will purchase from banks and other lenders.
The action, which will begin as a pilot program involving 24 banks in 15 markets -- including the New York metropolitan region -- will encourage those banks to extend home mortgages to individuals whose credit is generally not good enough to qualify for conventional loans. Fannie Mae officials say they hope to make it a nationwide program by next spring.
Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits.
When I read that Clinton was proclaiming that he had tried to increase oversight of Fannie and Freddie but was unable to because of the Democrats I knew that he was getting out in front on the issue to avoid any personal blame.
The above shows you why. It proves that the disease turned terminal and started to spread in late summer 1999 driven by the Democrats. That would be Barney Franks and all the poverty pimps and community organizers.
''Fannie Mae has expanded home ownership for millions of families in the 1990's by reducing down payment requirements,'' said Franklin D. Raines, Fannie Mae's chairman and chief executive officer. ''Yet there remain too many borrowers whose credit is just a notch below what our underwriting has required who have been relegated to paying significantly higher mortgage rates in the so-called subprime market.''
Demographic information on these borrowers is sketchy. But at least one study indicates that 18 percent of the loans in the subprime market went to black borrowers, compared to 5 per cent of loans in the conventional loan market.
In moving, even tentatively, into this new area of lending, Fannie Mae is taking on significantly more risk, which may not pose any difficulties during flush economic times. But the government-subsidized corporation may run into trouble in an economic downturn, prompting a government rescue similar to that of the savings and loan industry in the 1980's
Now remember. That was September 1999. Re-read that paragraph directly above. It looks like everyone knew what could happen. Then read the following.
''From the perspective of many people, including me, this is another thrift industry growing up around us,'' said Peter Wallison a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. ''If they fail, the government will have to step up and bail them out the way it stepped up and bailed out the thrift industry.''
Link to New York Times.
Of course in doing this the market has lost around 2000 points in the past 7 market days and we are teetering on the brink of disaster.
So we know what started it, but what was the trip wire that has caused the collapse?
Go back to last April. For the previous six months or so the Fed had been dumping money into the markets to keep them liquid and to stem the foreclosures. And it was working. Things didn't look good, but things looked under control.
Oil prices started the year at around $93.00 and had increased a little bit over $5.00 to $98 at the beginning of April, then $12.00 in April to end at $110 and by the middle of July oil was at $146 and gasoline as $4.00 a gallon.
OPEC oil prices.
Along with increased energy prices, everything that it effects jumped in price. The people who could barely hang on started defaulting and the spiral started.
The dagger that was thrust into America's financial heart is oil pricing.
And there is no doubt that it is Democrats who, by opposing drilling in America supported the speculators belief that shortages would occur and that they could safely bid the price up. And dear hearts, they did.
If you want to know who should be tried for high crimes and misdemeanors, start with Nancy Pelosi, Barney Franks, Harry Reid and Chris Dodd. You may find that I don't mention Hussein. As a Leftie he shares blame with them all, but he gets only 20 years where the other get life with out patrol.
Bush? Bush has proven only that he has been inept and too slow to act. History will judge him harshly. Not for the Iraqi war he has won, but for the financial war he has lost.
The one and only thing that will save us from a Depression of 1929 magnitude is for the Congress to declare a national emergency and direct the oil companies to take all necessary actions to drill and bring oil on line. Just the policy and national commitment should drop oil to $50.00 in 4 to 6 weeks.
Frankly, I don't see much of a chance of happening with a McCain administration.
It damn sure won't happen if Hussien is elected.
Hang on chums, it's going to get much rougher.
Frightening video of Obama supporter brainwashing school children

Click here for video. Was this video shot in a St Louis school or in a school somhwere in the Middle East?
This video shows what is going on among Hussein supporters. It truly reminds me of school shots in the Middle East. Same robot like responses. Video made by a member of the school.
Chums, this teacher has been suspended. The Lefties will be all in a dither. I am sure a fleet of ACLU jets are on their way to attack the school.
I hope McCain brings this video up tonight and demands Hussein disavow it.
