Who are we?

I know that I am not as smart as the talking heads on TV or the mealy mouth elected representatives who whine and opine whenever a camera is within ten miles.

But I am growing curious. Curious as to why we are any better than any Central or South American country that has government overthrows as regularly as the flow of the tides and the phases of the Moon.

I mean we are continually told that Impeachment of the President is not a legal thing. That Impeachment is a “political” thing. That the Founders did not mean legal things when they wrote:

“SECTION. 4.
The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

If it be true that Impeachment does not require a violation of law, then it follows that anytime the majority party in the House of Representative so desires it can vote to remove the President for no violation other than they dislike him or her.

That the Senate, with august members who love to talk but not act, may or may not convict is of no importance. The damage is done just as damage is done when a revolution fails in those countries we scorn because they are not democracies or republics.

Then what are we? We are hypocrites. Pure flat and simple. Own it.
