The week after the Benghazzi attacks by Muslim terrorists and while Obama was still claiming they were caused the Intenet movie our the paper ran a letter in which a Muslim made the usual attempt to blame everyone but the Muslims... I wrote the following and it was published. Needless to say, no one responded.
"I grow weary of reading statements like this:
“We advise our Muslim brethren to remain calm, patient and forgive this senseless act of these provocateurs, just as our Prophet Muhammad would have done. We also urge both fellow Muslims and Americans to work together for a more peaceful world and to take this opportunity to redouble efforts toward peace and harmony through increased outreach, dialogue and understanding.”
First, it is obvious that the attacks were planned. The movie was just a convenient excuse. And thousands of people do not just show up and riot.
Secondly it is not the Muslim brethren’s right to forgive. The movie, as tasteless as it is, was made by people who had every right to make it. The thought that we must be forgiven for exercising our Constitutional rights by Muslims or else they will riot and kill is repulsive.
Finally, I grow weary hearing this same plea after every riot and attack on Americans. I quote, “We also urge both fellow Muslims and Americans to work together for a more peaceful world…”
It is not Americans who have rioted and killed. It is Muslims. And it is a Muslim problem. And it is up to the so called Muslim moderates to solve the problem and bring the rioters and terrorists under control.
It is time for Muslims to cease speaking of peace and to take actions to actually bring peace.
I wish I believed that will happen. But I have no reason to believe that it will."
Peace and goodwill. Precious little in today's world.
"Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them." - Karl Popper “It’s the presumption that Obama knows how all these industries ought to be operating better than people who have spent their lives in those industries, and a general cockiness going back to before he was president, and the fact that he has no experience whatever in managing anything. Only someone who has never had the responsibility for managing anything could believe he could manage just about everything.” - Thomas Sowell in Reason Magazine
