Lougher and the Sheriff

I was curious when the AZ sheriff went on his rant. Why I wondered was he so eager to condemn others outside of his world. Why wasn't he more focused?

Well, now we know. Simply put, the Sheriff's department didn't do their job. He was no stranger to them just as the Columbine killers were not strangers to the CO sheriff department.

And now he wants a smoke screen to hide that fact. That's what the rant was about.

And know what? I can't condemn him and the men and women in the department. He is probably running a department that is starved for funds and trying to cover a huge area with not enough people.

And now his tail is in a crack that  if he didn't make it, it was to a large degree not totally his fault.

Jared Loughner has been making death threats by phone to many people in Pima County including staff of Pima Community College, radio personalities and local bloggers. When Pima County Sheriff’s Office was informed, his deputies assured the victims that he was being well managed by the mental health system. It was also suggested that further pressing of charges would be unnecessary and probably cause more problems than it solved as Jared Loughner has a family member that works for Pima County.

Every victim of his threats previously must also be wondering if this tragedy could have been prevented if they had been more aggressive in pursuing charges against Mr. Loughner. Perhaps with a felony conviction he would never have been able to lawfully by the Glock 9mm Model 19 that he used to strike down the lives of six people and decimate 14 more.

So forget the calls for new laws. Giggle when the Lefties get in high dungeon over "hate speech." Spit when the Lame Stream Media and the politicians they serve try and destroy the Second Amendment with new laws to tell us what we can and can't say.

Instead, support your local law enforcement people. Tell them to enforce the laws on the books. Make sure they have enough funds. They are the closet people to the potential criminals and the potential victims. And if given a fair chance they are the ones who will prevent such things as this.

If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them." - Karl Popper

"Logic. There is little logic among the cultural elite, maybe because there is little omnipresent fear of job losses or the absence of money, and so arises a rather comfortable margin to indulge in nonsense." - Victor Davis Hanson

  1. If he was under the care of mental health providers, wouldn't that stop him from being able to guy a gun legally?

  2. Best I can tell he wasn't under care. The reason appears to be that the sherrif's office kept making excuses for him.
