Principal has students recite pledge of allegiance to Mexican flag

The principal of an elementary school instructed his students to stand during the recitation of a pledge to the Mexican flag during a diversity assembly recently, and he's been trying to backtrack ever since.

"We absolutely refuse to stand up and pledge allegiance to another country's flag," a mother whose daughter attends the school told talk show host Chris Baker on AM 740 KTRH radio. "Where is the sensitivity to the country and to the troops and the men and women that have fought and died for this country?"

The mother, identified only as Amy, said school officials gave all the children Mexican flags to wave and then asked everyone to stand up and pledge allegiance to the Mexican flag.

"Get out!" Baker shouted. "What school is that?"

It was Velasco Elementary in Clute, Texas, where Sam Williams is principal

In a report in The Facts, Williams said the response to his action was "overwhelming."

"It's been a real trying ordeal and all I can say is I deeply apologize if anyone was offended by it – and I can see that they are," the principal said

He said the situation should have been done differently. "There's no way that we would repeat it," he told the news group.

The above happened in September 2006. From the information in the following link, it appears that Sam Williams has left or was invited to leave. I was unable to determine which. Ms Laura Morris is now Principal.

You know, I have a certain amount of sympathy for Sam Williams. He fell into the trap of bowing to political correctness and was hurt. But he did it himself and I hope that he has a long and successful life away from educating our children.

Hopefully other teachers learned a lesson from this but I doubt that they did. What we should take from this is that we can take our schools and our country back.

  1. OTOH, we have this teacher in the heart of Dixie teaching traditional American values to his charges:

The Birmingham News reported that a math teacher at Corner High School in Warrior, Alabama was interrogated by the Secret Service after he used shooting the President in trying to teach students about angles. The teacher was not identified or charged with a crime, but this incident continues the cultural trend toward escalating insignificant incidents into big news.

Joseph Brown, a senior in the geometry class recounted the incident saying,

“He was talking about angles and said, 'If you're in this building, you would need to take this angle to shoot the president.'"

The teacher could not be reached for comment, but superintendent Phil Hammonds said he would not be fired. Hammonds said,

"We are going to have a long conversation with him about what's appropriate. It was extremely poor judgment on his part, and a poor choice of words."

  2. Quit trying for equivalency here.
In the flag case no one said boo until it hit a local talk radio.
In the angle case we have the Secret Service involved.
I trust you can see the difference.
You can’t? Well that is no surprise.

  3. Yes, you're talking about an incident that happened 4 years ago, and it seems that unlike the principal you cited, this teacher will still have their job after having a visit from the Secret Service.

    Catch a clue sometime, willya?

  4. So a wrong happened 4 years ago and we just forget about? That is pure BS.

The guy demonstrated he had no common sense and is now gone. I don't know if he was fired or quit and neither do you. But I am happy he is no longer foisting BS PC on children.

That's my clue to you. And no charge for YOUR education.

  5. Good, because your version of what you call education is worthless.
