Heck, no one would believe if they just read:
(Toks) Omishakin’s new position as Director of Healthy Living is an expansion of his current responsibilities. Since January 2009, Omishakin has worked as the staff member for the Mayor’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC), which was created to provide policy direction on making Nashville more bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly.
However, when I add this there is no longer any doubt.
Mayor Karl Dean announced today that he has created a new position in his office to oversee the implementation of Nashville’s healthy living initiatives.
The position is being funded through a stimulus grant awarded to Metro Government by the U.S. Health and Human Services Department (HHS) as part of the Communities Putting Prevention to Work program. In a highly-competitive process, HHS awarded more than $370 million to 44 communities across the country to support public health efforts to reduce chronic disease. Nashville was the only city in Tennessee to be awarded one of the grants and will receive $7.5 million over two years.
Ain't you glad we have Obamie giving Hiz Honor our money so he can waste it giving Toks a job?
