What did Gates know and when did he know it?

During the Senate Armed Services hearing today, Defense Secretary Robert Gates was pressed by Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. on whether the July 2011 date for beginning to withdrawal troops is "locked in."

Gates seemed to suggest there was some flexibility, that "it was a clear statement of his strong intent" and that "the president always has the freedom to re-evaluate his decisions." After the hearing Graham said he took that to mean the date is "not locked in" and will depend on conditions on the ground

I knew when I heard those craw fishing words that Gates was trying not to answer.

I seem to be smarter and have more of a backbone than Senator Graham who swallowed the BS hook, line and sinker.

It was a point of contention at the White House briefing today – I asked White House spokesman Robert Gibbs if senators were incorrect calling the date a "target."

After the briefing, Gibbs went to the president for clarification. Gibbs then called me to his office to relate what the president said. The president told him it IS locked in – there is no flexibility. Troops WILL start coming home in July 2011. Period. It's etched in stone. Gibbs said he even had the chisel.

It is called "a date certain." And if Gates cared he would have resigned as soon as he understood what Obama The Bower is doing.

  1. How else could our terrorist-loving, communist, America-hating 'commander-in-chief' insure the defeat of the U.S. without sending our military plans to his terrorist buddies, while fooling his voter base of complete idiot liberals into 'thinking' he has the best interest of America in mind? Some say he's just stupid, but we would be much better off if that was the case. In reality, his agenda is and has always been to destroy this country and he won't be satisfied until he has accomplished it.

  2. Fear not occupation supporters...we ain't leaving on the "date certain"...the "date certain" is the lie here. A lie to keep the occupation detractors from fully abandoning Obama's ship. We ain't leaving in 18 months.

  3. kdog, you may be right but the problem is that the "date certain" discourages the average Afghan because it doessn't show we will stay and it encourages the radical Mulims.

Obamie the Bower should have just kept his mouth shut.

BTW - Cx back later.. I'm doing a post on a poker bad beat you might find amusing.
