A canary was used for hundreds of years as a early warning detector of grave danger from poison gas in mines. I use it to signify a similar situation in the political world.
Nelson secured full federal funding for his state to expand Medicaid coverage to all individuals below 133 percent of the federal poverty level. Other states must pay a small portion of the additional cost. He won concessions for qualifying nonprofit insurers and for Medigap providers from a new insurance tax, and was able to roll back cuts to health savings accounts.
This far beyond the $300 million pork given to Louisiana for New Orleans and the graft that will come with that. This telling the other 49 states that they are not equal to Nebraska. The citizens of Nebraska are better than us. They don't have to pay and their businesses don't have to pay.
This has got to be unconstitutional. The last time we tried treating one state differently than other states.... some Free and some Slave...we wound up in a Civil War.
