Military humor by its very nature is black humor that often laughs at their foibles and problems. In my day it was hunting "sea bats" and looking for the "golden spike."
Grant M has sent me quite a few pictures of more modern examples. Here's a few. I'll pass more along later. I hope the guy made it to Flordia.
