Honor Killings

I didn't see this on TV. I also didn't read it in the NYT, LAT, Chicago Trib or any of the large, or small, regional papers in the US. I picked it up from William Katz's Urgent Agenda and followed it over to the British "Guardian."

I didn't see any protests from NOW, and I haven't seen a press release from CAIR condemning the act. No Senator has thundered from the floor of the Senate. Nancy Pelosi, so proud to be the first female Speaker of the House can't decry such brutal acts. No Ivy League college's President has demanded justice and Hussein, Hillary and McCain are as silent as the grave that

(she was)then tossed into..... without ceremony as her uncles spat on it in disgust.

We have Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, but no Mothers Against Damanable Dads. There must be a thousand groups condemning smoking, saturated fats and demanding ethical treatment of animals.

Yet we have no one speaking out against Honor Killings.

We have routine and casual condemnation of Bush for his evil ways, but no Gollywood Swellhead can manage to cry out against Honor Killings.

Instead we are cautioned to not judge. To understand other cultures. To celebrate the differences, to enjoy diversity.

But some things are just wrong. Killing six million Jews was wrong. Planning and killing others in the name of religion is wrong. Fathers killing daughters because they have spoken to a man is wrong. Keeping females from being educated is wrong.

Yet our media is silent and our politicians are hypocritical. And in the meantime, no one mentions this interview with Osama Bin Ladin by Peter Arnett, then of CNN in March 1997.

REPORTER: Mr. Bin Ladin, will the end of the United States' presence in Saudi Arabia, their withdrawal, will that end your call for jihad against the United States and against the US ?

BIN LADIN:.... So, the driving-away jihad against the US does not stop with its withdrawal from the Arabian peninsula, but rather it must desist from aggressive intervention against Muslims in the whole world.

Read the above and remember the young girl rotting in a grave filled by her corpse, killed by her father. Read and understand what is meant when bin Ladin says:

it must desist from aggressive intervention against Muslims in the whole world.

Note that the date was over eleven years ago. Read your newspapers carefully and see the demands for Shari law and special treatment of Muslim students and employees.
