Starvation? Global warming has failed us again.

It is very chilly today and I am in fear that my tomatoes and bell peppers will be killed if the 28 degree forecast for tomorrow night comes to pass. That is a grumpy thing to me, but in many places in the world a late frost can kill or damage a crop to the extent that starvation is the result. In the US that won't happen, but the cost of replanting plus being late for the peak market window can bankrupt farmers.

The issue is, of course, when to plant. For two years in a row I have waited two plus weeks after the historical "last frost" date. Last year was total disaster and this year I'm flirting with disaster. I am sure Weeder Gander, or some minion of Pope Algore, will be along to tell me about averages, etc. Of course that doesn't do a tinker's damn for my garden, pocketbook and table.

In other news related to the consequences of actions caused by the environmental wackos, boosted by the Left and hustled by both Demos and Repubs, we find that energy shortages and the associated price increases for food has caused this: Haiti's government fell on Saturday when senators fired the prime minister after more than a week of riots over food prices.

And it isn't just rice, it's also corn, and it isn't just this year. From 3/07. This week's story that no one read and everyone should have is about tortilla riots in Mexico. Yes, tortilla riots. In Mexico. Some 75,000 people protesting the rising price of tortillas.

The problem was, and is, that much of the corn crop has been diverted to ethanol. Again we come back to the energy shortage, and the false claim that global warming must be fought with cleaner fuels.

The Law of Unintended Consequences is always ready to pounce, but when you put idiots in charge they run wild.

Yes, that is correct. The false claims of Global Warming are causing people to riot and go hungry.

Yes, that is correct. The environmental wackos prevention of us building nuclear power plants, destroying dams that produced electricity, drilling for new petroleum sources, use coal for electricity generation..... yes..... that is causing people to riot and go hungry.

How proud they must be.

The problem is simple. No one has been establishing priorities. The medical world calls it "triage" and it's taught from day one. Stop what is going to kill the person the quickest, first. In other words, if an artery is spurting blood, don't worry about a broken bone.

Instead of worrying about running low on oil and trying to assure a supply of oil and other energy sources, we have dashed about fixing pollution.

Pollution is bad. No energy is much, much, much worse.

The barbarians are at the gate and the Ludites have let them in.

Later, chums. I need to see what I can do to shelter my food.
