Volume 1 No. 1

Welcome to Tall Cotton, and if you are not familiar with the term, it means that you are doing well, and I hope you are. If you are not, then get up off your butt and start fixing your problem.
Others can help, but only you can fix your problem.

If by that you think I am another "conservative Republican," you are wrong. I am a "social liberal" who thinks that a strong national defense is absolutely required, and that we are indeed in a very long war with radical elements of the Islamic faith.

At the same time I also believe that we do have some serious social problems in this country and that we need to do some thinking about ways to fix them. For example, you can't have a society in which the low end can't afford health insurance, the high end not caring what it costs and the middle paying for it. That's a formula for, in the long run, disaster.

So if you have found yourself in "Tall Cotton," stick around, come back soon and drop me a comment right now. All I ask is you stay mostly on topic, keep your language PG13 and NO porn of any kind. And no personal attacks.

  1. What, no personal attacks? That's half the fun!

Just kidding, I'll look back in on you again. Good luck with your blog.

  2. OK, I'll dive in with a comment.
I agree that we must have a strong military defense and do everything possible to blunt the threat of militant Islamics that want to do us harm.
But how we go about that is equally important. I don't think our occupation of a foreign middle eastern nation will protect us from future attacks. And our continued occupation and rebuilding efforts in Iraq is not only draining our resources, but actually preventing us from developing a strong military defense which we must have for threats that loom on the horizon from sources other than extreme Islamics.
I could go on, but this is probably enough for my first comment.
Good luck on your blogging adventure.

msken... Would you be the video poker player?

vanman - I have no problem with waterboarding, but as a general policy I would like to restrict to cases of dire emergancies where the info is life and death. If you just do it to all we capture, then we have nothing to threaten with.
