Sharia law and moderate Muslims

As any regular reader knows, I distinguish between moderate and radical Muslim terrorists by just that. I carefully write "radical Muslim terrorists."

I do that because I recognize that the radicals are a tiny minority and that moderates are a majority.

Of course the question is this. Why does the majority tolerate the actions of the radicals?

Obviously many moderate Muslims don't want to condemn the radicals because they fear the radicals. And that is understandable. But it doesn't answer the questions raised by a poll among Muslims in Detroit.

Mosque participants were asked, whether they agree or disagree with the statement, "Sharia should be the law of the land in Muslim countries?" Sharia refers to Islamic law.

I don't see 81% supporting Sharia as moderate. Sharia law contains numerous provisions that deny tenets of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Conversion from Islam is punishable by death; non-Muslims are second-class citizens; a woman's testimony is not admissible in her own rape case, and on and on. If these Detroit Muslims were truly moderate, they would renounce Sharia.

The problem is this. IF the Muslims surveyed see no problem with Sharia law in MUSLIM countries I think it obvious they would have no problem with it here.

Why do I say this? If Sharia law is not allowed then the radicals lose a huge part of their justification.

Yet when I watched CNN's totally biased report Sunday night on opposition to building a mosque in Rutherford county I watched a native born TN female claim that there are no problems.

Of all the people who you would think would have a problem with any religion that had any current practitioners following Sharia law, you would think females and gays would be front and foremost.

I think it plain that we haven't been educating people.

The Bronze Rat

A tourist walked into a Chinese curio shop in San
Francisco. While looking around at the exotic
merchandise, he noticed a very lifelike, life-sized,
bronze statue of a rat. It had no price tag, but was
so incredibly striking the tourist decided he must
have it. He took it to the old shop owner and
asked, "How much for the bronze rat?"

"Ahhh, you have chosen wisely! It is $12 for the
rat, $100 for the story," said the old Chinaman.

The tourist quickly pulled out twelve dollars.
"I'll just take the rat, you can keep the
story".

As he walked down the street carrying his bronze rat, the
tourist noticed that a few real rats had crawled out of the
alleys and sewers and had begun following him down the
street. This was a bit disconcerting so he began walking faster.
A couple blocks later he looked behind him and saw to his horror the
herd of rats behind him had grown to hundreds, and they
began squealing.

Sweating now, the tourist began to trot toward the Bay.
Again, after a couple blocks, he looked around only to
discover that the rats now numbered in the MILLIONS,
and were squealing and coming toward him faster and faster.
Terrified, he ran to the edge of the Bay and threw the
bronze rat as far as he could into the Bay. Amazingly, the
millions of rats all jumped into the Bay after the bronze
rat, and were all drowned.

The man walked back to the curio shop in Chinatown.
"Ahhh," said the owner, "You have come back for story?"
"No, sir." said the man, "I came back to see if you have
a bronze Democrat."

A crying shame - We are building and repairing Mosques

And we're borrowing money to give to Muslims to do it?

Why? We're founded on separation of church and state. Why should we violate our own Constitution?

The DOS claims it is all about "out reach." Pure BS. The Muslim world sees this as weakness.

It is time to elect a President who will reach in and straighten this mess out. I don't see Romney or Huntsman doing anything but giving us more of the same.

A repeatable experiment that shows man made global warming is a hoax

With the east coast hit by a hurricane and now New Orleans about to get slapped by a tropical storm we can brace for a rash of lies by the man made global warming hoaxers.

Meanwhile, what you are not seeing on TV is this:

The science is now all-but-settled on global warming, convincing new evidence demonstrates, but Al Gore, the IPCC and other global warming doomsayers won’t be celebrating. The new findings point to cosmic rays and the sun — not human activities — as the dominant controller of climate on Earth.

The research, published with little fanfare this week in the prestigious journal Nature, comes from über-prestigious CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, one of the world’s largest centres for scientific research involving 60 countries and 8,000 scientists at more than 600 universities and national laboratories. CERN is the organization that invented the World Wide Web, that built the multi-billion dollar Large Hadron Collider, and that has now built a pristinely clean stainless steel chamber that precisely recreated the Earth’s atmosphere.
In this chamber, 63 CERN scientists from 17 European and American institutes have done what global warming doomsayers said could never be done — demonstrate that cosmic rays promote the formation of molecules that in Earth’s atmosphere can grow and seed clouds, the cloudier and thus cooler it will be. Because the sun’s magnetic field controls how many cosmic rays reach Earth’s atmosphere (the stronger the sun’s magnetic field, the more it shields Earth from incoming cosmic rays from space), the sun determines the temperature on Earth.

Let me summarize what the CERN research shows. Cause and effect:

Sun’s Magnetic field increases
Cosmic rays hitting earth decrease
Clouds decrease
Temperature increases

Sun’s Magnetic field decreases
Cosmic rays hitting earth increase
Clouds increase
Temperature decreases

What the CERN experiment shows is the cause and effect of variations in the sun’s magnetic field on the creation of clouds and the temperature. And if does it in a method that is repeatable. That is the basis of the scientific method.

Everything else we have is based on “claims” and “consensus.” Claims, of course, are often based on bias and consensus is merely a bunch of people agreeing on something. Neither have any meaning in science.

Dark Avenger often drops by to lodge an insult. Most of the time I delete them. But time to time I will answer.

It's risible you, one of the worse spellers on the planet, should have a feature about the English language.

Well, on the issue of spelling I admit that whatever expertise I had was lost long ago when first I had an assistant to take dictation and/or convert my scribblings into a readable document. When computers and spell checkers came along and I started doing emails, etc., the problem was compounded.

Of course DA has never had a position in which his time was considered more valuable than a secretary so he has difficulty grasping this.

As for "liberal."

I remind Dark Avenger that I have long defined myself as a social liberal. By that I mean that I believe in minority rights, including gay marriage. I don't mean by this I believe in unequal rights, nor hate speech laws.

That means I am not a Leftie who will take your money to allow him to look good while giving it to someone else or defend to your death your right to agree with him.

I just think that everyone should have an equal shot at the grand prize and if you have a problem with God you can work it out with God. I have enough problems with my own sins to waste time worrying about yours.

All of this is based on your rights ending where my nose begins.

That means I can have my male child circumcised and I don't need anyone to tell me that "Happy Meals" used as the main and only course is likely to lead to fat and unhealthy children.

I do not and will not live in San Francisco.

And speaking of risible, we find the Left forbidding people from killing themselves by smoking in bars but allowing them to kill themselves and others by drinking in bars.

I am conservative on defense. Simply put, if we don't have a country then we have nothing.

I am conservative on money. Simply put, we have spent ourselves into bankruptcy and created a whole class of people dependent on Medicare and Social Security by taxing them to the point saving was greatly impeded. Subject taxes were used to create a class of people who are now totally dependent on the government and even think this is right.

Government has become too big, too intrusive and too expensive.

And DA, if you find my positions "illiberal" then I suggest you get use to them because they mostly represent the vast majority of the country.
