President Obama loves to hear the sound of his voice. And he loves to be seen. He's given 3 times more interviews, and official talks, than President Bush had done in the same few months in office. Sadly, the more he talks, the more we see him, the less we know who he is. He seems to be disappearing in a vague cloud of uncertainty, beyond the American horizon. It's hard to explain. So many of his words contradict one another that it's nearly impossible to pin him down to one solid idea which might solve one problem, just one, that USA is facing presently. He is unable to keep his fluttering mind and body on a steady course of rational action.
It's painful to watch. Also very scary. This is a man with no sense of history, who believes that your country was born the day he was elected.
Listening to him at the UN, apologising for your country, making promises that America will be better, now that he is in charge, trying to win approval from dictators, tyrants, European leaders who couldn't care less about USA, except to extract money, I thought of my mother. She would have pulled him by the ears back home, and told him sternly, "You will not be allowed out until you learn that, in public, we stand proud and clap hands for our family's talents and deeds."
I reached 80 years last week. How much better can you be, and how much more can you do for the world than what I have witnessed your country doing in all the years of my life? You have been everywhere, fighting communism, fascism, nazism, and now terrorism. You saved the world, gasping for breath, more than once. After many wars, you revived and kept countries going till they could stand on their feet. If the Europeans are free enough today to criticise you openly, it's because you have bought their freedom with your blood on battlefields. Obama would do well to remind the world of your soldiers' sacrifices on its behalf.
Who is this Obama man, this self-centered, delusional coward who didn't have the courage to stand tall in the UN and tell the world, "Mind your manners when you're speaking to us. We are Americans. You have no lessons to give us. You owe us everything you own. We do not care for love, only for willing, respectful partnership. If you do not give it, we will go back home and leave you wallowing in your mud. And be warned that we also have the power and the knowhow to deal with the impudent enemies of democracy. We have used our power once, and we will do it again, if necessary."
That little no-backbone man...What a disgrace! I cried when I heard him. I'm still crying...
I had coffee with other retired ladies this morning. We meet every two weeks and discuss politics around the world. I often share your posts. Your language is acceptable to them. And you offer reputable links to support your viewpoints.
This morning, I read to them my comment on UN Obama's speech. They do not agree with my evaluation. I explained that it's not so much what he said but what he didn't say. I also felt that the apologetic tone, and the promise that things will be better with him, was an implied criticism of President Bush. I don't believe that a USA President should bow down in order to be "loved" around the world. And the world needs to remember what USA has done for it to regain its freedom. I also wish Obama would be stronger when speaking with Iran and other dictators.
Nevertheless, those ladies are intelligent people, often astute in their political assessments. I am not reversing my thinking. I'm offering theirs. They think Obama gave a fair speech. The world might cooperate with him. And tyrants have been properly warned...
I'm holding my breath....Thank you for accepting my comments.
Claudia, unfortunately these ladies believe in Unicorns.
Oh they may not say they do, and they would disagree with you and me if we told them they do, but in fact they do.
They want peace and therefore will believe who ever promises them peace. At this time Obama tells them, and the world that all is fine, and thus the ladies are happy to beleive him.
There is little difference in what they believe and Chamberlain's "peace in our time." And there is no doubt that the result will be the same. War.
An Engineer is not a Scientist. He doesn't think like a Scientist. He doesn't have the same value-system in his judgments. But he's even more anti-mystic than the Scientist!
- John W Cambell, Jr - Analog Science Fiction Science Fact, December 1966
Which explains why many scientists buy into the man made warming hoax and many engineers reject it. Scientists want to know why and believe. Engineers want to build.
