Clean those toliets!

Department of Education officials are investigating after students at a Bronx school claimed they were forced to clean toilets as a punishment.

Some students at In-Tech Academy in Kingsbridge say they were assigned janitorial duties as part of their detention as recently as last week.

"After school the principal came in with the inspector lady and she was like 'Oh, everyone has to pitch in and clean the toilets and stuff.' So we was cleaning them and we had to clean around them and nasty, it was just mad nasty," said one student.

"Like that's not cool, like making kids clean toilets like that's not how that should go," said another student.

The DOE says if the allegations are true, appropriate action will be taken.

I hope the "approprioate action" is to give them scrub brushes and a jumbo bottle of Lysol...

I mean, they really seem to think they are too good to clean up their own toliets.

And we wonder where Liberals come from.

Democrats Vote Down 5 Percent Rule

In a bid to stem taxpayer losses for bad loans guaranteed by federal housing agencies Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac, Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn) proposed that borrowers be required to make a 5% down payment in order to qualify.
His proposal was rejected 57-42 on a party-line vote because, as Senator Chris Dodd (D-Conn) explained, "passage of such a requirement would restrict home ownership to only those who can afford it."

Laying aside the paranoid thoughts of Big Brother snooping around, this is a clossal waste of money.

First, if the FCC wants to know the performance of the ISP they need to go to the server(s) of the ISP and measure the various parameters.....bit rate, errors, etc.

Why?

Because measurements at the users end, home or business, can be useless. That is, if you use AOL, for example, AOL can be performing fine but the cable between your house and the nearest SA-1 cross connect can be bad and you will have problems... or the DSL installed by the local telephone company can be bad... or... well, you get the idea. Your connection to the wide wide world of the Internet is not one huge seamless mass controlled by a single entity.

Now the folks sponsoring this know the above. So the real question is, why are they doing it? And the answer has to be that someone in government has a program they want to implement and they need the information to prove that they must spend a billion dollars of our money to solve a problem.

And if the FCC is going to set regulations and control who can do what when... well, you get the point.

And the government is just so up to date. Remember that some of those taxes on your phone bill were enancted to pay for a war... The Spainish American war... over a hundred years ago.

They can keep their routers and recording of problems that are being solved right now at no cost to the tax payer.

A containment system is siphoning up some 15,000 barrels of oil a day to the surface via a mile-long pipe but flow estimates indicate the same amount of crude could still being leaking into the Gulf and feeding the giant spill.

X - 15,000 = X.

Yeah. Sure.

Now that means that the grand total is about $29.25 billion.

And we got what for this money?

No one can figure out how to cap the oil leak. No one can provide us with a cheap substitute for gasoline. No one has a cancer cure...

Heck, outside of getting immediately drunk again they can't even find a hangover cure.

Yet we are spending $100. per person each and every year on research.

I'm serious. Somebody tell me what we're buying with all this federal money being dumped on the universities. I mean besides scare papers on the man made global warming hoax designed to get more money next year.

I think we should just stick it up a pigs butt and yell "Soooey!"

Wait. To a great extent that's what we have done.

Paypal shuts off Atlas Shrugged

The little money that Atlas generates (I have no large donors) is about to be cut off. Apparently the jihad is hard at work trying to kill free speech (and the bus ads and the 911 no mosque movement), preventing it from making its way to those in pursuit of truth. Paypal contributions help pay for bus ads, rallies, live coverage (everything), and I so much as said so when asked repeatedly by the press who paid for the bus ads. Readers do and did.

Paypal is calling Atlas a "hate" site and will close my account if I do not remove the paypal option from my website. Accurate reporting and news is hate.

Truth is the new hate speech:

Please email or call paypal and let them know Atlas Shrugs is a news site and political blog. I am not responsible for the bad news in the world. I just report.

UPDATE: Wait, it get's better. Paypal's policy is for " items that promote hate, violence, racial intolerance or thefinancial exploitation of a crime."

I am not selling anything. But this this ebayer is. He is selling imam Awlaki's incitement to racist, violent jihad screeds. Awlaki is the imam to the the worst of the jihad stars, like the 911 Muslim terrorists, the Fort Hood jihadi Hasan, the Times Square car bomber, Christmas balls bomber, et al.

Whether or not you completely agree withor believe everything AS posts, and I don't, the double standard of this is obvious. Plus, Paypal is in the business of facilitating payments over the Internet. Primarily for Ebay who owns them.

If they think that a transaction violates the law then they should say so, stop the transaction and turn the matter over to the proper law enforcement agency.

Other than that they should stay away from the content business. You wouldn't want your bank to have the right to approve what you buy or read before they process the check, would you?

Would it be okay for your cellphone company to shut down your account because you've been using it to say things someone doesn't like?

I sent Paypal an Email last night saying that if this continues I will not use them. And since all I do use them for is Ebay transactions, personal checks and/or money orders work fine, if slower.

This is similar to what we see on newspaper forums where posts/comments re radical Muslims and Islam in general often just disappear after two or three readers hit the "abuse" button. And while the moderator can bring the post/comment back it is rarely done. The moderator doesn't want to get involved in a fight plus rarely has the time to devote to such.

So the censors win.
