History of Mayonnaise

Hellmann's Mayonnaise - a bit of history.

Most people don't know that back in 1912, Hellmann's mayonnaise was manufactured in England.

In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New York. This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico.

But as we know, the great ship did not make it to New York. The ship hit an iceberg and sank, and the cargo was forever lost. The people of Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise, and were eagerly awaiting its delivery, were disconsolate at the loss.

Their anguish was so great, that they declared a National Day of Mourning, which they still observe to this day. The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is known, of course,



as - Sinko De Mayo.

Obama is going to double your electric bill

Cape Wind, which wants to build 130 wind turbines off the coast of Cape Cod, and National Grid announced yesterday that they’ve reached an agreement to start charging customers 20.7 cents per kilowatt hour in 2013 - more than double the current rate of electricity from conventional power plants and land-based wind farms.

I have posted this because it shows what the current cap and trade, actually cap and tax, law that Obama is pushing will do.

What this means is that most residential users will have their rates double from around 10 cents per KWH to the 20.7 cents per kwh in the article about wind power.

What that means is that your $200 electric bill becomes $400.

What that means is that your $350. electric bill becomes $700.

Business owners will also be hit the same way. They will have to respond by:

1. Firing staff to reduce cost.

2. Raising prices to increase margin/cash flow.

3. Firing some staff and raising prices.

4. Closing the doors and going out of business.

The environmental wackos will argue that this will force consumers to consume less. That is true. People with no money and no jobs spend less. A lot less.

Others will argue that this will force consumers and business owners to install more efficient appliances and to improve insulation in their homes and buildings and this will improve jobs.

I will tell you that when I retired in 2004 we purchased an existing home. I have replaced all appliances with the most energy efficient appliances including CFL lighting in most areas and added insulation.

In 2004 the price of electricity from my local utility was around 7 cents. Today it is around 10 cents.

And despite all the money and effort spent the average monthly bill has went up around 40%. Simply put, the energy savings using standard available technology has provided only a break even.

This is what we get for allowing a political class to exist who mostly have no knowledge of technology. They are mostly lawyers, and having elected them over and over they have become out of touch and self serving.

This fall we will have the most important election in our history.

I thought about titling this "Educators again prove that they have no common sense.

But I didn't. So hit the red link. Listen to how the school reacted. Vote NO on the next ballot issue for the schools. Go to your local school board meetings. Scream at them to teach patriotism. Call the mayor's office. Yell about too many administrators and not enough teachers.

You know. Practice Leftist style democracy. After all, they taught us.

Oil money flowed to Obama.

While the BP oil geyser pumps millions of gallons of petroleum into the Gulf of Mexico, President Barack Obama and members of Congress may have to answer for the millions in campaign contributions they’ve taken from the oil and gas giant over the years.

BP and its employees have given more than $3.5 million to federal candidates over the past 20 years, with the largest chunk of their money going to Obama, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Donations come from a mix of employees and the company’s political action committees — $2.89 million flowed to campaigns from BP-related PACs and about $638,000 came from individuals.

During his time in the Senate and while running for president, Obama received a total of $77,051 from the oil giant and is the top recipient of BP PAC and individual money over the past 20 years, according to financial disclosure records.

Times Square Attack - Two down and the big one to come?

We have now had two failed attacks in a row, this one and the Underwear Bomber on NW253 that failed. The scary part is that they failed not because of what we did, but because the attackers were, to a degree, incompetent.

Depending upon the stupidity of your enemy is not an acceptable defense.

We can cheer the great police work.

But the intelligence work failed. Again. Just as it did with the NW253 attack and just as it did on 9/11. Remember. The CIA knew an attack was coming, but it didn't know where, when or how. Bush's NSA advised all the agencies on 7/5.

"At the special meeting on July 5 were the FBI, Secret Service, FAA, Customs, Coast Guard, and Immigration. We told them that we thought a spectacular al Qaeda terrorist attack was coming in the near future." That had been had been George Tenet's language. "We asked that they take special measures to increase security and surveillance. Thus, the White House did ensure that domestic law enforcement including the FAA knew that the CSG believed that a major al Qaeda attack was coming, and it could be in the U.S., and did ask that special measures be taken."

Yet almost 9 years later very little has changed on the prevention side. All we know is that an attack is coming.

Maybe its time to quit congratulating ourselves and start figuring out how to prevent them.

The scary part is that with the election of Obama we have returned to the failed "this is a criminal justice matter."

No. It is not. This is a national defense matter and Obama's lack of effort in this will, sooner or later, enable a terrorist who is not incompetent and he kill thousands of Americans.
