No, I am not making this up.

Heck, no one would believe if they just read:

(Toks) Omishakin’s new position as Director of Healthy Living is an expansion of his current responsibilities. Since January 2009, Omishakin has worked as the staff member for the Mayor’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC), which was created to provide policy direction on making Nashville more bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly.

However, when I add this there is no longer any doubt.

Mayor Karl Dean announced today that he has created a new position in his office to oversee the implementation of Nashville’s healthy living initiatives.

The position is being funded through a stimulus grant awarded to Metro Government by the U.S. Health and Human Services Department (HHS) as part of the Communities Putting Prevention to Work program. In a highly-competitive process, HHS awarded more than $370 million to 44 communities across the country to support public health efforts to reduce chronic disease. Nashville was the only city in Tennessee to be awarded one of the grants and will receive $7.5 million over two years.

Ain't you glad we have Obamie giving Hiz Honor our money so he can waste it giving Toks a job?

iPad and Pagers

The pic is a shot of people in line to purchase an iPad tomorrow...

As someone who had an Improved Mobile Telephone Service - IMTS - in his car, along with a CB radio and Radar Detector, I can state that I fully participated in "He who dies with the most toys wins" life style.

In fact at one point I had a car phone, cell phone, pager and voice mail.

The pager was super cool. It was almost as thin as a business card and not much larger. With it I could see the telephone number of who was paging me and decide when and where to return the call without having to hear the obligatory voice mail.

I loved voice mail. I could wait until 11:00 PM or so, call up four or five people, ask my question or answer their question without having to be distracted by trying to sell somebody something today. That was a concept that we use to hold dear and I assume that hasn't gone out of date.

But somewhere in there the car phone and the pager were deep sixed and I figured out I could call forward calls to my office number to the cell phone. Which let me travel and answer calls without having to check voice mail and do the old telephone tag trick. Very neat. It confused some people. Of course most of them accepted my explanation that it was PFMABES.

But I never got into the texting thing. If I want to communicate I will call and you can answer or not. Your choice. And I can see someone texting a message so as to not interrupt a super important meeting.... But really. There aren't that many super important meetings...

So you won't see me punching my Blackberry or slobbering over my iPad. In fact, I may go back to a pager. Page me and I'll call you back.... When and where I want.

Enough of this be in contact junk. Every now and then privacy, peace, quiet and the ability to think through what is going to be said is more important than interruptions, disturbances, noisy ringers playing music and "ooops, I didn't mean that the way it sounded....."

Hat tip to TalkLeft for pic and the memory jog.

Actions have consequences

And Obama's healthcare bill have bunches.

MOUNT DORA — A doctor who considers the national health-care overhaul to be bad medicine for the country posted a sign on his office door telling patients who voted for President Barack Obama to seek care "elsewhere."

"I'm not turning anybody away — that would be unethical," Dr. Jack Cassell, 56, a Mount Dora urologist and a registered Republican opposed to the health plan, told the Orlando Sentinel on Thursday. "But if they read the sign and turn the other way, so be it."

The sign reads: "If you voted for Obama … seek urologic care elsewhere. Changes to your healthcare begin right now, not in four years."

Naturally the Lefties are all in a snit. To quote a Democratic Congresscrittert:

"I'm disgusted," he (Grayson) said. "Maybe he thinks the Hippocratic Oath says, ‘Do no good.' If this is the face of the right wing in America, it's the face of cruelty. … Why don't they change the name of the Republican Party to the Sore Loser Party?"

Doesn't seem to enter into Grayson's mind that the Doctor has the absolute right to chose who to treat or not treat.

And Grayson isn't smart enough to understand that at age 56 the Doctor will probably just hang it up in a few years.

What happens then? The patients fo elsewhere.

Of course if elesewhere doesn't have any doctors....

Dark Avenger didn't get his rant out, so he's back with a few more snarks.

dimakaPPD has left a new comment on your post "Dark Avenger is given 1 comment in an attempt to h...":

(I wrote)That he happens to be black doesn't change that fact. It is an iconic image, just as the images of Bush and Reagan as nut case cowboys were considered iconic because of their background

No, that's why you use a photoshop of watermelons growing on the WH lawn, because images of watermelons have never been associated with African-Americans or people who happen to have a black skin color.

Nope. That’s Dan Rather’s vision of Obama:

DAN RATHER: Part of the undertow in the coming election is going to be President Obama's leadership. And the Republicans will make a case and a lot of independents will buy this argument. "Listen he just hasn't been, look at the health care bill. It was his number one priority. It took him forever to get it through and he had to compromise it to death." And a version of, "Listen he's a nice person, he's very articulate" this is what's been used against him, "but he couldn't sell watermelons if it, you gave him the state troopers to flag down the traffic."

Are you accusing Rather of racism? Wow!

And here I was thinking you watched "Obama gives me a tingle up my leg Mathews>"

(I wrote)Obamie used race to be elected and the media carried his water. He continues to want to do that. The press continues to help him.

Too bad you can't demonstrate your assertion is true.

Oh. Really? Well, I just gave you Chris Mathews and his infamous statement.

Is that why Michael Steele was elected chairman of the RNC, because of his race, or was it merely a coincidence that they decided that a black man should be the voice of the Republican party at the same time that BHO became POTUS?

I have no idea as to why Steele was elected. His performance so far has been average.

And is that why Bush appointed Powell and Rice?

Thanks for demonstrating why 55% of the country won't vote for Sarah Palin in a national election, you're making her seem like the late Sen Chase of Maine by comparison, not that there's anything wrong with that.

And what does Palin have to do this? And Chase?? As I said, you can’t stay on topic.

Now, I have let you say your piece. But the palatial retirement compound, catfish farm and BBQ stand requires my attention.

TaTa!

The Dark Avenger returns in a disguise!

The Dark Avenger has replied to my comments, and assuming a new moniker, has written the following. Since I am in a jovial mood today I have decided to publish some of his cries, again in an attempt to educate him.

dimakaPPD has left a new comment on your post "Dark Avenger is given 1 comment in an attempt to h...":

DA, you were banned after being told numerous times that your comments were off topic.

But the images that you couldn't use in the newspaper forum weren't, even though they display a level of sophistication suitable for a junior high election campaign.

Since you haven’t the vaguest idea what the topics were, why do you make that claim? In fact, one was about the WOT and the other Obamacare.

(I wrote) If I commented that it was a beautiful day and that I thought Obama's energy policy was harming the country you would come back with several hundred words on the fact it was not a beautiful day in California and that this article on Wiki proved it.

I'd certainly look out the window before taking anything you said about the weather seriously.

(I wrote) Your actions are known as "reframing the debate" as a defense against whatever point the opponent has made.

Yes, using facts and reasoning to prove whatever stupidity you've picked up from Faux Snews or World Nut Daily is so disconcerting.

You still don’t get it. It is the reframe attempt, and the snarks that got you banned. You are unable to stay on topic.

As I've said before, if Obama walked on water, you'd be breathlessly telling us how it proves he's a secret Islamofascist.

As I have posted before, I wish Obama and his family good health and happiness. But I regard his policies and actions a disaster for the country. That is my point of view and Obama is proving me correct on a daily basis.

Do I think he is an “Islamfascist?” I know he was raised in Muslim countries and cultures until he was around 10. His actions in bowing to Muslim kings demonstrate an unhealthy amount of respect for them.

Your problem is that you can dish it out, but you can't take it in return.

This isn’t the local playground or junior high locker room. If you don’t like the rules, leave.

My point was that the terrorist attacks we have had are mostly from radical Muslim Arabs.

Timothy McVeigh, the guy who set off bombs during the Olympics in Atlanta, the guy who shot up the Holocaust museum, the one who flew his plane into an IRS building all weren't Muslim Arabs, along with the shoebomber Richard Reid or the underpants bomber, albeit the last two were Muslim.

If McVeigh didn’t exist the Left would have to invent him to use as an excuse for radical Islam.

OTOH, the members of the Christian Militia that has been accused of plotting to kill police in their area were certainly neither Muslim or Arab, which I'm sure would've been a consolation to the victims and their family and friends if the plot had ever come to fruition.

Well, since I am a Moderate Christian I must tell you that I decry such actions as they do not follow the teachings of the Bible. In fact, they aren’t Christians.

But I would hope that the US would examine itself to understand that many things it does insult these people's beliefs and culture and the US should start to accept their beliefs in the name of all that is good and holy, AKA diversity… (Sarcasm alert!)

(I wrote)Time to put childish "feel good" things behind us. Not all Arabs and/or other Muslims are terrorists. But enough terrorists have met that description that we are fools to not not understand that simple fact.

It's not a matter of feelgood, it's a matter of common sense.

Target all the "Muslim Arabs"(and how can you tell a Muslim Arab from a Christian Arab, or a Caucasian Muslim with white skin and blue eyes?). It only makes the terrorist's job easier, as they need to just recruit people who don't "look" like a Muslim Arab, just someone who looks like me or PPJ or a woman as the Chechens have done in their terrorism in Russia.

Uh, the editorial cartoon referred to “airport.” And do you really think that appearance is the driving issue? How juvenile of you.

(I wrote)Obamie's pic is spot on. It was part of a post re his healthcare plan (?) that he demonstrated a remarkable ability to lie and put on a show over a patient that his actions were actually harming. That defines the actions of a witch doctor.

Yes, closing the doughnut hold in Medicare D and having children eligible for medical insurance despite any pre-existing conditions is so going to take this country to rack and ruin.

$500 billion removed from Medicare will destroy it. Especially with the huge numbers of retirees being dumped on Medicare that is now happening because companies loosing tax benefits.

Or didn’t you know? Oh, wait. You don’t watch Fox News, so you’re ignorant of this.

Click on this to educate yourself.

BTW - Dozens of othere companies have now made the same announcement. Hair-in-the-Nose Waxman is in a dither and doing his usual. What can we call the voters who have elected him for 36 yuears?

Yep, your picture sure takes that idea to the logical conclusion.

Yes, yes it does.

That's a fairly simple concept I neither had to crib from the Wikipedia or is reframing the issue, but I realize it presents a challenge to your habit of moving the goalposts when it becomes apparent you're not going to score on points in an argument.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

You still don’t get it. If the post is about Obama’s energy policy you are not allowed to start talking about the weather.

(I wrote)The comment made is harsh, but accurate. Editorial cartoons are often harsh.

But if someone dares post words that are harsh and accurate on your blog, that can't stand.

Go(sic) it.

No, you still don’t and you never will. Stay on topic is a concept that is beyond you.

(I wrote)I might also point out that indians had their medicine men.

Every culture has their version of medicine men, in our case, we call them doctors, and hope that when they prescribe the latest medicine, that it doesn't turn out to be the latest version of Vioxx or Rezulin.

Medical researchers even go into the Amazon jungle to see what medicinal plants the shamen there use and know about that aren't known to Western Medicine.

Yeah, and some have even looked a mold on bread….. And yes, I will take my chances with a certified US Doctor as compared to an elected Witch Doctor.

And come 2016 millions more will be with me!

BTW – Be a man and use your real moniker. You fool no one.
