Yesterday WWII came to a close in 1945. I still remember how happy everyone was and how I was convinced, despite my Mom’s warning that my Dad and uncles would not be home immediately. It took six months but one day he just walked through the door. My uncles made it home over the next few months.
We were lucky. None were killed. 416,800 others never made it back.
I think of that every time some idiot Leftie starts off telling us that we shouldn’t have dropped the bomb. Of course we should have. It probably saved at least 200,000 American lives and that’s good enough for me.
And I know that’s a point that’s been made time and again, but it is also true. And in today’s world the truth needs repeating regularly.
Pulled up the cucumber vines. They were still blooming but the cucumbers were dampening off at the end. But we have plenty of pickle relish.
I called our local School Supt. He said he had just found out about Obama’s speech next Tuesday and hadn’t discussed it with his staff. He is either lying or oblivious. Neither is acceptable. Since he said “Obama is our President,” I think I know what his decision will be.
I briefly thought of telling him that since “our” was the possessive form of “we” I assumed that he thought we owned Obama but I didn’t want to correct the head school master.
The tomato plants are next. I shall get them this PM or tomorrow. I set out Better Boys and Better Girls and challenged them to race each other. They came in a dead heat. The cold spell after the first crop ripened hurt the secondary fruit considerably. They were smaller and tough but tasted good and the green ones fried well.
My youngest just dropped by for a visit and told me that in Thousand Oaks, CA an Obamie supporter had rushed across the street and attacked a group of anti-health care reform demonstrators and bit a finger off one of Obamie’s enemies. The finger became lodged in the attacker’s throat and he had to be rushed to the hospital.
No doubt the unpatriotic anti-health care supporter will be charged with trying to choke the Obamie minion.
The okra continues to grow. I now have to use a step ladder to pick them. They should produce for another month and I plan on freezing five or six more meals. I have read where the seeds can be dried and crushed and used as coffee.
Our fascination with Obama continues. He is continually described as FDR by members of the Left who then demand that he govern as FDR. It doesn’t seem to come to them that the rest of the country figured out he is a Jimmy not a Franklin and that there are too many information sources for him to rule by speeches.
But he will try.

From The London Times:
A Well-Planned Retirement
Outside England 's Bristol Zoo there is a parking lot
for 150 cars and 8 buses. For 25 years, its
parking fees were managed by a very pleasant
attendant. The fees were £1 for cars ($1.40),
£5 for busses (about $7).
Then, one day, after 25 solid years of never missing
a day of work, he just didn't show up; so the Zoo
Management called the City Council and asked it
to send them another parking agent.
The Council did some research and replied that the
parking lot was the Zoo's own responsibility.
The Zoo advised the Council that the attendant was
a City employee.
The City Council responded that the lot attendant
had never been on the City payroll.
Meanwhile, sitting in his villa somewhere on the coast of Spain
(or some such scenario), is a man who'd apparently had a
ticket machine installed completely on his own; and then
had simply begun to show up every day, commencing
to collect and keep the parking fees, estimated at about
$560 per day -- for 25 years.
Assuming 7 days a week, this amounts to just over
$7 million dollars!
.....
And no one even knows his name.

Obama's forces push for takeover

Click on this for the "I pledge" video. Don't miss the personal pledge to be of service to Obama.
Dig the Soviet style artwork. And just keep repeating. All dictatorships start with a cult of the personality.
And if you laughed when Obama called for a civilian security force slam the door 5 times on your index finger....

Drug divorce government style

Pfizer Inc., the world's largest drug maker, will pay a record $2.3 billion civil and criminal penalty over unlawful prescription drug promotions, the Justice Department announced Wednesday.
The government said the company promoted four prescription drugs, including the pain killer Bextra, as treatments for medical conditions different than those the drugs had been approved for by federal regulators.
Use of drugs for so-called "off-label" medical conditions is not uncommon, but drug manufacturers are prohibited from marketing drugs for uses that have not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
A Pfizer subsidiary, Pharmacia and Upjohn Inc., which was acquired in 2003, has entered an agreement to plead guilty to one count of felony misbranding
Divorce is often described as "the screwing you get for the screwing you got" and I confess I find this to be like that.
First of all, if the people involved have broken the law, put'em in jail. Don't fine the corporations.
Why?
Because all the corporation will do is pass the $2.3 billion on to the people who must use their drugs. Just get ready. Look in your medicine cabinet and if your doctor has you using a drug manufactured by them the price is going to go up.
So who profits from these fines? The government. The same government who tells you they are concerned and worried about the cost of health care.
Sure. Uh-huh. You bet.

Obama to indoctrinate school children

On September 8, the Department of Education plans to run streaming video of President Barack Obama into the nation's public school classrooms. Teachers and students are carving time out their learning schedule to hear the President speak. The the exact subject of his speech is unclear at this point, but it's likely to revolve around his signed resolution marking September 11th as a "National Day of Service."
The Department of Ed's Teaching Ambassador Fellows group has put out a pre-K-6th grade "Menu of Classroom Activities" for teachers across the country to follow before, during and after the President's statement:
--Before the speech, build students' background knowledge of President Barack Obama by reading books about him and other U.S. Presidents. Ask students, "Why do you think he wants to speak to you?"
--Ask students what they can do to help in schools?
--Think about why it is "important that we listen to the President and other elected officials"?
--During the speech, teachers can ask students "to write down key ideas or phrases that are important or personally meaningful," and "younger children can draw pictures and write as appropriate."
--Students "could think about the following: What is the President trying to tell me? What is the President asking me to do? What new ideas and actions is the President challenging me to think about?" In addition, "students might think about: What specific job is he asking me to do?"
--"Teachers could ask students to share the ideas they recorded...to discuss main ideas from the speech, i.e. citizenship, personal responsibility, civic duty."
--Finally, "Students could discuss their responses to the following questions: What do you think the President wants us to do? Does the speech make you want to do anything? Are we able to do what President Obama is asking of us? What would you like to tell the government?"

Little Johnny - A historical view

The teacher said, "Let's begin by reviewing some American History. Who said 'Give me Liberty , or give me Death'?"
She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Little Johnny, a bright Navajo Indian boy who had his hand up. “Patrick Henry, 1775," he said.
"Very good!"
Who said, "Government of the People, by the People, for the People, shall not perish from the Earth?"
Again, no response except from Little Johnny, "Abraham Lincoln, 1863."
The teacher snapped at the class, "Class, you should be ashamed, Little Johnny knows more about history than you do."
She heard a loud whisper: "Screw the Indians."
"Who said that?" she demanded.
Little Johnny put his hand up, "General George Armstrong Custer, 1876."
At that point, a student in the back said, "I think I'm gonna puke."
The teacher glares around and asks, "All right! Now who said that!?"
Again, Little Johnny says, "George Bush to the Japanese Prime Minister, 1991."
Now furious, another student yells, "Oh yeah? Suck this!"
Little Johnny jumps out of his chair waving his hand and shouts to the teacher,
"Bill Clinton, to Monica Lewinsky, 1997!"
Now with almost mob hysteria someone said "You little shit. If you say anything else, I'll kill you."
Little Johnny frantically yells at the top of his voice, "Michael Jackson to the kid testifying against him,2004."
The teacher fainted.
And as the class gathered around the teacher on the floor, someone said, "Oh shit, we're screwed no matter what happens here!"
Little Johnny said quietly, "That would be the American Voters, November 4, 2008.

Why we don't take South American political leaders seriously enough

LA PAZ – The president of the United Nations General Assembly, Rev. Miguel D’Escoto Brockmann, on Saturday declared Bolivian President Evo Morales as “World Hero of Mother Earth” in a ceremony at the presidential palace in this capital.
With a medal and a parchment scroll, the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization named Morales “the maximum exponent and paradigm of love for Mother Earth” in the resolution for his decoration that was read during the ceremony.
The document added that the decision was taken “after extensive consultation” among representatives of the General Assembly’s member countries.
D’Escoto recalled that Morales “was the one who most helped” the United Nations declare last April 22 as International Mother Earth Day, or “Pachamama” as Mother Earth is said in Bolivia’s Aymara Indian tongue.
For his part, the president said that the honor is not for Evo Morales, “but for our ancestors and the native peoples” that “have always defended Mother Earth.”
This is nonsense. His ancestors cut down trees, trapped animals and probably sacrificed them to gods believeing that would ensure a good harvest. Many "civilizations" of the ancients disappeared because they cut down all the trees to be used as fuel. Same thing is now happening in parts of Africa. Many natives in South America wander through the forests engaging in slash and burn land clearing for farming.
Only the stupidest of the environmental wackos don't know that it is modern man, actually the culture of the west aided by our technology, that has helped "clean" up the environment destroyed by the acts of our, and their, ignorant ancestors.
He added that he will continue trying to get the international community to acknowledge the rights of Mother Earth.
The rights of who? People have rights..........Oh, wait.
Besides Morales, the former Cuban head of state Fidel Castro has been named “World Hero of Solidarity” and the late ex-president of Tanzania, Julius Nyerere, will be honored as “World Hero of Social Justice.”
“What we want to do is present these three people to the world and say that they embody virtues and values worth emulation by all of us,” said D’Escoto, who like the socialist Morales is a staunch critic of U.S. foreign policy in Latin America.
Yeah, like executing political opponents a la Castro and Che?
At last all is revealed.
D’Escoto was elected president of the 63rd session of the UN General Assembly on June 4, 2008, and was Nigaraguan foreign minister during the first Sandinista government from 1979 to 1990.
I am reminded of "The Wizard of Oz" except these flakes and fakes are actually dangerous.
