Summary. Sgt Weiss Rasool has been convicted of using his access to a police computer, at the request of a terrorist suspect, to access the network, determine that the suspect was under surveillance and so advise him.

"The target was arrested in November 2005, then convicted and deported, according to court filings in Rasool's case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeanine Linehan said that the target and his family were already dressed and destroying evidence at 6 a.m. when agents arrived to make the arrest, indicating that they had been tipped off."

In addition we find that:

Now the president of an Arlington, Va.-based counterterrorism research center is asking Rasool's bosses to reconsider their 2006 decision to cease using training programs offered by the center. Complaints by Rasool and an officer from another local agency that the training was anti-Islam prompted Fairfax County police to break with the Higgins Center for Counter Terrorism Research.

So he complains about counterterrorism training and rats out the FBI to a a person who was later convicted and deported. Guess what.

He is punished with two years probation and is still working. Wow.

Despite his plea to a misdemeanor, Rasool remains a Fairfax County police sergeant although he is under an internal affairs investigation.

Now you would think that such actions would lead some of the Muslim organizations to condemn Rasools actions. You would be wrong.

Among those writing to the sentencing judge in support of Rasool was CAIR governmental affairs director Corey Saylor. "I have always found Sgt. Rasool eager to promote a substantive relationship between the Fairfax County Police Department and the local Muslim community. His efforts played a significant role in improving trust in a time when mutual misunderstanding could easily severe (sic) all positive ties between these two groups

And who do we find joining Rasool in his attacks on the counterterrorism class?

Another officer who joined Rasool in complaining about the Higgins program works for an area sheriff's department, Leitner said. That officer claimed to be a representative from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Leitner said.

Catch a clue, chums. Our desire to be politically correct is leading us down the wrong road. Think things out.

If the person asking Rasool for help had been a Baptist would he have done so? Would he have told them that the FBI was following them?

Would the Southern Baptist Conference written a letter on his behalf to the sentencing judge??

If the class on terrorism had been about the KKK, would Rasool have complained about it?

And if he had, would the department have canceled the class?

A Japanese View of the Palestinians

If you are so sure that 'Palestine, the country, goes back through most of recorded history', I expect you to be able to answer a few basic questions about that country of Palestine:
When was it founded and by whom?
What were its borders?
What was its capital?
What were its major cities?
What constituted the basis of its economy?
What was its form of government?
Can you name at least one Palestinian leader before Arafat?
Was Palestine ever recognized by a country whose existence, at that time or now, leaves no room for interpretation?
What was the language of the country of Palestine?
What was the prevalent religion of the country of Palestine?
What was the name of its currency? Choose any date in history and tell what was the approximate exchange rate of the Palestinian monetary unit against the US dollar, German mark, GB pound, Japanese yen, or Chinese yuan on that date.
And, finally, since there is no such country today, what caused its demise and when did it occur?
You are lamenting the 'low sinking' of a 'once proud' nation. Please tell me, when exactly was that 'nation' proud and what was it so proud of?
And here is the least sarcastic question of all: If the people you mistakenly call 'Palestinians' are anything but generic Arabs collected from all over -- or thrown out of -- the Arab world, if they really have a genuine ethnic identity that gives them right for self-determination, why did they never try to become independent until Arabs suffered their devastating defeat in the Six Day War?
I hope you avoid the temptation to trace the modern day 'Palestinians' to the Biblical Philistines: substituting etymology for history won't work here.
The truth should be obvious to everyone who wants to know it. Arab countries have never abandoned the dream of destroying Israel; they still cherish it today. Having time and again failed to achieve their evil goal with military means, they decided to fight Israel by proxy. For that purpose, they created a terrorist organization, cynically called it 'the Palestinian people' and installed it in Gaza, Judea, and Samaria. How else can you explain the refusal by Jordan and Egypt to unconditionally accept back the 'West Bank' and Gaza, respectively?
The fact is, Arabs populating Gaza, Judea, and Samaria have much less claim to nationhood than that Indian tribe that successfully emerged in Connecticut with the purpose of starting a tax-exempt casino: at least that tribe had a constructive goal that motivated them. The so called 'Palestinians' have only one motivation: the destruction of Israel, and in my book that is not sufficient to consider them a nation' -- or anything else except what they really are: a terrorist organization that will one day be dismantled.
In fact, there is only one way to achieve peace in the Middle East. Arab countries must acknowledge and accept their defeat in their war against Israel and, as the losing side should, pay Israel reparations for the more than 50 years of devastation they have visited on it. The most appropriate form of such reparations would be the removal of their terrorist organization from the land of Israel and accepting Israel's ancient sovereignty over Gaza, Judea, and Samaria.
That will mark the end of the Palestinian people. What are you saying again was its beginning?

Medicare and gays and social security

Can someone tell me why I should care??? If this is a sin, then the sinner will be judged by God, not by me. And given that marriage is good for the stability of the state, from a pure secular view a married gay is a plus when compared to an unmarried heterosexual couple.

And before you get too worked up over the sin thing you might want to check out what the Bible has to say about adultery.....

And while we are at it, will someone tell me why it is okay for an employer to pay for health insurance for an employee, but not okay for the government??

In both cases the patient is directed to a "network" of people approved by the "authorities," and you aren't going to see a "specialist" until the gate keeper opens the door.

As for the so-called "personal relationship," get serious. I have a primary care physician and she does a good job. It only takes about a week to get to see her, and if you actually need a doctor NOW, then the answer is the emergency room or a Convenient Care center.

Let's face it, chums. The issue is cost. Those of you having employer paid insurance are concerned that you will lose it and that your taxes will go up to cover "everyone."

And that's an understandable concern. But think of this. As of now the employer is using the health insurance payment to reduce their taxes. Guess where the tax money is actually coming from....

The most notable excuse is that Social Security is "insurance" and not a retirement plan. Okay fine. Take the insurance out and keep it on the side. We can do two things at the same time you know....

Which reminds me of the Left's excuse that we can't fight in Iraq and Afghanistan at the same time.

It's raining... it's pouring... my love life is

I confess that I have never seen the HBO show. Any network that has Bill Maher on it gets no money of mine. Besides, if the show is worth a flip it'll be available on DVD...

I guess this all started back in the late 60's when the Left urged us to "Make Love Not War."

Along with such sage advice came discos.... One I remember well featured a tall lanky young man who wore tight fitting trousers.. displaying physical talents that most men could only envy.... He was always on the dance floor and demonstrated moves only seen in "Grease."

Then one night, after just making such a move his trousers split in the crotch.... and there on the dance floor under the sparkling and speckled lights lay a sock... a rather large sock..

stepped on his we-we and has now tried to apologize three times.

This is what he said:

The truth is that reading will greatly assist you in learning to think critically and educate yourself. But reading alone won't let you just walk into a job. That will require special skills. And being a History or English Lit major is likely to only qualify you to say: "Wanna biggie size that?"

Having found himself in a hornet's nest he has tried three times to get out, but the problem is, he doesn't understand.

That wasn't my intention. I like the troops just fine, and respect the hell out of their brainpower. I know that most of them read.....It's the war our politicians--many of whom have never heard a shot fired in anger--have sent them to fight that I have a problem with.

What he doesn't understand is that when he runs his mouth the enemy the troops are fighting are encouraged. The terrorists believe that if they can hold on just a bit longer then the anti-war Left, one of which I believe King to be, will force a withdrawal and the terrorists will win. Of course to "hang on" the terrorists must kill some US troops, so the troops and those of us who support them, see his position as being un-supportive and counter productive.

King is a fantasy writer. He has been in his fantasy world too long. He rants a bit about "No Child Left Behind" a bit and then, having decided that no child is learning to read, comes up with this.

Many will be faced with entry-level jobs like clerking and handing out burgers from the drive-thru window. The best option for many is the armed services, because they see a chance to continue their educations and/or learn a marketable skill. Many will wind up in Iraq and Afghanistan. Some will die, because this is an entry-level position where kids wind up getting shot at.

What King doesn't understand is that most of the young men and women who join are patriotic and believe in this country, and believe in this culture and understand that the country and culture must be protected. That they may learn a skill is a plus, but that's not why they join. There are far too many other educational options available.

If King was truly concerned about the futures of these men and women he would be pressing for energy independence for thus country. To do that we must work on not only alternative sources, but drill for oil now and build nuclear power plants now. Two proven technologies that need only for King and his ilk to join with others in demanding that government get the hell out of the way.

But he won't. His success in writing fantasy has convinced him that he knows what the rest of us should do.

I for one know what I will do. I will no longer purchase King's books.
