This one's for harrogate

A few days ago I posted a piece about VO 67 and their secret mission in the Vietnam war era. It concluded with this:

Estimates of 75% loss of VO-67 Aircraft and combat crews by planners fortunately did not occur. Thanks to the Air Force FAC Pilots training and intelligence reports only 3 aircraft and 20 crewmembers were lost

I don't know the manning level of VO 67 but a typical P2 squadron had 12 aircraft with a crew of 11 each. A loss of 3 would be 25% and 20 crewmembers, which sounds like almost two complete crews to me. Better than the projection but big numbers when taken from a small group.

May their souls have found peace.

And may all the demonstrators whose protests extended that war rot in hell.

A commentator with the moniker of “Harrogate” has commented:

Hahahahahhahaha.

I have been trying to think of something to say in response.

But I have figured out that he is too stupid to understand anything subtle. So I have decided to do this post and use language he may be intelligent enough to understand.

It takes a special piece of shit to laugh at deaths of our service men.

Potatoes

Well, a Girl Potato and Boy Potato had eyes for each other. And finally they got married, and had a little sweet potato, which they called 'Yam.'

Of course, they wanted the best for Yam.

When it was time, they told her about the facts of life.

They warned her about going out And getting half-baked, so she
wouldn't get accidentally mashed, and get a bad Name for herself like
'Hot Potato,' and end up with a bunch of Tater Tots

Yam said not to worry, no Spud would get her into the sack and Make a
rotten potato out of her!

But on the other hand she Wouldn't stay home and become a Couch Potato
either.

She would get plenty of exercise so as not to be skinny like her
Shoestring Cousins.

When she went off to Europe , Mr. And Mrs. Potato told Yam to watch out
for the hard-boiled guys from Ireland .

And the Greasy guys from France called the French Fries.

And when she went out West, To watch out for the Indians so she
wouldn't get scalloped..

Yam said she would stay on the straight and narrow and wouldn't
associate with those high class Yukon Golds, or the ones from the other
side of the tracks who advertise their trade on all the trucks that
say, 'Frito Lay.'

Mr. And Mrs. Potato sent Yam to Idaho P.U. (that's Potato University )
so that when she graduated she'd really be in the Chips.

But in spite of all they did for her, one-day Yam came home And
announced she was going to marry Tom Brokaw.

Tom Brokaw!

Mr and Mrs. Potato were very upset.

They told yam she couldn't possibly marry Tom Brokaw because he's
just.......

Those dirty China Commies are causing global cooling

Or, at the least, stopping global warming.

Yeah. Really. Now pay attention and follow me on this. Let's set the stage.

There is no statistically significant warming trend since November of 1996 in monthly surface temperature records compiled at the University of East Anglia. Do we now understand why there’s been no change in fourteen and a half years?

Now since we all know that global warming was caused by man, then the cooling has to the fault of man.

If you read the news stories surrounding a recent paper in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences by Boston University’s Robert Kaufmann and three colleagues, you’d say yes, indeed. It’s China’s fault. By dramatically increasing their combustion of coal, they have increased the concentration of fine particles in the atmosphere called sulphate aerosols, which reflect away solar radiation, countering the warming that should be occurring from increasing atmospheric carbon dioxide.

Now, what should we do??? Attack China? Noooooooooooooooo. We need to buy more stuff from Walmart!

Further, if this is true, then (as is usual in climate-world), “it’s worse than we thought.” After all, China will eventually reduce their sulfate emissions as their population becomes affluent enough to demand something better than miasmic air. Indeed, they are already beginning to clean things up, and when they finally do, all the cooling particles will be gone and the earth will warm substantially.

Of course what the hoaxers and controllers tell us is that we must prepare for this to happen.

No wonder the general public is rejecting this crap.

Sometimes you don't want to know

Three women die together in an accident
And go to heaven.

When they get there, St. Peter says,
'We only have one rule here in heaven:
Don't step on the ducks!'

So they enter heaven, and sure enough,
There are ducks all over the place.
It is almost impossible not to step on a duck,
And although they try their best to avoid them,
The first woman accidentally steps on one.

Along comes St. Peter with the ugliest man she ever saw.
St. Peter chains them together and says,
'Your punishment for stepping on a duck is to
Spend eternity chained to this ugly man!'

The next day,
The second woman steps accidentally on a duck
And along comes St. Peter,
Who doesn't miss a thing.
With him is another extremely ugly man.
He chains them together
With the same admonishment as for the first woman.

The third woman has observed all this and,
Not wanting to be chained
For all eternity to an ugly man, is very,
VERY careful where she steps.

She manages to go months
Without stepping on any ducks,
But
One day St.Peter comes up to her
With the most handsome man she has ever laid eyes on
.... Very tall, long eyelashes, muscular.

St. Peter chains them together without saying a word.

The happy woman says,
'I wonder what I did to deserve being
Chained to you for all of eternity?'

The guy says,
'I don't know about you,
But I stepped on a Duck.

Iran attacks in Iraq

This what happens when your President tells our enemies when he will bring our troops home.

And yeah, I know the difference between Afghanistan and Iraq but stop and think of what Iran heard.

"Hey, we can do what we want!"

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iranian Revolutionary Guard forces have taken control of three bases of an Iranian Kurdish opposition group in neighboring Iraq, the state news agency reported Monday.

IRNA quoted Colonel Delavar Ranjbarzadeh, a local commander of the powerful Revolutionary Guard, as saying "a large number" of members of the Iranian Kurdish opposition group PEJAK have been killed in fierce clashes over the past two days. The clashes are still ongoing.

VO 67 Mud River

The following was sent to me by an old friend, Dave T. I had never heard of it. Not even a rumor, which normally exist whenever "top secret operations" are on going. And it even escaped the prying eyes of the media who have no respect for secret operations or how many people die because of their "scoop."

The P2V Neptune, also known in the Navy as the SP2H, replaced the P5M Marlin in many patrol squadrons although the P5M did hang on for a while doing coast patrol duty during Vietnam.

The P5M was a huge target and I had a friend who was shot down in the China Sea and lived to tell about it. He was in an open raft for over a week. According to him an escape/evasion manuever was to get so low over the water that the air disturbance would create a wake that the MIG's fire control radar could lock on and thus miss the aircraft. Must not have worked at least one time.

But I digress.

The Navy's Observation Squadron Sixty-Seven (VO-67) existed for just a little over a year, a total of 500 days, from February 1967 to July 1968. The "Observation" in the name is meaningless. It hid, at the time, what was a highly classified mission. The "67" stood for the year it came into being. VO-67 was a vital part of project Muscle Shoals. The mission of the project was to detect, classify, hinder and penalize the North Vietnamese Army infiltration into the South. Steel Tiger was the code name for the Ho Chi Minh trail in Laos. IGLOO WHITE was the code-name for the technologies associated with the project located at NKP and operated by USAF Task Force Alpha.

snip

Like the P5, the Neptune was slow. But, like the wake to fool the fire control of the MIGS:

The concept of the VO-67 mission was not totally unique. As Navy ASW crews search for and track submarines in our world's oceans, VO-67 would search the sea of green jungle in Laos and Vietnam for truck and troop movements south along the famous "Ho Chi Minh Trail". The dangerous air space above the trail, "The Hard Air", that place where death lingered will remain etched in the minds of all who served there. The trail was regarded as one of the most heavily defended areas in the Vietnam War. Many 37 and 57mm radar controlled AAA guns and small arms awaited the slow lumbering OP-2E Neptune's as they made there long straight line run in to implant the coded sensors. ..... At times approaching the target area at 50 feet above the terrain then popping up to 500 feet just before the target, implant sensors, and then a max-power jinking clime out. VO-67 was also the only aircraft squadron, of any service, to use the famous Norden Bombsight during the Vietnam War

snip

Estimates of 75% loss of VO-67 Aircraft and combat crews by planners fortunately did not occur. Thanks to the Air Force FAC Pilots training and intelligence reports only 3 aircraft and 20 crewmembers were lost

Oh, really?????

ecopolitologyrecently posted that Obama had created more jobs in 2010 than Bush had created in 8 years. He even has a chart supplied from the Office of the Democratic Leader, Dingy Harry. You can view the chart by linking to the site.

Now, it’s hard to read, but the left side of the chart shows the Bush years 2001 to 2008. Uniformly it shows the jobs lost. Of course it doesn’t show the jobs created, I guess that would be unfair. But as a person who once had Engineer on his business card, I’m trying hard to figure out how we could have all these low unemployment numbers if we created fewer jobs than were lost. Especially since 4%-5% is considered full employment.

To be fair, or more likely to cloud the issue, he shows the jobs lost in Obama’s first year, 2009. He then shows 2010 as gains, but none of the losses. That can’t be correct because we were hovering around 9%.
Let's look at the article in some depth...

and another that "wind and solar energy generate 40 percent more jobs per dollar invested."

Now, what does that actually mean?? What type of jobs? What do the jobs pay? Installing solar panels is labor intensive but mostly grunt type work so the pay is low and the number of workers higher. Building a steam powered coal plant requires more engineering, more "knowledge" workers so the pay is higher but the number of workers fewer.

Here's another one…… (the)
0.4% drop in the unemployment rate in December from 9.8% to 9.4% "was the steepest one-month fall since 1998."

Yes, 1998, when Clinton was president.

So???? The important facts to those unemployed are that under the Demos unemployment had risen from a Repub low of around 4.5% to 9.8% under the Demos. Was a .4% drop nice? Yes. Meaningful? No. And especially since the drop stalled and unemployment has now increased.

Now, we have another example.

A recent report by the Political Economy Research Institute at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, “Estimating the Employment Impacts of Pedestrian, Bicycle, and Road Infrastructure,” finds bicycle and pedestrian projects create about twice as many jobs as road projects per dollar spent.

Again, so???? Building highways for motor vehicle traffic designed to last for 40 years is expensive and it requires the use of large earth moving equipment. So the number of workers is low. Building bicycle and pedestrian paths is very much more labor intensive... you don't use a bulldozer to build a walking path so the number of "jobs" is naturally greater.

Now, let's close with the base claim:

If you haven't heard yet, new data out by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show that in 2010 the economy saw an increase of 1.1 million jobs. But what is a number like that without a reference point, right? Turns out that if you look back at the same stats over the past decade, you can see that is more than the total number of jobs created in Bush's 8 years as president.

What the chart, supplied by the Demos leader's office, shows is the jobs lost under Bush in 2008. Naturally as the country fell into the Dimicrap recession caused by their housing and energy policy, jobs were lost. The unemployment rate went up from around 4% to around 7.5%. The article's author then ignores the jobs lost in 2009... and says that in 2010 Obamie created more jobs than Bush did in 8 years.

Let me explain that in terms that you may be able to understand.

Your friend George goes to a casino for 7 straight days. Every day he wins $1000 for a total of $7000. On the 8th day he loses $7000. Question. How much has he won? Answer is, zero.

Now you take his place and at the end of the next day (12 months) you have lost $2000.

Now you continue to go and at the end of the next day (12 months) you have won $1100.

Results:

George - Broke even.

You - Lost $900.

No charge for the education.
