Somali suicide bomber given decent burial in Minnesota
Posted by acorcoran on December 4, 2008

A reminder Dec. 5th: A reader has just reminded me to tell new readers that as many as 80% of the Somali refugees entering the US may have done so illegally, here.

Update: Somali men missing all over the world tonight.

You gotta be kidding! This guy, 27 years old, blows himself to bits and takes along 29 other people (I bet there were women and kids among those killed) and our FBI scoops up the body parts and brings them to Minnesota for a funeral. I wonder what that cost the US taxpayer? Have we gone completely around the bend?

And then, would reporters find someone other than Omar Jamal to speak for the Somalis. Jamal was found guilty in 2003 of immigration fraud and ordered deported. Hat tip: Blulitespecial.

Family and friends did not wish to talk about the circumstances of his death.

Community activist Omar Jamal is one of the few who will.

“Honestly I look at him seriously as a victim and not as a criminal, I think of him as a young victim,” says Jamal.

A victim? The killer was a victim? He was 27 years old, not 17. Jamal, that doesn’t make him a ”kid!” If the killer is the victim, what does that make the 29 people he murdered? Aren’t they the real victims?

Nobody made this 27-year-old American citizen go to Somalia. This is just infuriating. Stop all Muslim immigration to the US or we will be seeing more decent burials for American suicide bombers.

See the story and especially the video of the funeral here.

Hat tip to Diana West.

Guns and guns

You can blame Mike L for this.

The purpose of fighting is to win.

The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either.. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental.

1. Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you.

2. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

3. I carry a gun cause a cop is too heavy.

4. When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away.

5. A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers. The reporter recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and ask ed him 'Why do you carry a 45?' The Ranger responded, 'Because they don't make a 46.

It has been my experience that most people with a pistol are hazardous only to themselves and innocent bystanders. Plus the smaller versions have been known to only kill someone after they have been shot six or seven times and then only hours later. I don't plan on shooting anyone, but if I ever feel I have to I want to do a complete and thorough job. Shotguns require no particular expertise to hit something, that is with buck shot, and the pump version requires a definitive action to chamber a round which also produces an attention getting sound. So this is my favorite:

6. The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented on his wearing his sidearm. 'Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you expecting trouble?' 'No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my shotgun.'

7. Beware the man who only has one gun. HE PROBABLY KNOWS HOW TO USE IT!!!

But wait, there's more!

I was once asked by a lady visiting if I had a gun in the house. I said I did. She said 'Well I certainly hope it isn't loaded!' To which I said, of course it is loaded, can't work without bullets!' She then asked, 'Are you that afraid of someone evil coming into your house?' My reply was, 'No not at all. I am not afraid of the house catching fire either, but I have fire extinguishers around, and they are all loaded too.' To which I'll add, having a gun in the house that isn't loaded is like having a car in the garage without gas in the tank.

Introduction of STD in England

I doubt that many of you will be reading TelecomTV news so I give you this information on the introduction of STD into Great Britain. The writer, who most likely is English, seems unaware of the difference between US STD's and English STD.

But then any country who drinks their beer at room temperature, which isn't too bad since room temperature in most English pubs I have visited was around 40 degrees F, drive on the wrong side of the road and invented "round abouts," needs to be watched with a measured and careful stare.

(Don't go postal on me dear cousins, I am in fact a huge fan of all things English except your demonstrated desire to turn your country into a Islamic theocracy.)

So, to the first. Back on December 5, 1958 the inaugural British phone call to be made without the intervention of an operator sat there in an exchange and physically competing the switching and connection was made when Queen Elizabeth II inaugurated STD - Subscriber Trunk Dialing.

It happened in the main exchange of the venerable West Country city of Bristol when the Queen made an STD call directly to the Lord Provost of Edinburgh, Scotland. At a distance of somewhere over the 300 mile mark, the call covered that greatest distance that was then available with the new technology.

The call began with the sovereign saying, "Hello, This is the Queen speaking from Bristol. Good Afternoon, my Lord Provost." The thoroughly stilted and artificial conversation lasted for two minutes and five seconds and yes, the Queen actually did do the dialing all on her own and without a body double.

Global cooling

We had a cold spring in 2007 and again this year. Replanting and reduced yields hurt my garden and we had to decide whether to purchase some veggies for canning and freezing or just not do it. Fall has come early and we have had numerous days where the temperatures are below average.

Yet the idiots and politicians, in most cases you can't tell the difference, continue to tell us man made global warming is a problem. Well, guess again, booboos!

No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.

A compiled list of all the sources can be seen here. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C -- a value large enough to wipe out most of the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year's time. For all four sources, it's the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down.

The scary part is this.

Let's hope those factors stop fast. Cold is more damaging than heat. The mean temperature of the planet is about 54 degrees. Humans -- and most of the crops and animals we depend on -- prefer a temperature closer to 70.

Historically, the warm periods such as the Medieval Climate Optimum were beneficial for civilization. Corresponding cooling events such as the Little Ice Age, though, were uniformly bad news.

Could some of ypou Lefties....please explain why Rendell's comments are sexist?

Dec. 3) - A note to all politicians: if you're speaking next to a microphone, be careful what you say. Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell may wish he thought about that while he was having a conversation near the lectern at the National Governors Conference in Philadelphia Tuesday.

In video obtained by CNN, Rendell was discussing Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano -- President-elect Barack Obama's choice to lead the Homeland Security Department -- and said she has excellent qualifications for the job since she "has no family."
"Janet's perfect for that job. Because for that job, you have to have no life. Janet has no family. Perfect. She can devote, literally, 19-20 hours a day to it," said Rendell, whose comments were picked up by the open mic.

I mean, can we talk? Aren't we taking this stuff a bit far?

And isn't this a perfect example of why CNN is not worth watching if you are even half way rational?

Rendell apologized for the comments Wednesday and said, "What I meant is that Janet is a person who works 24/7, just like me." But in a commentary the night before, CNN's Campbell Brown admonishes Rendell. Watch the video, below.

Rehab for GITMO prisoners.

In the interest of being more serious, now that I have entered my second year and all, I pass along this one I received from Grant M.

THE LARK PROGRAM

A Lady wrote a lot of letters to the White House complaining about the treatment of a captive insurgent (terrorist) being held in Guantanamo Bay.

She received back the following reply:
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
Washington, D.C. 20016

Dear Concerned Citizen,
Thank you for your recent letter roundly criticizing our treatment of the Taliban and Al Quada detainees currently being held at Guantanamo Bay,Cuba. Our administration takes these matters seriously and your opinion was heard loud and clear here in Washington.

You'll be pleased to learn that, thanks to the concerns of citizens like yourself, we are creating a new division of the Terrorist Retraining Program, to be called the "Liberals Accept Responsibility for Killers" program, or LARK for short.
In accordance with the guidelines of this new program, we have decided to place one terrorist under your personal care.
Your personal detainee has been selected and scheduled for transportation under heavily armed guard to your residence next Monday.
Ali Mohammed Ahmed bin Mahmud (you can just call him Ahmed) is to be cared for pursuant to the standards you personally demanded in your letter of complaint. It will likely be necessary for you to hire some assistant caretakers.
We will conduct weekly inspections to ensure that your standards of care for Ahmed are commensurate with those you so strongly recommended in your letter. Although Ahmed is a sociopath and extremely violent, we hope that your sensitivity to what you described as his attitudinal problem" will help him overcome these character flaws. Perhaps you are correct in describing these problems as mere cultural differences. We understand that you plan to offer counseling and home schooling.

Your adopted terrorist is extremely proficient in hand-to-hand combat and can extinguish human life with such simple items as a pencil or nail clippers. We advise that you do not ask him to demonstrate these skills at your next yoga group. He is also expert at making a wide variety of explosive devices from common household products, so you may wish to keep those items locked up, unless (in your opinion) this might offend him. Ahmed will not wish to interact with you or your daughters (except sexually), since he views all females as a subhuman form of property. This is a particularly sensitive subject for him and he has been known to show violent tendencies around women who fail to comply with the new dress code that he will recommend as more appropriate attire.
I'm sure you will come to enjoy the anonymity offered by the burka — over time.
Just remember that it is all part of "respecting his culture and his religious beliefs". Wasn't that how you put it?

Thanks again for your letter. We truly appreciate it when folks like you keep us informed of the proper way to do our job. You take good care of Ahmed - and remember, we'll be watching.

P.S. Please send this email to the Office of The President Elect.

Good luck!
Cordially, your friend,
GEORGE W. BUSH
