It appears that the Demos have decided to throw the voters of FL and MI under the bus, making their claims of "every vote must count" a poster child for hypocrisy.
Well, it isn't working as well as they wish. Of course race always trumps gender with the Left so I don't think anyone is surprised, just as a wife isn't surprised to get the hard facts after finding lipstick on hubby's collar.
But like the wife who has remained faithful all those years, this particular Democrat is pissed and is saying a divorce is on the way."
Watch the video. It is truly a sad and gripping expose. And, at the very end, don't miss the laughter by someone in the media. You know, they don't get it and won't get it.

Politicial correctness
About political correctness...
The following is the 2007 winning entry from an annual contest at Texas A&M University calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term. This year's term was 'Political Correctness'.
The winner wrote:
"Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."
My thanks to Mike L!
Promises Promises
SUSAN SARANDON, who appeared in three films last year and won kudos for her TV movie "Bernard and Doris," is still not a contented soul. She says if John McCain gets elected, she will move to Italy or Canada. She adds, "It's a critical time, but I have faith in the American people."
We should be so fortunate.
Anyone know the Vegas odds of this happening?

Redneck Seafood Dinner
Let every vote count!!!... err make that half...
This from TalkLeft.
Hey, works for me!
Wonder how much play this will get on the MSM. My guess is not even half...
In today's conference call, the Clinton campaign conceded any rules-based or fairness-based argument for the full seating of the Florida and Michigan delegations. The Clinton campaign declared that, unlike Iowa, NH and South Carolina, Florida and Michigan did indeed break the DNC rules and without justification..;..
.....It seems to me that the obvious response by the RBC is to rely on its staff memo which says it can only restore half of the delegates, and that to honor the voters of Florida and Michigan, it will magnaminously do so.
Hey, works for me!

Democrats never change.
This article shows that their agenda has been no drilling, and it has not changed as the country suffers.
And I love this.
Bemoaning the fate of the porcupine caribou resident in ANWR, New York's junior senator said the solution to "$65-a-barrel oil" was not increasing domestic petroleum output but instead devising alternative fuels. "The answer to our energy challenge does not lie under the plains of the arctic refuge," she said, "but in the minds that are ingenious in America."
Evidently the lawyers and environmental wackos' minds aren't "ingenious" because the problem remains. In fact, it has gottem much worse.
But we should remember these are the people and their children who, during their Vietnam demonstration dasys, opined that "Food is." I have always thought that defined them better than anything else. They believe it is their right to be supported by the rest of us while telling the rest of us what to do!
As for the Demos, you gotta love this:
Did you ever stop and think that the country is in big trouble and here we have Clinton and Kennedy associating with such as these?
FDR, Truman, JFK... they all must be spinning in their graves.
WASHINGTON September 21 2005 - Over the din of beating tom-toms, surrounded by activists wearing antlers and dressed as polar and grizzly bears, Senator Clinton yesterday dismissed high gas prices and the destruction wrought by Hurricane Katrina as a "diversion," cautioning that proponents of arctic drilling were exploiting recent crises to make their case for a long-term anti-environment agenda.
And I love this.

Stupid statements
abound in this world, and telling me that $4.00 gas is cheap is at the top of the list.
So what. In 1922 the country was basically an agriculture based economy and both husband and wife didn't drive 20 miles one way to get to work.
I don't believe that China's consumption jumped 16.5% in three months. That would be almost impossible. Did it increase some? Probably.
That's a fancy and misleading way of saying that a 1976 car cost about $5-$6K and 2006 model hit about $26K. The author must never have taken a logic or math course.
People stupid enough to believe in GW will probably cheer anything they are told to cheer. The rest of us see it as what it is. A huge transfer of wealth from the west to the OPEC countries.
Catch a clue. We don't live in "other countries." And if I wanted to pay $8.00 a gallon I would move to France, or some other God forbidden place.
You should also remember that the "other countries" are geographically small as compared to the US and because of this have a more developed public transportation system. Re size - Germany is just slightly larger than one of our smaller states Wisconsin..
Real men don't drink venti latte and you don't own beer, you merely rent it for a while...And neither will work in my car.
Tell that to Joe and Jane Sixpack who make around $70K combined and have carefully budgeted their gasoline costs at $150 per month.
You see, it doesn't matter what things use to cost. What matters is what things were expected to cost. The latter is no problem. The failure of the expectation is spelled, "bankruptacy."
After reading this article I know why I don't sub to Slate. Its intelligence level is not up to mine.
When measured on an inflation-adjusted basis, the current price of gasoline is only slightly higher than it was in 1922. According to the Energy Information Administration, in 1922, gasoline cost the current-day equivalent of $3.11. Today, according to the EIA, gasoline is selling for about $3.77 per gallon, only about 20 percent more than 86 years ago.
So what. In 1922 the country was basically an agriculture based economy and both husband and wife didn't drive 20 miles one way to get to work.
Given the ever-increasing global demand for oil products—during the first quarter of this year, China's oil consumption jumped by 16.5 percent—and the increasing costs associated with finding, producing, and refining crude oil, it makes sense that today's motorists are paying more for their motor fuel than their grandparents and great-grandparents did.
I don't believe that China's consumption jumped 16.5% in three months. That would be almost impossible. Did it increase some? Probably.
Gasoline is also a fairly minor expense when you consider the overall cost of car ownership. In 1975, gasoline made up 33.4 percent of the total cost of owning and operating a car. By 2006, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, gasoline costs had declined to just 17.1 percent of the total cost of car ownership
That's a fancy and misleading way of saying that a 1976 car cost about $5-$6K and 2006 model hit about $26K. The author must never have taken a logic or math course.
On the environmental front, people concerned about greenhouse-gas emissions should be cheering today's oil prices.
People stupid enough to believe in GW will probably cheer anything they are told to cheer. The rest of us see it as what it is. A huge transfer of wealth from the west to the OPEC countries.
American gasoline is also dirt-cheap compared with gas in other countries.
(Gasoline is also cheap compared with other essential fuels. A Starbucks venti latte costs the equivalent of $23 per gallon, while Budweiser beer runs $11 per gallon.)
Real men don't drink venti latte and you don't own beer, you merely rent it for a while...And neither will work in my car.
The simple truth is that Americans are going to have to get used to more expensive gasoline. And while they may continue grumbling at the pump, they need to accept the fact that even at $3.50 or $4 per gallon, the fuel they are buying is still a bargain.

Moonbat! Moonbat!
Did you ever wonder where the word used to describe our Leftie friends came from?
My thanks to the always interesting, and authoritative UrgentAgenda.
Perhaps someone can now tell us about "Wingnuts." Heaven knows people calling each other "Moonbat" and "Wingnut" add so much to Western civilization and culture...
Pass the koolaid, darling. All this heavy typing raises a thirst.
6:35 p.m. There is a far-left columnist name George Monbiot, and it's widely believed that his name gave rise to the term "moonbat." He tried to make a citizen's arrest of John Bolton in England after our former UN ambassador gave a speech at a literary festival. Security guards blocked the arrest. Apparently, Mr. Monbiot believes Mr. Bolton to be a war criminal, no better than the Nazis. Monbiot's feelings about Osama bin Laden or Saddam Hussein were not immediately apparent.

Speaking of Working Overtime...
Finally purchased a MPEG player and Bose headset.... loaded over 400 songs on it...all golden oldies.... Amazing.... over 400 songs and you can understand every word of them..... Well, almost every... Most Yankees couldn't understand Elvis.. which contributed to his popularity... They all thought he was saying, "I got something in my pants...."
Now I can listen to such classics as "Call me"..... "Speedo"..... "They all can call me Speedo but my real name is Mr. Earl......" Such depth...
And then there was "Little Darling"..... Did anyone ever write, "Big Beautiful Woman Darling?" Of course not. But then that was before the Internet...
The wet cool weather continues. The woods around the palatial retirement compound are a dark green and all of the grass and trees are so full of moisture they look like they will pop if touched. The resident two deer come out on the lower side every late afternoon for a drink and a casual measuring look at me kicked back on the deck enjoying them.... I think they know I am a meat eater, but too lazy and too unstressed in the protein supply to bother them. But based on the actions of the stock market and the price of oil...someone should advise them to exercise caution.
I have read a few comments in a few blogs that say that MSNBC and NBC are pro Hussein... Ah, the insight of the Internet astounds me..
Was it "Hardball's" Chris Matthews saying of Hussein, "He sends a tingle up my leg" that tipped them off? Perhaps. I mean Matthews was speaking of his political leg.... wasn't he??
I heard this during my last trip to LA at a poker table.
Little Blind had just called and Big Blind raised. The action was heads up.
Big Blind said as Little Blind agonized over what to do. "I raised with Big Slick. Without stretching my brain I can think of 4 things that can happen on the flop. Three of them are good for me, one good for you... Please call..."
He got his wish and won a fair sized pot. Even when they are told the dummies won't leave...
Hillary has mailed a letter and 12 page treatise as seen here explaining why she's the one. She fails to remember that, as Chris Matthews showed, logic can never overcome love.
This from BizzBlog who continues to do masterful work in showing the deception and utter nonsense of the MSM.
Only 47.6%. The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

With all the hype about the home-price plunge,......Prices nationwide were 3.1% lower than they were a year ago.....WITH the decrease during the last four quarters, that’s 47.6% appreciation in seven years.
Only 47.6%. The sky is falling! The sky is falling!
....Appreciation during the seven years that ended on March 31, 2001, almost all of it before George Bush took office and started ruining everything (/sarc), was 36.3%

Well some Muslims hang gays
At least all this one is doing is threatening to sue about a transgender person.
"...."That man accused us of being racist, yet his attitude towards Emma showed prejudice of the very worst kind....."
Uh, read any newspapers? Internet?? No? Why am I not surprised??
A sex swap instructor at an all-female driving school was left devastated when the Sheffield husband of one of her pupils threatened to sue her firm – for sending a man to teach his Muslim wife.
Emma Sherdley – formerly a married dad of two called Andrew but now legally a woman – […] has a birth certificate and a "gender recognition certificate" to prove her legal status as a woman […]. She is being backed by her boss, Laugh n Pass owner Joanne Dixon, who says the man had called her to accuse the firm of sending a man disguised as a woman because he was a Muslim. […]
"That man accused us of being racist, yet his attitude towards Emma showed prejudice of the very worst kind. […] He was saying, 'You have sent me a man, send me a proper female, how dare you send a man with a deep voice'. Then he claimed we had deliberately sent a man disguised as a woman because he was a Muslim. […]
Emma says the outburst had made her seriously consider quitting her job. But she says Joanne's support has made her determined to ride out the storm and carry on with her career.

There will always be an England.
Not bloody likely if this keeps up.
The cop would fit right in with Hussein..
A few days ago (Friday, May 23rd) 18 year-old Ben Smith was stopped, in a routine check by a police officer, while driving his Vauxhall Corsa to his home in Melksham, Wiltshire. The officer found nothing amiss, but noticed an England flag on the parcel shelf (which Mr. Smith used to cover his music system from potential thieves) and ordered him to remove it. According to Smith:
"He saw the flag and said it was racist towards immigrants and if I refused to take it down I would get a £30 fine. I laughed because I thought he was joking, but then I realized he was serious so I had to take it down straight away. I thought it was silly – it's my country and I want to show my support for my country."
This is merely the latest in a long line of such “politically correct” discrimination on the part of England’s authorities or its employees. In January 2007, a 27 year old man was ordered by Bedford Council to take down an England flag, that he had hung on the side of his house. In 2006 a fire station was ordered to remove an England flag, because, they were told, it might offend ethnic minorities (despite the local mosque protesting that it did not), and earlier this year a government report revealed that children were routinely punished for wearing clothing bearing the English flag.
But, then, ‘England’ is a subversive idea to a government that wants to hold the United Kingdom (UK) together, to sink it into the homogenizing machine of the European Union (EU). And ‘England’ and English nationalism are anathema to political correctness.
The cop would fit right in with Hussein..
Nice work if you can get it

Nothing has changed.
Now, even as El Aroud remains under constant surveillance, she is back home rallying militants on her Web site -- and collecting more than $1,100 a month in government unemployment benefits. "Her jihad is not to lead an operation but to inspire other people to wage jihad," said Glenn Audenaert, the director of Belgium's federal police force. "She enjoys the protection that Belgium offers. At the same time, she is a potential threat."

Losing the peace
Years ago a wise man asked me what I enjoyed about playing poker.
"Winning!" I immediately replied. "Winning what?" he asked. "Money? Well, that doesn't happen all the time. Socializing with people? Some are bums you wouldn't be seen with. Killing time? Now that would be a true waste..."
I walked away with a headache and a grumpy feeling that I had learned something if I could just understand it.
Years later I understood that to win something we must know what it is we want to win, be it money, entertainment or a war.
The war I refer to is the War On Terror. Some have called it WWIV. Some have called it a cultural war... But few have defined what it is we want to win.
If you want to define winning peace, well peace is an absence of war. All we have to do is give up and we will have "won." So don't we need a better definition of what we want from the billions spent and thousands dead?? And if we achieve peace in which our culture and laws are changed to accommodate a religion and culture that we do not agree with, is that a "win?" Haven't we actually lost?
These thoughts came to me after I had read this piece in the WSJ, "Homeland Security Newspeak."
All of that is past the nonsense line, but consider this. The people they are using to decide the content are various Muslim "leaders."
So what are fighting for if we are not to change the opposition? If it is to have Islamic schools paid for with tax payer dollars, why treble the cost by opposing al-Qaida? If it is to not disapprove "honor killings," why even claim that we are a secular society?
An ironic saying that I heard for years was, "America has never lost a war or won a peace."
It looks like we are on track to set a new record.

These thoughts came to me after I had read this piece in the WSJ, "Homeland Security Newspeak."
In "1984," George Orwell famously created Newspeak, "the only language in the world whose vocabulary gets smaller every year." How things haven't changed. The Homeland Security memo begins by declaring that "Words matter," whereupon it proceeds to suggest that some words matter so much it's best not to use them at all. Instead, the memo proposes a "strategic terminology" to dictate the utterances of public officials regarding the so-called Global Struggle.
In the new dispensation, much of which has reportedly been adopted by the State Department, using the word Islamic is out because it potentially "[concedes] the terrorists' claims that they are legitimate adherents of Islam." Use of the word jihad is said to "glamorize terrorism." Islamist – a neutral and broadly accepted term for those who espouse Islam as a political system – is frowned upon because "the general public . . . may not appreciate the academic distinction between Islamism and Islam." Using the word Salafism, the religious variant of Islam espoused by al Qaeda, may have the unfortunate effect of demonizing those Salafists who aren't violent. The term moderate Muslims may include those who aren't religiously observant, and thus offend those Muslims who are. "Mainstream Muslim" is supposedly better.
All of that is past the nonsense line, but consider this. The people they are using to decide the content are various Muslim "leaders."
The inanity here is so mind-boggling that it seems almost deliberate, and causes one to wonder just which "American Muslim leaders" the U.S. government is consulting. Last October, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff was a guest of honor at a Ramadan event at which, according to one participant, he was publicly thanked by the president of the Islamic Society of North America for "keeping the doors open so we can advise you on how to engage the Muslim world."
For the record, the ISNA was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the case of the Holy Land Foundation, a U.S.-based charity alleged to have had ties with Hamas. Imagine if the Kennedy administration had consulted with the Workers World Party on strategies to contain the Soviet Union, and you get a sense of what Homeland Security is doing today.
So what are fighting for if we are not to change the opposition? If it is to have Islamic schools paid for with tax payer dollars, why treble the cost by opposing al-Qaida? If it is to not disapprove "honor killings," why even claim that we are a secular society?

The inventor of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, Arthur Davidson, died and went to Heaven. At the gates, St. Peter told Arthur, "Since you've been such a good man and your motorcycles have changed the world, your reward is that you can hang out with anyone you want to in heaven."
Arthur thought about it for a minute and then said, "I want to hang out with God."
St. Peter took Arthur to the Throne Room, and introduced him to God. God recognized Arthur and commented, "Okay, so you were the one who Invented the Harley-Davidson motorcycle? "
Arthur said, "Yeah, that's me..."
God answered: "Well, what's the big deal in inventing something that's pretty unstable, makes noise and pollution and can't run without a road?"
Arthur was apparently embarrassed, but finally spoke, "Excuse me, but aren't you the inventor of woman?"
God said, " Ah, yes."
"Well ," said Arthur, "professional to professional, you have some major design flaws in your invention:
1. There's too much inconsistency in the front-end protrusion
2. It chatters constantly at high speeds
3. Most rear ends are too soft and wobble too much
4. The intake is placed way too close to the exhaust
5. The maintenance costs are outrageous!!!!
"Hmmmmm, you may have some good points there," replied God, "hold on."
God went to his Celestial supercomputer, typed in a few words and waited for the results. The computer printed out a slip of paper and God read it.
"Well, it may be true that my invention is flawed," God said to Arthur, "but according
to these numbers, more men are riding my invention than yours."

Maybe you've seen these, maybe not. My thanks to Jimmy!

William Katz, who remains one of the best writers in the blogosphere, notes the following in Snippets in his blog, Urgent Agenda. and asks an important question.
The answer is pretty simple. First, the schools he attended didn't teach much about WWII outside of condemning the US for ending it with nuclear attacks.
So the events are really fuzzy in his mind, mixed in with claims that they never happened and the various condemnations of Israel.
His confusion is a cultural thing. Just as he didn't understand that as President his refusal to wear a US flag pin would insult millions of Americans who are represented by him, and send the wrong message to our enemies.
Who you associate with counts. If you associate with William Ayers and the Rev. Wright, that's a clear signal that, at best, you have no real problems with what they say.
"I had a uncle who was one of the, who was part of the first American troops to go into Auschwitz..."
The Obama campaign later said that the candidate meant Buchenwald. I wonder how you get things like that mixed up.

Hussein corrects mistake.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrat Barack Obama admitted on Tuesday he was wrong to say his uncle helped liberate the Nazis' Auschwitz concentration camp after Republicans said Soviet troops freed the camp.
Obama's campaign said the candidate meant to say that his great-uncle, Charlie Payne, had helped liberate a part of the Buchenwald camp, not Auschwitz.
Okay, he misspoke. Again.
But the real issue is.... so what? He had an Uncle in WWII?
Wow. That settles the patriotism issue for me. Yessir. No doubt.
Why the sacrifices Hussein must have gone through for the country...
Oh.... Yeah... It was his Uncle who sacrificed...I wonder if he ever heard of the Sullivan brothers....

Of course they will. Being elite they know that they have the answers and that any who disagrees must be suppressed.
Nothing new in that, but it is nice to see someone who has experienced the actual domination of a fales religion pointing it out.
Klaus, an economist, said he opposed the "climate alarmism" perpetuated by environmentalism trying to impose their ideals, comparing it to the decades of communist rule he experienced growing up in Soviet-dominated Czechoslovakia.
"Like their (communist) predecessors, they will be certain that they have the right to sacrifice man and his freedom to make their idea reality," he said.
"In the past, it was in the name of the Marxists or of the proletariat - this time, in the name of the planet," he added.

They just don't get it
They, of course, is the Left. They don't render respect to the flag, they make complaints and comments that encourage the enemy, they demand that we surrender..
In short they whine and complain.
But a least you would think that a man who wants to be President would have a staff who knew what Memorial Day is about.
Memorial Day is to honor those who have died protecting us.
Not for those who served, although they deserve to be acknowledged. But for those who died.
There is a difference. Hussein should get a spokesman who understands that.
In short they whine and complain.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton declined to respond directly to McCain, saying only: "Senator Obama thinks Memorial Day is a day to honor our nation's veterans, not a day for political posturing."
Memorial Day is to honor those who have died protecting us.
Not for those who served, although they deserve to be acknowledged. But for those who died.
There is a difference. Hussein should get a spokesman who understands that.
An important question
"This is in our religion and nobody can force us to do anything against our religion," he said. "If the laws of the country conflict with Islamic law, if one goes against the other, then I am going to follow Islamic law, simple as that."
The above demonstrates the problems that Sharia law brings into the assimilation of Muslims into another culture. Simply put, some refuse to obey the law.
This obviously cannot be accepted, it appears the Canadians would like to ignore the problem, just as Minnesota is trying to ignore its school problem.
Islamic Reformation?
One of the most difficult things that anyone finds when seeking to understand Islam is the many "papers" that may, or may not, be part of the original faith, and if not, what part should they play?
Daniel Pipes has written:
If Islam is to live peacefully with the rest of the world then this must be accomplished at some point in time. But given the terrorists devotion to other aspects, and even "moderates" belief in such things as "honor killings," then it is difficult see this as an easy happening.
Indeed, just by remembering the problems of the Christian Reformation it is difficult to see this happening at all.
But we can hope.
Daniel Pipes has written:
Its unusually named ministry of religion, the "Presidency of Religious Affairs and the Religious Charitable Foundation," has undertaken a three-year "Hadith Project" systematically to review 162,000 hadith reports and winnow them down to some 10,000, with the goal of separating original Islam from the accretions of fourteen centuries.
The hadith reports contain information about the sayings and actions of Muhammad, the prophet of Islam. They augment the Koran and have had a major role in shaping the Shari‘a (Islamic law), thereby deeply influencing Muslim life. Despite their importance, Muslim reformers have devoted little scrutiny to them, due to their vast size, unwieldy nature, and the challenge of discerning "sound" from "weak" hadiths....
Mehmet Görmez, a senior lecturer in hadith at Ankara University and the vice-president of religious affairs, heads the "Hadith Project."
Mehmet Görmez, a senior lecturer in hadith at Ankara University and the vice-president of religious affairs, adds that the purpose is a scholarly one, to understand the hadith better: "We will make a new compilation of the hadith and re-interpret them if necessary." More broadly, Görmez explains, "The project takes its inspiration from the interpretations of the modernist vein of Islam. … We want to bring out the positive side of Islam that promotes personal honor, human rights, justice, morality, women's rights, respect for the other."
This means, for example, reinterpreting hadiths that "present women as
inferior beings," such as those that encourage female genital mutilation, honor killings, and the prohibition of women traveling without their husbands. One participant, Hidayet Sevkatlı Tuksal, goes so far as to declare some hadiths as bogus because they intend "to ensure male domination over women." However, despite the intense current debate in Turkey over the headscarf, the project avoids that particular issue. Another sensitive topic concerns the right of Muslims to convert out of their faith; the project permits such conversions.
If Islam is to live peacefully with the rest of the world then this must be accomplished at some point in time. But given the terrorists devotion to other aspects, and even "moderates" belief in such things as "honor killings," then it is difficult see this as an easy happening.

Are Democrats stupid?
Given that Democrats are not stupid, and given that their Masters, aka the Far Left, is not stupid, you just have to wonder why they oppose drilling for oil in the US. I mean it is obvious that the economy is going into the tank, and it is obvious that this won't be a short term problem if we don't do something to strengthen the dollar by taking the pressure off of it by buying non-OPEC oil.
So why are the doing this?
Some speculate that they believe that by depressing the economy they can win the election. So this isn't about "saving the planet" but electing Demos. I desperately hope that is wrong because that means we have a large number of totally despeciable polticians and their supporters.
I think it has to do with their belief that, as good elitists, they know what is best for the American people, and since the American people haven't embraced the proper life styles they intend to force them into it by keeping gasoline prices high. Hussein let the cat out of the bag here.
The problem is that if the economy continues to go south, people won't be able to replace their existing vehicles, so higher fuel prices will merely result in less and less dollars to be spent on things besides transportation and utilities.
Hussein obviously doesn't understand that with most us there is something called a "budget" that we have to live with.
Or perhaps he does, but doesn't care what pain his knuckle headed policies would cause the ordinary citizen. After all he clearly told what he sees for the future. No new technology. No new sources. Just less and less. Just as long as it makes the third world happy.
Are we electing a President, or a delegate to the United Nations?

Obama, an Illinois senator and the front-runner for his party's presidential nomination, has made fighting climate change a key issue of his campaign, and as fuel prices soar, he has repeatedly called on car makers to increase fuel efficiency standards.
Without specifically telling Americans to stop buying gas-guzzling sport utility vehicles, the Illinois senator said higher fuel prices would lead to a shift.
"We've seen that this quarter. People are changing their behavior and we've seen a slump in the sales of SUVs and big trucks and a drastic spike in cars both medium size and small," he told reporters on his campaign plane.

Crude oil at $200
Both sides lately have been fond of playing what I call the "worse/better than when us/you came into power.
The Democrats especially enjoy it because they can go back to 2001 and say:
"When George Bush took office oil was selling for about $20.00 a barrel. It broke $132.00 a barrel this week. That's a 650 percent increase."
And this is true enough. But let us look at the "rest of the story" as Paul Harvey says.
In the first six (6) years that Bush was President, with a Republican Congress, oil climbed from about $20 a barrel to about $55.00 a barrel. That is about a 270 per cent increase. Said another way that is a $35.00 barrel increase, or about .48 cents a month. Of course the increases weren't steady. There were increases and decreases as you expect any commodity market to have. But that's the rate of increase.
Now I cut the Republicans no slack for that. And even though they had no real hope of getting new drilling and new refinery construction going due the lack of a filibuster proof majority, they didn't really try. No bully pulpit. No demands for Congress to act. They didn't do squat.
Now some may say that Bush was defocused by the war and the Democrats opposition to the war, and that is why he didn't act, just as Clinton was said to be so defocused by Monicagate he didn't act to, as Clinton admitted, pick up bin Ladin when he could have. And while I see some small logic in both claims, I cut neither any slack. They're big boys and girls and have staffs and should be able to walk and chew bubblegum at the same time.
But the real question is, why, after the Democrats took control, did the price go from $55 to $132?? Let both sides admit to the facts. Oil at $55 a barrel was no particular problem. But now, with a solid Democratic Congress, we have a huge problem. A $132 a barrel problem. That is about a 240 per cent increase, or about $77in 15 months or about $5.13 a month. And the increase has been steady, no up and downs, just a linear $5.13 each month. Something you wouldn't expect in a commmodity market.
And yet the Demos "we don't give a shit" attitude continues. They compounded it two weeks ago by, again, turning down a Republican attempt to drill in ANWAR and off shore....
That was highly stupid. The country is being bled dry and the Democrats won't try to protect it. That is damnable at best.
But let's return to the question. Why did it take 6 years for oil to go up about 270 per cent, yet less than 15 months for it to go up 240 percent? That is a huge difference. The difference is in the rate of change. About 270% increase in 72 months under Bush and a Republican Congress. 240% in less than 15 months under a Democrat Congress. You are getting 2014 prices, today. The shock to the economy is terrible.
So what happened? Well, a theory. OPEC and the oil companies are not stupid. As long as Bush and the Republicans were in power, any real radical rate of change just might generate enough public out rage and heat that a bill could get passed to build refineries and start drilling to increase supply.
But. As soon as the Democrats took control of Congress there was absolutely no chance of that happening. And the results speak for themselves.
That anyone would even think about voting for a Demo is beyond me. Of course there are large numbers of stupid people in this world.

Porn in Calfornia and money
Oh, I don't know.....
Perhaps the assemblyman needs to get a better hand on his idea.
He could do research at that porn joint on Centruy Blvd near LAX that advertises, and has for years.... "Live Nude!"
I have never been tempted.. I mean...As opposed to what.. "Dead Nude!!!??" Hey, it's a stretch, but after all, it is Los Angeles........ Probably has Pet Rocks as bartenders...
LOS ANGELES - California state lawmakers are considering an unusual idea to solve the state's huge budget shortfall: Tax pornography......
The idea was proposed by a state assemblyman, and would impose a 25 percent tax on the production and sales of pornographic videos -- the vast majority of which are made in southern California....
However, many economists believe that pornography is an industry with inelastic demand....

Porn and Politics
Al Franken does his trick
but the Repubs never learn....In Democratic politics that is called resume enhancement.....
;-)
And my thanks to whoever I snitched that from..
Franken writes of sitting in a virtual sex machine and choosing his preferred setting, then describes and evaluates the act. Later, he investigates other parts of the fictional institute and participates in other sexual acts that he describes.
In the same article, Franken jokes about his 12-year-old son researching a report on bestiality and using the Internet “to download some effective visual aids.” He makes up fake statistics comparing Playboy readers with readers of Hustler magazine.

Hussein wants complete control
This is stupid. Highly stupid. But it wasn't Hillary.
It is stupid for us to not be standing up and saying, so??? Does Hussein's minions think that her mentioning it will spur any nut cases?? It is history, folks. This is just another attempt by Hussein to determine what will, and will not, be allowed to be said.
Hillary Clinton today brought up the assassination of Sen. Robert Kennedy while defending her decision to stay in the race against Barack Obama.
"My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it," she said, dismissing calls to drop out.
Obama's camp immediately fired back.
"Sen. Clinton's statement before the Argus Leader editorial board was unfortunate and has no place in this campaign," Obama campaign spokesman said in a statement.
Clinton made her comments at a meeting with the Sioux Falls Argus-Leader's editorial board while campaigning in South Dakota, where she complained that, "People have been trying to push me out of this ever since Iowa."
Obama, the first African-American to advance so far in the race for the White House, has faced threats, sources have said.

Global warming conflicted
If you are interested in Global Warming, read this.
And this is the most important thing you should know.
The GW warming argument is failing. In fact, Mr. Singer has split it in half.
Should we be making public policy based on what is conflicted and flawed science?
Surely not.
In its pamphlet, the Royal Society purports to speak on behalf of a consensus of scientists. But no such consensus exists. Direct polling of climate scientists has shown that about 30% are "skeptical" of anthropogenic global warming. More than 31,000 American scientists recently signed the Oregon Petition, which expresses doubt about the major conclusions of the IPCC, and opposes the drastic mitigation demands of the Kyoto Protocol and the proposed "cap-and-trade" legislation of the U.S. Congress.
And this is the most important thing you should know.
Mr. Singer, a professor emeritus of Environmental Sciences at the University of Virginia, is the former director of the U.S. Weather Satellite Service. As a reviewer of IPCC reports, he shares the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore. His most recent book is "Unstoppable Global Warming — Every 1500 Years."

USA Today editorial catoon comment
USA Today has this editorial cartoon by Joe Heller this morning. It shows a guy filling up his camper while overlooking a cemetery of tombstones named.. Iraq, Korea, etc. The caption says:
"I'm not going to complain about the high cost of anything this weekend."
And while I understand all too well that as you get closer to death many things get less important, I must say:
What pure BS.
My father and four uncles did not serve in WWII, nor did the other millions who served then and since then, including my ten years in Naval Aviation, to save the world so that thugs and dictators can rip off this country, and the world. What OPEC and world wide speculators are now doing is nothing less than a attack on us.
And that we have enabled them with stupid energy polices does not forgive what they are doing nor make it right.
As I write this there are elderly who are trying to figure out what medications they can do without to enable them to buy food and pay utility bills.
There are families world wide who can't afford a pound of rice because of the price increases.
And the future looks bleak.
Heller's cartoon speaks of death in war. Yet millions of those who died in WWII could have been spared if Chamberlain had not disgraced himself and England with "peace in our time" with Hitler, the French responded with vigor when Germany's troops first crossed the border, if we had done whatever we needed to do in Korea and Vietnam, taken our embassy back from the radicals in Iran and finished Desert Storm.
Simply put, you can't put rabbits in the cage with a boa constrictor. At some point the snake will eat the rabbit. It is what they do.
We have fed the snake for years. But now its appetite has grown larger and wants our dogs and cats. What comes next? Our old people and our children?
It is time for action. Not the false sympathy and misplaced sadness of Heller's cartoon.

Nationalize Oil
That's a frightening thought, eh?
Well, think about this.
China and India do that. Both have been shielding their industries and their citizens from the huge run ups in price caused by, mostly speculation not shortages.
Since we are in intense competition with these countries....been to WalMart lately?...their actions result in allowing their industries to be always lower in price.
This has a double whammy. It kills our economy, both consumer goods and manufacturing. The consumer has less money to spend so he travels less and buys fewer big ticket items. That's dollars that used to stay in the economy. And since he is stressed for cash, he will continue to go for the lowest prices, which aids China and the other SE manufacturers/countries.
Obviously there is a point where the sales volumes goes down for foreign produced goods, in a rational environment. Why? Because as our dollar weakens due to interest rate cuts, its value to the importers goes down. But, since the cost basis of the foreign manufacturers is protected by national price and supply control, the impact is not predictable. It is irrational. If our chemical companies are paying $130. for a barrel of oil, and China's is paying $40.00, they can't compete. BTW - Fertilizer is directly impacted by oil. So we are again impacted. Higher food prices hurts our consumers and hurts our farm exports. It also hurts our ethanol prices.
We are literally under attack. I can't tell you what the tipping point is, but in the last three days, at 10:07AM CDT, the market has run off about 460 points.
So we come back to nationalizing oil. Would it work? Well, price controls don't work in a free market. But nationalization would be different. As a whole we have immense bargaining power with OPEC. While our goal would be to tell OPEC we respect a fair price, of say, $80.00 a barrel, we are not going to accept gouging and are willing to take "various actions at various times" to insure our citizens' health and welfare." Let them figure out what that means.
Would it work? I don't know. But I do know that we are on the edge of a huge problem that could make 1929 look like a picnic. I also know that there is no reason why our lives should be so under control of the thugs and dictators whose only claim to anything is that they happened to be born "Kings" of oil.
The rights of Kings has been settled in the favor of democracies. Time to remind them of that.

Gays and the military
The 9th Court of Appeals has reversed a lower court and this issue is going back to court. I am cross posting this comment I made on TalkLeft.
Before I start let me note that I have commented many times on gay rights, including marriage and I am uncomfortable with the current "don't ask don't tell." Now to some thoughts.
Having spent 10 years in naval aviation long before "don't ask don't tell," I can tell you that no one cared what the sexual orientation of the other person outside of a few individuals. The issue was: Can the person do the job.
Believe it or not, the military is composed of fairly small units responding to orders of larger units. Squad to platoon to company, etc., in the army, similar in the Navy, Marines and Navy. This structure has not changed. The success or failure of these "fighting units" depend on many variables. But chief among them is absolute confidence in each other. I have seen crew members who could do the job rejected by the crew as a whole for, in some cases, no visible reasons. In the end, the person either becomes part of the group or must leave. Strangely enough, in many cases the individual recognizes this and asks for a change, and goes on to another group and many times succeeds.
In the ten years of my service I knew of about 11 individuals who I felt were gay. Of the 11, 2 were arrested off base for solicitation of homosexual sex, and two on base for consensual homosexual sex. All received undesirable discharges.
Of the other 7, and I would say there were others, there were no problems. Simply put, the standard was "don't ask, don't tell and don't get caught."
In reality that has not changed.
And in reality the issue is not a military problem but a societal problem. When gays are accepted with no exceptions as civilians, no problems will exist in the military. Unfortunately we aren't there yet.
Will forcing the issue in the military correct the problem?
I confess that I do not know. But I do know that if you take a group that is performing well and insert someone that the group doesn't accept then you have a group that will start to be less effective. This is not good in the civilian world. It is a formula for disaster in a military. And the reason does not matter.
In this life we all become engaged in trade offs. We join teams that demand we practice at certain times in certain places and that we do certain things as team members.
When you join the military you accept the rules. You have no "right" to join. Perhaps the individual should accept the rules and go forward with their life.
Perhaps it is time to the tell military that their rule is wrong. But let us understand something.
If you do you will not know what the results are until the next time the results must be equal to are better than they are now.
The current rules are hard on the individual, but the results are an outstanding military. Be careful what you ask for. You may not like what you get.

Wilson and Plame and logic
Blogs blogs, whose got the blogs? And the answer is, everyone. Not only shall we have our 15 minutes of fame, we'll have it on video on My Space and You Tube...
And not only that, every newspaper has Forums and the editorials are linked to letters and opinion has become "hot."
And what do we get? Mostly trash.
And I am not just talking about "Bush lied and soldiers died." I am talking about comments that are just so wrong that it boggles the mind to read them. People talk about the flooding of New Orleans during Katrnia without even knowing that the city is below sea level which meant that the breeches had to be fixed and then the water pumped out. Which made the task much more difficult than just letting the water run back into the river which is the usual way of flood recovery.
They claim that there was a conspiracy on 9/11 and that the steel building frames could not have failed when any number of experts have shown that to be wrong.
They buy into man made global warming when the weather sweetie can't forecast what will happen 72 hours out, and no one can explain why the Medieval Warming period exists since they had no cars....
In short, it appears that although we have more information available in the history of the world, the people who could use it have very little ability to separate facts from fiction and without that they become easy prey for the media, who in turn are easy prey because most of them have little training in science and logical thinking.
For an example, I remind you of the NYTimes article written by Joe Wilson when he made huge brough haha over Bush's statement that the British claimed that Iraq had tried to buy yellow cake from Niger in 1999. In fact, Bush was quoting the Brits, so if you want to make a point you have to allude to dark actions and lies. Now this is what Wilson wrote:
Okay fine. But what did write? Did he write that no meeting between Iraqi and Niger had taken place? No. He said that it was doubtful that any such "transaction" had ever taken place.
"Transaction" dear hearts refers to a sale. Not an offer, not an attempt, not discussions, but a sale. He further says:
What facts are in doubt? Bush said that there had been an attempt per the Brits. Wilson's article writes that no transaction (sale) took place. So he doesn't deny that a meeting could have tak place, but you have to read what he writes very carefully.
He then says that "his conclusion was not borne out by the facts as I understood them." So he says there was no sale, which was never claimed, and that the Brit's conclusion, which Bush believed, was wrong.
Oh really? Remember he also wrote this?
What did he tell the CIA? Have a look at the Senate Intelligence Committee.
Huh? And have you noticed what the title of the New York Times article was?
"What I Didn't Find in Africa"
So what he found was there had been no sale, no purchase. And if he told his buds in the Department of State that Bush's embraceof the Brits information was wrong, why did he tell the CIA that Nigerien officials said the Iraqis came in 1999 and that the Nigerien PM believed wanted to purchase.....That is a huge disconnect.
Did the media just ignore it, or were they just too dumb to figure it out? To return to my initial comments, at one time I thought the media was in the tank for Wilson. I now think that they were in the tank, and because of that, couldn't exercise enough logical thinking to ask some very hard and very important questions.
That's sad.
I spent the next eight days drinking sweet mint tea and meeting with dozens of people: current government officials, former government officials, people associated with the country's uranium business. It did not take long to conclude that it was highly doubtful that any such transaction had ever taken place.
Then, in January, President Bush, citing the British dossier, repeated the charges about Iraqi efforts to buy uranium from Africa.
The next day, I reminded a friend at the State Department of my trip and suggested that if the president had been referring to Niger, then his conclusion was not borne out by the facts as I understood them.
In early March, I arrived in Washington and promptly provided a detailed briefing to the C.I.A. I later shared my conclusions with the State Department African Affairs Bureau. There was nothing secret or earth-shattering in my report, just as there was nothing secret about my trip.
What did he tell the CIA? Have a look at the Senate Intelligence Committee.
The CIA's DO gave the former ambassador's information a grade of "good," which means that it added to the IC's body of understanding on the issue....The reports officer said that a "good" grade was merited because the information responded to at least some of the outstanding questions in the Intelligence Community, but did not provide substantial new information. He said he judged that the most important fact in the report was that the Nigerien officials admitted that the Iraqi delegation had traveled there in 1999, and that the Nigerien Prime Minister believed the Iraqis were interested in purchasing uranium, because this provided some confirmation of foreign government service reporting.
McKinnon leaving... So??
You have to wonder about some of the people involved in politics.
Now wait just a gol darn minute.....
If you think McCain is the best man why do this??
Now let me see...
"Doctor I think you are the best brain surgeon in the world and that I need surgery...but I'm gonna have John step in because it will send a great message to the country and the world??"
Me thinks his leaving is a blessing for McCain.
MIAMI (AP) - A top adviser is leaving Republican John McCain's presidential campaign because he doesn't want to work against Democrat Barack Obama.
Mark McKinnon, the chief media consultant to McCain, wrote in a campaign memo last year that if Obama won the Democratic nomination, he would not actively campaign against him. With the results of Tuesday night's primaries in Kentucky and Oregon, Obama claimed he had a majority of convention delegates.
McKinnon said Tuesday evening he was making good on his pledge, and was "moving from middle linebacker to cheerleader" for McCain.
Now wait just a gol darn minute.....
If you think McCain is the best man why do this??
He said last year that he didn't want to work against an Obama candidacy. Electing Obama "would send a great message to the country and the world," McKinnon said at the time, although he added that he intended to vote for McCain.
Now let me see...

Bits and pieces
Either cousins of Bugs Bunny or Rocky the Flying Squirrel devoured a number of my just up okra plants yesterday. Given that fried okra is referred to as candy in this house a state of war now exists. The 20 gauge short barrel pump has had No. 6 shot loaded and I am ready to rend shock and awe on the varmints. Seeing as how the failure of global warming delayed spring, the replanting of these will be a rereplanting.
Given that the price of oil hit $130. yesterday, driving the stock market into a
$199 drop, veggies from the garden may be more important than we think...
In response our valiant Congress people have passed a law that says we can sue OPEC and speculators.... Send in the clowns....er lawyers...
Supposedly the increase is based on fears of shortages in 2016....I guess any excuse is okay when dealing with the American public who, basically, have proven too stupid to raise hell with Democrats until, fearing for their jobs, the Demos join the Repubs and start to push drilling in ANWAR, offshore and downtown Hartford if we think oil is there.
Also named as a reason was an interview with the well known oilman, T. Boone Pickens, who says we have maxed out and is investing millions in windmill farms. He may be right. He may be wrong. I just wish he didn't have a dog in the fight.
In other news the coronation of Hussein is being planned, yet the polls show him unable to beat McCain, or a best, tie him. That's an amazing factoid when all the problems we currently have are factored in. Any Democrat should be leading by a mile yet he is struggling when away from The Borg.
In other news.... women in the United Kingdom have won the right to have children without fathers... Heck, we have had that right for years. Visit your nearest ghetto.
Later chums!

On the radio
Just heard a snippet of Hussein telling the crowd that the Republicans are trying to make the election about him, instead of "you."
Well, yeah. You see, "you" isn't running for President. Hussein is. And since he is, it is right and proper that we take a long hard look.
And that's what is starting to happen. He tells us he is a Christian but has spent 20years in a church with a minister who says decidedly non-christian things. He claims to be a patriot but won't wear a lapel pin telling the world he is. He claims to be against terrorism but associates with a man who was one, and who has never apologized. He claims he will meet with no pre-conditions with states who sponsor terrorism but he won't tell us what his base negotiating position is. The economy is in trouble over energy, yet all he can do is tell us that the "world" has the right to tell us what to drive, how much to eat and what we can set our thermostat on. And finally, his wife disses America in campaign speeches but he claims no one can attack her.
Do you think maybe he is fearful of what else we will find??

Strippers, terrorists and exploding heads
An old friend named Kdog sent me this:
It's a funny thought, might make a great Peter Sellers' type movie, or maybe a "Get Smart" in which Smart pulls down the bra of his assistant and becomes confused over which is the mike and which is the receiver......while the terrorist fall dead around them....
I used to think that sex, drugs, rock and roll plus jeans and low cut shorts would win the cultural war, just as they won the cold war. Of course they wouldn't because the terrorists would just slaughter the women and young men and our PC leaders would opine thoughtfully over cultural norms and how we must not judge.
I mention this because one of our a army guys in Iraq used a Koran for target practice. Naturally everyone went gaga and I understand that Bush called up and apologized.
"Horse hockey," as Colonel Potter use to say.
You can look at this on two levels. The first is that it causes problems that we don't need, and that's true. You can also say that we must be respectful of.......
"Hold on there varmint," to quote Yosemite Sam.
Maybe it is time that we start telling Muslims it is time for them to start changing, and that worrying over a book being destroyed, cartoons, naming a teddy bear, etc., is silly.
You see, if we don't start condemning some of the so-called cultural norms, gay killings, hanging of rape victims, stoning women, executing women for infidelity, honor killings, etc., then we are enabling the radicals who push these things.
Think of the NYT accepting KKK lynchings because that's the way things have been done in Alabama.
Now I grant you the shooting of the Koran is not helping STOP the war in Iraq.
But hey, we can STOP the war anytime we want just by leaving.
We went there to WIN. And the only way you can win is to change the cultural norms just as we did in Germany, and to a much larger degree, Japan. And to change them we must condemn them and demand they change.
Will we have the balls to do it? Of course not. We're opting for soothing everything over and hoping. But that isn't going to work. Sooner or later either our cultural norms or the cultural norms of the radicals are going to have to go. And as long as we don't push the point the average Muslim is going to assume that we don't have any real problems with them.
I've always said we could have saved a lot of money and lives if we sent a brigade of all-star American strippers to Afghanistan and Iraq instead of young men and women with guns...the crazies heads would explode and peace would reign:)

HOW to SAVE the AIRLINES
Dump the male flight attendants. No one wanted them in the first place.
Replace all the female flight attendants with good-looking strippers! What the hell -- they don't even serve food anymore, so what's the loss?
The strippers would at least triple the alcohol sales and get a 'party atmosphere' going in the cabin. And, of course, every businessman in this country would start flying again, hoping to see naked women.
Because of the tips, female flight attendants wouldn't need a salary, thus saving even more money. I suspect tips would be so good that we could charge the women for working the plane and have them kick back 20% of the tips, with the lap dances and other 'special services'.
Muslims would be afraid to get on the planes for fear of seeing naked women. Hijackings would come to a screeching halt, and the airline industry would see record revenues.
This is definitely a win-win situation if we handle it right -- a golden opportunity to turn a liability into an asset.
Why didn't Bush think of this? Why do I still have to do everything myself?
Sincerely,
Bill Clinton
..... Well, you can't be serious ALL the time. Well, maybe you can, but who wants to?
My thanks to Mike L.

Fair for the goose as it is for the gander
Asked about the video Monday, Obama told ABC’s “Good Morning America” that the ad is “low class.” The front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination warned that the Tennessee GOP “should be careful” and said he finds it “unacceptable” for them to use his wife in a video.
Average citizen to Hussein 57.
If you don't want your wife involved, get her off the campaign trail and have her quit making speeches. As long as she is and does she is fair game.
Weeder Gander
returns to instruct us. As usual he starts off with a snark. His remarks are italicized.
Let me help you understand this complex matter:
Well, since your comment is on the Iowahawk post I’m unsure what matter you are writing about, but I’ll just respond to your comments.
And, then, secondly, there's a bit of hypocrisy here because merely talking with our enemies, that's something that Ronald Reagan has done with the Soviet Union, Richard Nixon did with China. John McCain advocated just a few years ago that we should be talking with Hamas. The issue, it becomes appeasement only when you're under threat and you give something away. When you give something away, that's very different from talking with your enemies and I think that's why, perhaps, on an intellectual level, John McCain loses here.
Uh, the issue is talking with terrorists and states that sponsor them. Speaking with Iran about Hamas is speaking with Hamas, but both Iran and Hamas can use the fiction they are separate entities and blame each other. And Nixon and Reagan met only after detailed pre-meeting discussions.
The real issue is that there is nothing to discuss. Their position is they want Sharia law and demand the west not interfere as they cut our throats and destroy our culture.
Hussein doesn’t understand that and thus would seek to appease, thinking he could get "peace in our time." His comment that his middle name gives him an advantage in dealing with Muslims shows his lack of knowledge that Muslims kill Muslims on a regular and routine basis. I mean, really. Such a middle school level comment coming from someone wanting to be President is funny. That the Demos will actually nominate him is astounding.
I ask you. What would you be willing to give up to receive assurances that Iran stops their nuclear program???
Remember, leaving SA and the ME doesn’t stop the problem.
As OBL told Peter Arnett in the 3/97 interview.

So, the driving-away jihad against the US does not stop with its withdrawal from the Arabian peninsula, but rather it must desist from aggressive intervention against Muslims in the whole world.
Now we know
Now we know what his "future" means and what his "change" means.
His vision of the future is just like Jimmy Carter's. His glass is always half empty. Rather than looking for solutions that will raise all boats he wants to just keep slicing the pie into smaller and smaller pieces.
This man is an embarassment to the party of JFK, Truman FDR.
"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK," Obama said

Bad day coming
Call your Congressman
It's past the middle of May and still no hot weather. My cucumber seeds and okra seeds have rotted in the ground due to the cool very wet weather, yet our elected officials remain locked on to a problem that doesn't exist and are ready to give gasoline prices another jolt just so they can pander to the environmental wackos.
Just think dear hearts. The range is an INCREASE from $1.50 to $5.00... If we split the difference that would be $2.75... that would run $4.00 gas to $6.75.
At what point does the economy collapse?? What in the blue eyed hell do the people we have elected think they are doing?? Well, let me tell you. They have a great retirement package, a wonderful health plan, their travel is paid for and they have great lunches in their in house cafeteria. Plainer. Most of them haven't a clue and too many don't give a flip. Worse. The problem is caused by laws THEY PASSED.
And the problem is not a problem. Even if it existed it would be a plus. Why do you think Greenland is called Greenland? It was GREEN! That means they could grow FOOD.
You know, FOOD. That stuff the Lefties one said of: "Food is."
And that's the problem. You have people so disconnected from reality they don't even recognize that food must be grown. Hell, they even think it wouldn't be picked if it wasn't for cultural sojourners.
And in the meantime, along with the no increase in temperature for 10 years, the 29th coldest winter in 114 years we find another scientist who is backing away from his previously over stated claims.
Anybody care to guess why this report was released late on Sunday???
Can you say: "The editors want this buried, boys and girls?"
Click on this linkand call your Senators. Call your Representative. Tell them you are tired of being worried sick over losing your job because of the price of oil. Tell them that GW is a theory that is falling apart. Tell them that if they don't pass laws that enable immediate drilling for oil you will vote against them come November no matter if you have to write in your dog's name.
Go ahead. Take 15 minutes this morning and tell them that your are GD tired of their BS and demand they start being part of the solution instead of always the problem.
“[L]et me tell you what’s heading down the tracks,” Sessions said to BMI on May 14. “In a few weeks, we expect that the cap-and-trade legislation that’s been voted out of Sen. Barbara Boxer’s (D-Calif.) Environment and Public Works Committee will be on the floor and according to the Environmental Protection Agency it will increase gas prices by $1.50. The National Association of Manufacturers says it will increase it as much as $5 per gallon.”

WASHINGTON - Global warming isn't to blame for the recent jump in hurricanes in the Atlantic, concludes a study by a prominent federal scientist whose position has shifted on the subject.
Not only that, warmer temperatures will actually reduce the number of hurricanes in the Atlantic and those making landfall, research meteorologist Tom Knutson reported in a study

Dutch leave western civilization
You didn't see this on your TV."
What a shame that a once great people, people who fought the huge Spainish empire to a draw... have given in to Sharia Law.
The Dutch authorities have arrested the cartoonist Gregorius Nekschot (a pseudonym. Nekschot means deathblow, litt: “shot in the back of the neck” [An interview with Nekschot here]). The judicial authorities in Amsterdam said yesterday that the cartoonist was arrested as a suspect for the criminal offense of “publishing cartoons which are discriminating for Muslims and people with dark skin.”
What a shame that a once great people, people who fought the huge Spainish empire to a draw... have given in to Sharia Law.
As spokeswoman of Xtra, Nekschot’s publisher, said today: “He was arrested with a great show of force, by around 10 policemen.” The spokeswoman asked that her name not be used because the cartoonist and publisher have received death threats. Nekschot told the Dutch newspaper Het Parool today that police officers had told him: “What you draw is worse than what they did in Denmark. Do you realize what can happen to you if your identity gets known?” The cartoonist fears for his live if he is being sent to jail. “As the maker of those cartoons my life is in danger in prison,” he said.
Pew Poll - Suicide bombers
WASHINGTON – One in four younger U.S. Muslims said in a poll that suicide bombings to defend their religion are acceptable at least in some circumstances, though most Muslim Americans overwhelmingly reject the tactic and are critical of Islamic extremism and al-Qaeda.
I am hopeful there is a fair amount of bravado in the results, but given the planned attacks on Fort Dix and the attacks in England and Scotland by native Muslims, I must admit that I just don't know.
The issue sweeps across religious lines and cultural lines. I think assimilation is hampered by several key issues.
In the past the immigrants had no effective means of keeping in touch with friends and families in the old country. Mail was slow and uncertain and telephone was expensive. Now we have the Internet and very cheap voice communications.
There wasn't a lot of "culture" from the old country. Sure there would be a local newspaper in the native tongue and the "church." But now we have multiple newspapers, radio stations and TV networks.
There was no bi-lingual education. The student was taught in English and pushed by society to speak/write English. To not do so was unacceptable and looked down on.
Now we have bi-lingual education and the norm has become that we must be bi-lingual.
That may be a good thing where there is no push to assimilate a smaller group into a larger, but it sends the wrong message when the goal is assimilation.
The "churches" pushed religion, and not politics. That is no longer true. See the Rev Wright and Farrakhan for two of the less, BION radical examples. See the statements made by many Islamic Imams for more drastic examples.
So we have an existing culture that does not seek to dominate the new arrivals. That is a formula for creating a group of people who are ambivalent about who they should support, and who are ripe to be controlled by installing a false sense of shame in their good fortune and demands they react to perceived attacks on their "real" religion and culture.
To further complicate the issue, Islam has a very rigid set of laws, Sharia laws, that are entwined and part of the belief system.
Islam does not have a "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's" directive or component.
Because of this, at some point, Islam will have to reform and totally accept secular law, or it will need to be looked as a political program instead of a religion. To do otherwise will further impress many that western civilization is weak.
Power abhors weakness and will always rush into take its place.
Illegal aliens in Postville, Iowa
"I like my job. I like my work. I like it here in Iowa," said Escobedo, 38, an illegal immigrant from Yescas, Mexico, who has raised his three children for 11 years in Postville. "Are they mad because I'm working?"
Well yes. Yes I am.
I am angry because you broke our laws and entered the country illegally.
I am angry because you took a job, most likely at a lower price and with worse working conditions, than a US citizen would. And because of that you have depressed the wages and worsened the working conditions of millions of US citizens.
I am angry because you, after doing the above, want to complain about being caught.
I am angry because you don't seem to understand any of the above.
I am also angry at our government letting your employer get away with hiring you, and not severely punishing them.
I am also angry at the state and local government who had to have known the situation, doing nothing.
I am happy when I read this:
At St. Bridget's Catholic Church, Eduardo Santos, 27, who came from Guatemala and lost two of his fingers working at the factory, said the raid was "fair . . . but it's bad for everybody. There's no work." He plans to go home.
I am disgusted when I see the article's author, Spencer S. Hsu, bring in a irrelevant point... the loss of Santos' fingers in an attempt to slant the story. Hsu's bias becomes obvious.
Freedom of speech
This is an interview on Danish TV. I picked it up from Gates of Vienna.
The TV announcers do not speak English. Those being interviewed do. Watch the whole thing. It isn't an easy watch but it comes from a place that the Muslims are currently over running. Listen to what is said. Especially by the "ordinary citizens" who note that they must now be careful what they say.
The issue now is freedom of speech. The next will be freedom of religion. The next will be separation of church and state. The next will be state sponsored schools that teach Islam, although we have seen that already in San Diegi and Minneapolis/St Paul. The next will be the right for Muslims to not follow secular laws if secular laws violate Sharia law. See the Minneapolis airport cab drivers refusing ton carry dogs and people with alcohol.
Now is the time to speak out.

Patroit
With all the sniveling by the Left over Bush's dead solid perfect shot on Hussein's dumb offer to meet with Iran and other terrorist nations, I thought it time to revisit this classic post by IowaHawk.
Be sure and read it all. Here's a taste.
Be sure and read it all. Here's a taste.
Americans are famous for their diversity, and nowhere is this diversity more on display than in the various ways we celebrate the Fourth of July. Whether you are a traditional infidel enjoying hot dogs and cold watermelon, a recent immigrant infidel celebrating your new citizenship with a colorful piñata full of sweet treats, or like me, a not-as-yet-arrived-there-American who celebrates our independence through videotaped beheadings, we Americans have an almost infinite variety of ways of ‘lighting up the Fourth.’
Sweetie and other stuff
Good morning everyone, and especially all you "sweetie" types. And if you have went to school for years, worked hard for years in your profession and expect to be called by, at least, your first name... Well don't worry. After a couple of fainting spells and falling on your head you won't remember when you thought you were somebody, sweetie.
It has already happened to thousands of your peers.
Now get your cute behind over there and wait. We'll be over to tell you what the truth is in a few minutes....
Is it just me, or did Hussein 57 get a free pass for his obviously sexist and denigrating comment? Can you imagine the nuclear blast had McCain done that?
But at least the reporter managed one small punch. Give a listen.
Why do I think we will get to hear this again.....in late October?
Global warming continued to provide a pandering opportunity for the politicians this week and John McCain seized the day. His so-called cap and trade, aka "send more money to people who hate us," may yet prove to be the straw that breaks his support.
Given that the alternative continues to be much worse and we might get McCain to change his mind, he still is the best choice.
But someone had better start whispering in his ear. In 1992 we had Perot. In 2008 we have Bob Barr.
In the meantime W landed a solid hit on Hussein 57 when he brought up the silliness of meeting with bad guys, and used a WWII example. Hussein 57 and his minions the press and Demos were immediately drawn to it like bugs to an outside light. At which point the Repubs just noted that Jimmy Carter was a better example, and that Hussein 57 is not the center of the universe, although he may think so.
Ah, but Hussein 57 is the center. Just ask him, sweetie.
Of more interest is the Demos attempts to claim that Hussein never said he would meet.
Good grief. Here's the video.
You gonna believe the Demos or your lying eyes, sweetie??
But proving again that Bush is capable of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, he flew down to SA and was told to stick our gasoline price problems up his, as Reagan said, "kister."
I have came to the conclusion that we should have let Saddam have SA. At least he was good enough of a crook to stay bought.
The Repubs have lost three special elections in a row. This week they lost one in northern Mississippi, just south of Memphis that featured help from Cheney and McCain and lots of money. I would guess that is worrying the party elders.
And it should. I have friends in north Mississippi, one of which I have a great deal of respect for his political observations. Which were:
The price of gas. The price of gas. The price of gas.
It has already happened to thousands of your peers.

What Hussein 57 says
The Illinois senator also said that he has state "over and over again that I will not negotiate with terrorists like Hamas."
And what he means..
It is documented fact that he said he would meet with Iran.
Iran, of course, supports Hamas.
I'll give him credit. The guy's pretty slick.
That's Southern for being dishonest.
Okay Fatty. You're destroying the planet
killing polar bears and causing hurricanes...
And no, that isn't a joke:
Global warming also causes flat feet, bad breath, iron poor blood, dandruff, baldness, yellow teeth, in growing toe nails, pimples, smelly bathrooms and the heartbreak of psoriasis.
And this is what your tax dollars is getting in return. I am sure you will faint at such a display of intelligence.
Wow.
Well, we are half way there!
And no, that isn't a joke:
GENEVA (Reuters) - Obesity contributes to global warming, too.
Obese and overweight people require more fuel to transport them and the food they eat, and the problem will worsen as the population literally swells in size, a team at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine says.

Because thinner people eat less and are more likely to walk than rely on cars, a slimmer population would lower demand for fuel for transportation and for agriculture, Edwards said.
Wow.
Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad.

Well, we are half way there!
They are all good people. I know they are.
So why do I get a wrinkled brow when I read this?
Summary. Sgt Weiss Rasool has been convicted of using his access to a police computer, at the request of a terrorist suspect, to access the network, determine that the suspect was under surveillance and so advise him.
In addition we find that:
So he complains about counterterrorism training and rats out the FBI to a a person who was later convicted and deported. Guess what.
He is punished with two years probation and is still working. Wow.
Now you would think that such actions would lead some of the Muslim organizations to condemn Rasools actions. You would be wrong.
And who do we find joining Rasool in his attacks on the counterterrorism class?
Catch a clue, chums. Our desire to be politically correct is leading us down the wrong road. Think things out.
If the person asking Rasool for help had been a Baptist would he have done so? Would he have told them that the FBI was following them?
Would the Southern Baptist Conference written a letter on his behalf to the sentencing judge??
If the class on terrorism had been about the KKK, would Rasool have complained about it?
And if he had, would the department have canceled the class?
Summary. Sgt Weiss Rasool has been convicted of using his access to a police computer, at the request of a terrorist suspect, to access the network, determine that the suspect was under surveillance and so advise him.
"The target was arrested in November 2005, then convicted and deported, according to court filings in Rasool's case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeanine Linehan said that the target and his family were already dressed and destroying evidence at 6 a.m. when agents arrived to make the arrest, indicating that they had been tipped off."
In addition we find that:
Now the president of an Arlington, Va.-based counterterrorism research center is asking Rasool's bosses to reconsider their 2006 decision to cease using training programs offered by the center. Complaints by Rasool and an officer from another local agency that the training was anti-Islam prompted Fairfax County police to break with the Higgins Center for Counter Terrorism Research.
So he complains about counterterrorism training and rats out the FBI to a a person who was later convicted and deported. Guess what.
He is punished with two years probation and is still working. Wow.
Despite his plea to a misdemeanor, Rasool remains a Fairfax County police sergeant although he is under an internal affairs investigation.
Now you would think that such actions would lead some of the Muslim organizations to condemn Rasools actions. You would be wrong.
Among those writing to the sentencing judge in support of Rasool was CAIR governmental affairs director Corey Saylor. "I have always found Sgt. Rasool eager to promote a substantive relationship between the Fairfax County Police Department and the local Muslim community. His efforts played a significant role in improving trust in a time when mutual misunderstanding could easily severe (sic) all positive ties between these two groups
And who do we find joining Rasool in his attacks on the counterterrorism class?
Another officer who joined Rasool in complaining about the Higgins program works for an area sheriff's department, Leitner said. That officer claimed to be a representative from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Leitner said.
